Not That Way

12 Aug

Bongo's profile with his tongue outYesterday we had a lot of thunder.

So I decided not to take my person for a walk.

Who knows what she would have done if we got way out on my trails and it thundered on top of her.

***

Today we had more thunder.

But it kind of calmed down so I thought I’d brave it.

See if my person could handle it.

Because two days in a row is a long time to go without a walk.

My trails would miss me.

***

Everything was fine at first until it was time to turn around and head back.

Bongo heading up a dry wash

Hey person, you don’t want to go back that way.

That’s where the thunder is.

Let’s keep heading up this way.

Bongo pulling against his leash

Seriously person, you do not want to go back that way.

That thunder is dangerous!

Bongo facing a large rock as he pulls against his leash

Maybe if I hide behind this rock my person will get the message.

***

Okay fine, I came a little way with you.

I’m not going any further.

Bongo at the top of a little hill with his leash taut

I’m at the top of the hill.

I can see further and this is definitely far enough.

Bongo pulling against his leash from the top of the hill

You just don’t seem to get it, do you person.

we had lots of rain yesterday and some thunder, down state they had it worse the streets were flooded 2.5 inches within an evening. My sisterwithoutpaws could not go to work because the roads were impassible

Fredrieka, you’re getting it worse than us. Although I might like it if the roads here turned into swimming holes – and the thunder went away of course.

Oh man, I know that stubborn “four paws dug in” look all too well. Glad you guys (eventually) made it home safe.

Will and Eko, my person says it was one of the longest walks home – since the last time we were caught out in the thunder last year. If she’d only send that thunder away there wouldn’t be a problem.

Oh my poor brave Bongo going out into the thunder just so your person could go for a walk. How brave you are! But where is your thunder vest?

Patrecia, my thunder vest is on me – but it doesn’t hold a lick to that nasty old thunder.

Better than nothing at all…thunder is only the clouds banging together

Oh, B. You look just like me when I get afraid. Sometimes we need to dig in our paws to keep our people safe.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, I don’t know what our people would do without us sometimes. They head right into the middle of danger without even thinking about it.

Me too Marty. Me too. But it seems to be getting worse instead of better.

Thanks Marty. I’m on my way! And my person will probably come too. She’s always taking pictures of flowers when they’re around.

Your person just doesn’t listen. But you know pal you are better to be inside when there is thunder!

Dalton, I’m better to be anywhere where the thunder isn’t. But you’re right – my person doesn’t listen.

I hope you will find some useful techniques of resistance in this video, although it is about a different thing (bath): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4LnorVVxfw

Kolytyi, I’ll take all those dog’s baths if they’ll take care of the thunder for me.

Oh, no, Bongo!!!!!! Your person needs some obedience lessons! And anyway, somebody better talk to mr. Thunder. He can’t go on terrorizing everyone!!!!! 🙂
ps I ‘m well familiar with all those poses – your friend here takes the same ones when mr. Thunder visits us too!

Marina, it’s called The Thunder Dance. Some of us dogs are really good at it.

Kevin, I pulled so hard that my collar came off – three times. But I still had to protect my person so I didn’t leave her.
