Snow Treat

07 Dec

Bongo Eating SnowWe still have a little snow left in our yard – I hope it never goes completely away, because it’s a real treat. Every time I go outside I eat some of it. Sometimes I even bug my person to let me outside just so I can eat it.

My person thinks I’ve got to go out for other reasons but I don’t. It’s fun to go out and eat more of that crunchy, cold, white stuff. It’s even better now than when it first showed up because it’s frozen. Harder than snow, but not as hard as ice. Perfect.

I can never get enough of it though. I eat a little bit and my person tells me I’ve had enough cold stuff and it will make my insides turn all shivery. I don’t know why that matters. I can always go in the house and warm up again, but she grabs me by the collar and pulls me away from my special treat.

At least I can grab a little more snow on the stairs on the way in. I’m sure glad my person doesn’t have a shovel.

Bongo, you are too cute. I’m glad you are getting lots of time in the leftover snow! Harley likes to pretend he needs to go outside for one purpose only: to hunt lizards. Of course, when we get to Colorado, I have a feeling he’s going to be acting just like you– crazy for snow 🙂

DeannaMelanie, I hope Harley has great fun in the snow. We have lizards here too, but they don’t often come into my yard. They’re on my trails though.

Sweet Bongo, I like it that you enjoy the snow so much! But don’t you think that there is better stuff to eat than snow??? You really should come to Brussels and we will transform you into a gastronomical dog 🙂

I have never tried eating snow, although I do love to leap in it. I’ll have to taste it next time I go to the mountains.

Lola, eating snow is kind of like eating ice cubes – but softer.

Bassa, I’m glad somebody understands me, although my person says when she was a girl her mom would mix sugar and flavoring into snow to make snow ice cream. I’ve tried to get my person to do that for me but she won’t.

Hello Bongo sweet boy,You seem to be having a good day eating the cold white stuff. Tis true that it will not do your little tummy much good even though it tastes lovely. and crunchy.
When it snows in our garden my Guido dog, he is the old deaf fella, he likes to stick his nose in it and then he has a lovely roll. As he has a thick coat , like yours, i expect it feels great…

    love from Me

Patreciau, I haven’t tried rolling in the snow like Guido. Next time it snows I think I’m going to have to do that.

In Alaska that and the water used to cook our food is all there is. Even when working pulling the sled you grab a mouthfull of snow on the run.

I’m happy for you, Bongo, this love of snow. I like it, too, until it gets up to my knee and is heavier to shovel. Then? Not so much.

Leslie, our snow never gets that deep here and most of the time it’s gone the next day – so it’s fun to have around while it’s here.

Snow-cones! (minus the cups and the flavoring). I’m glad you’re enjoying the snow, Bongo. I wish it snowed where I am instead of endless rains.

    Bongo-

Madam Lasagna is impressed that you worked out the false alarm scenario for getting a chance to eat more snow. Should you get more snow, that technique works well for getting outside to cool off a hot belly or make snow angels too. The humans never completely catch on.

Well, sweet Bongo we think we have you all figured out…since you love the snow so much we figure you are eating a lot of it so you have to go out and do business more often. That way you get to play and enjoy the snow all the more. Keep having fun and enjoying that snow. Hugs and nose kisses
