Who’s Your Co-Pilot?

14 Jan

Dog is my co-pilotMy person and I were walking along as usual, heading for my trails and almost there when we saw it. Right out there plain and bold on a vehicle parked at the trailhead. Dog is my co-pilot. Wow! How cool is that?

I can see myself now, sitting in the passenger seat of my person’s car barking out orders – okay person, yeah, yeah – helping my person navigate, and maybe even getting to drive a little.

Or maybe, just maybe… Pilots fly airplanes don’t they? Maybe I could sit in the right seat next to the captain of an airplane and help fly it. That would be so cool. I could fly all over the world visiting all my blogging buddies and all the different branches of the Bongo Fan Club.

Okay person, maybe there aren’t a lot of branches of the Bongo Fan Club, but I could still visit my blogging buddies.

Well, my person was curious and when we got home she checked out the website that was on that sticker. The website is for a dog magazine called The Bark. My person had never heard of this magazine before.

But then, a couple days ago we heard about that magazine again.

Andrea, my blogging buddy from Iowa Dog Blog has an article published in the current issue of The Bark. You can see Andrea’s post about it here. I think this makes Andrea famous. And that means I have a famous friend. I might have to start an Andrea Fan Club.

Jen has one of those bumper stickers! She also has one that says Wag More Bark Less

Rumpy, I think Wag More Bark Less is a good life philosophy (did I write that big word?). I think I’ll tell my person to get one of those bumper stickers.

Sweet Bongo, being a co-pilot is not to be underestimated. I am co-pilot for all our cosy travels and I have a lot of duties to attend to: read the map (since our GPS cannot always be trusted), feed my Viking, give my Viking to drink, being a DJ (putting music on cd’s and cd’s in the cd-player in the car), consult the travel guide and so on. It’s a lot of fun, but also a lot of work!

Sweet Kitten, you mean if I’m a co-pilot I have to work? I was hoping to just travel around and have a good time. Maybe I could be a back seat driver.

I think you need to talk with your person, Bongo. Maybe you will have less duties than I. And have I already told you that I am not only the co-pilot, but also the photographer?

Sweet Kitten, my person won’t let me near her camera so at least I won’t have to do that. I think I could probably navigate for her by checking out the smells.

how exciting, Bongo… your person was very clever to go right to the www and search there… there’s always lots and lots of info there… and good eye, Bongo, for seeing that bumper sticker in the first place… tail wags and excited head bobbing…

BuddhaKat, it was fun seeing a bumper sticker about dogs – especially one that said something so cool.

Hey Bongo, we discovered this mag last year and really enjoyed it, so we subscribed. Only problem is we have been waiting 6 months for the first issue to arrive. The front office must be run by cats. – DogDaz

Dogdaz, never get a cat to do a dog’s job. I think we’d better have a talk with that magazine.

My dogs are not good co-pilots. They have been know to cause accidents.

Kibble, I guess your dogs had better be relegated to being back seat drivers.

    Hi Y’all,

It sounds like great fun to be a co-pilot but every time I try to give the Humans directions they tell me QUIET! Disgusting isn’t it?

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

Hawk, I think your people just need a little better training. They obviously haven’t learned how to follow directions yet.

Bongo, you are such a clever dog. I enjoy your posts so much. I want to be a cp-pilot, too.

Thanks Henry. I think you qualify to be a co-pilot. After all, you’re a dog.

Hi Bongo! The bumper sticker on my truck just says “Woof!”. As far as the co-pilot thing goes, that explains why Daisy and Webster keep trying to get in the passenger seat of my truck – they must be trying to help me drive. And I would like to join both the Bongo and Andrea fan clubs because I think you’re both awesome! 🙂

Thanks Laurie, you can be president of my fan club. But you’ve got to let Daisy and Webster help with that co-pilot thing.

Bassa, it would be great to travel around the world with you. We might even have fan clubs in some of the same places.

I can easily imagine you sitting in the right seat next to the captain of an airplane, Bongo! Wow! How cool! I hope you could visit here someday! 🙂
I’m sure “the Bongo Fan Club” is in Japan, too!!! At least, I’m one of the members of the Fan Club, Bongo! 🙂

I already see you and your friends as co-pilot (this is so much fun:D ) Maby you also get your own sticker: “Bongo is my co-pilot” 🙂

Angelswhisper, I think my person should have that “Bongo is my co-pilot” sticker. Maybe then she would listen to me more.

Thanks for sharing about the magazine. I found another great bumper sticker place through a fellow blogger it is called http://bumperpet.com/ and you can make your own stickers so you could have your face on your own bumper sticker 🙂

Misty, I had my person check out that site. That is so cool. I could have my own bumper sticker.

Bongo I’m sure you would make a great co-pilot. Lexie & Mica like to be back car (SUV) drivers. They each have a window, can stand or sit or even lay & relax. All those new smells are coming in for them and they get to see all the other dogs ( no barking). If we go through fast food they always get a treat; McNuget, cheese one gives bacon!! They prefer to stand back & enjoy the ride 🙂

    • Bongo

      January 17, 2012 at 11:31 am

Tylers, I keep trying to sneak up into the front seat, but my people make me stay in the back like Lexie and Mica. I’m still waiting for my fast food treat though.

Thanks so much for the shout-out, Bongo! It’s funny how little happenings in life can connect in surprising ways. I had not seen those bumper stickers, though, so I think I’ll have to get myself one. Gertie and Duke are backseat co-pilots. But they’re definitely front-seat co-pilots in the journey of life, and I’m sure that’s what you are to your person! Thanks again for sharing.

Andrea, it was so cool to find that connection and exciting to hear you were published in The Bark. My person sends me to the backseat too, but I’m like Gertie and Duke – a front seat co-pilot the rest of the time.
