I am not coming in! Don’t you get it person? It’s too nice to stay in the house all day.
The weather has finally gotten absolutely perfect for my trail walks. It’s still sunny outside and it’s cooled way down from the summer. I feel like I have a spring in my step and I could walk for a long time.
There are so many adventures to be had outside. In the house all I have is Scratchy and he won’t play with me.
.
.
See. I told you he wouldn’t play with me.
So on days like this when my person wants to go back in the house, I dig in.
Sometimes it works – but usually I have no luck. Maybe if we had some nice, mucky mud I could get stuck in it so hard my person couldn’t pull me out.
But wait a minute. If we had mud I’d be running into the house, because that means it’s raining – and probably cold.
I think it’s time for my Inventor Dog hat to come on. I’ve got to figure out a way to make rainless mud.
Any ideas? I can only think of one, and I’m not sure I want to dig my feet into that.

Uh-oh. Waterless mud = flies. AGAIN! I feel ya, B. Turning into a stubborn donkey made of stone doesn’t work for me either.

Cupcake, I’m pretty strong but for some reason my person still always manages to drag me along when she wants me to move. It’s not fair.

Thanks Doggy’s Style. I can be pretty determined when I want to.

Hmmmmm, rainless huh? …oh but that doesn’t mean it can’t be waterless, does it?!!!!
Just saying…
But then, you are the clever dog, you’ll figure that out, I’m sure!

Marina, I tried something different this last time. I took my person over to my neighbor’s instead.

I know that “I’m not coming in” face all too well, it’s usually followed by Eko dashing off at full speed!

Will, I’d be dashing off like Eko too if my person would ever let go of my leash.

Benny & Lily, for some reason my person doesn’t trust me outside on my own – something about me running away. I don’t know where she could get an idea like that.

Maybe if you got enough mud on you, your person wouldn’t want you in the house. Or, you could do the Berner roll – just roll over on your back. If she tries to roll you back up on your feet, just keep on rollin’. Of course I’ve got a little extra meat on me so there’s no way Diane can lift me…but she’s sneaky – bacon! Gets me every time Bongo & I just can’t help it.

Lola, do you think if I rolled on my back my person would give me some bacon? I’ll come in the house for that any day.

Bongo, I’ve never been one to say no to bacon so you might suggest that she keep some on hand.

Lola, I’m taking her hand and dragging her to the grocery store right now.

Bongo, Molly here. RC Cat must be taking lessons from Scratchy. I tried to walk up and chat with her today but she did a really loud mean growl – and I got hauled out of the room. No fair. Cats just are so defensive. (I was so not even looking at her bowl of food)
Hope your person realizes it’s time to go outside again soon.

Molly, those cats are just no fun. You’d think they’d want to share their food with us – after all, we’re a lot bigger than them and need more food. And I can’t figure out why they don’t want to play with us.

It’s far too cold here! Elka doesn’t hardly want to go out at all.

Jen, I’d probably want to hang out in the house if it was cold here too. Unless there was snow to play in, that is.

Angels Whisper, I think I should trade Scratchy in for a puppy who will play with me.

Hmmm…rainless mud….what about going out just after rain stops? Then you’ll have rainless mud, Bongo! 🙂

Kevin, we haven’t had any rain for weeks so I haven’t been able to find any mud. It’s all cloudy today though and my person says it might rain – so maybe I’m in luck.

Enjoy that nice weather while it lasts, Bongo! As for rainless mud, maybe though sprinkler things could help? Or the garden hose? The trick is turning them on…
Bongo
December 13, 2012 at 4:20 pm
Remy, we do have a garden hose. I’ll have to investigate the best way to turn it on without getting caught.

Thanks Delft. Yeah, I was thinking how I could escape so I didn’t have to go back into the house just yet.

Ginger here…. oooh that mean scratchy…. someday if I ever get to where you live I have plots to get scratchy… muwhahahaha…. as for mud try this… find a unused bag of cat litter…. rip it open and pour your water on it… works everytime… wala… instant mud and when you are done you can throw scratchy into it.. hehehe

Ginger, I sure hope you can make it here to help me with Scratchy. And I like that mud idea. I get little bits of mud when I get treats out of the litter box and then wash my muzzle off in my water dish but it would be much better to make lots of mud.
