That’s Not How You Do It

28 Sep

Bushes with white blossoms on a hillI don’t get it. My person just doesn’t make sense at all.

Normally she doesn’t care about smells.

But today she’s walking along the trails saying how good things smell.

I don’t think she gets it.

I smell things in the air all the time. But I don’t smell anything special today.

Different maybe, but not special.

I guess I’ve got to train my person.

It’s not the air smells that count.

You’ve got to get up close and personal to really smell things. To really get the message.

Little white flowers on a bush

That’s better person, but not good enough.

You’ve got to stick your nose right into those flowers.

What do you mean, you don’t want to do that? You’re trying to get all the best smells, aren’t you?

You cannot smell all best smells from that far away.

I don’t believe it!

Do I have to show you person?

Bongo sniffing a bush with white blossoms

Oh, does that smell good. One of my best friends was by here not too long ago.

Okay person, now you try.

Marina, I think my person is untrainable. She wouldn’t do it.

What a good sniffer you have Bongo..did you know which girlfriend it was? Us humans are not very good at smelling things, unless it is obvious, like the dinner burning or the house is on fire. My dogsare always sniffing at something when we go on our walks..l think it foxy smells ..urg!

Patrecia, I do know which girlfriend it was – but I’ll never tell. I don’t want to make my other girlfriends jealous.

Molly: they won’t listen, Bongo. People just miss all the notes and messages. NIce try with the demonstration.

Molly, people have no idea what they’re missing. I’ve tried and tried to train my person, but it just doesn’t work.

Did your person follow your advice? If so, I would like to see a photo of that. 😉

Human noses…. Pffft! They’re as good as useless. I don’t even see Mom ever check her pee-mail!

Cupcake, it’s really sad. Our people don’t know what they’re missing.

We humans have so much to learn.

Dogdaz, us dogs would be glad to teach you, but you have to be willing to follow our example.

I agree with you Bongo, humans should smell things like we do because it’s obviously much better way to smell!

Kevin, people have no idea how much they’re missing by not stopping to smell the flowers.

When I go for my walk with Diane, I always check the bridge for any messages from my friends…Lola

Lola, us dogs have it figured out alright. I just can’t figure out why our people can’t get on board.

MOL… I’m sure it smelled good. Granny always smells that the intruders have been in our garden 😀

Little Binky, my person is such a slow learner. She still doesn’t get how you’re supposed to smell things on the trail.
