The Banquet

Bongo at the table smiling

This Bible story is about food?

I can’t wait to hear it. I’m drooling already.

Did Jesus feed thousands of people again?

I’m all ears.

Jesus went to eat at the house of a prominent Pharisee.

Oh, I get it. Someone fed Jesus this time. I wonder if that Pharisee invites dogs to eat at his house.

Jesus said to His host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

I can’t repay for my dinner, so I should be invited all the time.

I’m listening. I’m listening.

When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”

Blessed is the dog too.

Jesus replied,: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

“Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

“Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’”

If all those people can’t come that means there will be lots of leftovers. I bet they’ll give them to me and all my dog buddies.

I am listening. I’m waiting for the food part.

Jesus continued, “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

Don’t bring in too many of those people. There won’t be any food left for us dogs.

“’Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’”

Oh good. Time for a dog party.

“Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”

Here I am. I’m on this country lane out here. I’ll eat the banquet that those ungrateful men wouldn’t come and eat.

Jesus does care about dogs, doesn’t He?

Yes, blessed is the dog and He does care for all beings, but as I recall, in that photo the dog doesn’t get fed!!!!! Seems like someone was having a feast and not sharing!!!! 🙂

    Hi Y’all!

My Humans tell me that God made dog and named him after himself. Since Jesus is the son of God, according to the logic of this furry mind, he would love God and therefore have to love the dog.

    Y’all come by now!

Hawk, that is the best logic I’ve ever heard. It makes perfect sense to me.

The Old Guy tells us that dogs were put here to not only serve man, but to teach man what God’s love is really like as we love them like God Does.. unconditionally and he says we teach them how to forgive unconditionally and how to handle problems lovingly….. we dont get the last two…..but he also says God will have the new heaven and earth and we dogs will be there…. 🙂 Hope the old guy is right…

Collies, unless we can get people straightened out dog heaven will look different than people heaven. Ours will have lots of treats, good smells, and places to run. And sheep for you collies to chase. I’m not sure what people heaven will have in it.
