Puddle Pull

17 Oct

Bongo Checking Out the PuddleThere’s a really cool puddle that my person and I come across when we go out for our walks. Most of the year it’s just some sand in a low spot on a big rock. When we get rain the water stays in this low spot and a puddle forms. The puddle shrinks each day until it rains again and then it gets big.

I love this puddle because it has all kinds of interesting smells. I can smell the coyotes that go to drink there at night, and some of the smaller animals too. The only problem is that whenever we get to this puddle my person tries to get me away from it. She tells me not to drink the water. I’m not sure what’s so different about the puddle water. She lets me drink all the water I want at home, so what’s the problem? I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with that water. After all, the sand where I used to do my business is completely covered up.

Bongo – I think you should listen to your person on this one!

I have to admit, I have been listening to my person. I smell it, but I haven’t tasted the water.

Puddles are lots of fun, but I don’t think I’d drink out of one. I’m actually kind of picky about my water. Unless it’s in my own special bowl at home, I like the water to be running. Streams are okay, puddles, not really. I love water fountains and hoses, though.

Lola, you’re so right. I make my person think I’m going to drink out of the puddle but I never do. What smells good doesn’t always taste so good.

Puddles can be a lot of fun. And what a fun word that puddles is!!! Mr. Cheddar says, you are a-ok, for a canine that is. High praise indeed from that feline. 😉

    Nice blog you’ve got here!

Mr. Cheddar’s Meowmie, Thanks. I have to say the Mr. Cheddar is a pretty cool cat – and that’s hard for me to say since I mostly think cats are for chasing. -Bongo

Wow, I never thought about that water being there just for me. I guess you’re right. God must have had me in mind when He put it there.

Bongo – it is not a water puddle. It is a mud bath, a playground and doggie perfume all put there for you to enjoy. But perhaps drinking it is bad!

Alfie you’re right – and mud baths are good, but I love water baths the best.

Bongo, you might like to do what Ollie does–sprint like heck through any puddle you can find and then look completely perplexed about how your feet got so wet and muddy!

Ollie knows how to have fun in puddles. Me, I like the scents the best.
