Strange Behavior

10 Dec

Partial EclipseMy person behaved very strangely today. She got up while it was still dark. Sometimes she does that, but this time she put on her hiking boots and started heading out the door. Well of course I wasn’t about to let her go without me so I got up too.

We headed for the trails and it was still so dark my person needed a flashlight. And she was stopping and taking pictures. What the heck? I think there’s something wrong with my person. I’ve never seen her act this way.

We started heading toward the trail that goes up Sugarloaf. Then my person changed her mind. She said something about the moon hiding behind Thunder Mountain when we walked that direction. Since when has she ever cared where the moon was before?

I don’t know what had gotten into my person because then she took me up toward a ridge but we weren’t even on a real trail. Come on person – there is a trail up here where you don’t have to walk right next to cactus and jump over rocks. You just have to go back down to the road first.

We hung out on that ridge for awhile and my person took more pictures, but she said she needed to get a better camera – and a telephoto lense (whatever that is). It started getting light and my person said we could go back home now – that the moon had sunk behind Thunder Mountain right before it went into total eclipse.

I’m not sure what she was talking about, but by then it didn’t matter. All I cared about was getting back to my warm bed – and the rabbit that ran across the street in front of us.

Oh, sweet Bongo we are sorry you didn’t understand about the walk in the dark or the pictures of the moon. We are happy you shared your picture of the lunar eclipse though so we could see it. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, I couldn’t figure out what my person was doing, but it was still fun to go out.

Ah, Bongo, you know the full moon makes people act funny right. 🙂 So glad your person was out to take the photos. I was out too, and I was just following the moon trying to find it without trees in front of it. 🙂 We humans are strange.

Katie, I’m glad my person is not the only one out looking for the moon because we didn’t see anybody else out where we were.

Patreciau, it was a good adventure, but it would have been even better if my person had let me chase that rabbit.

You are a good boy, Bongo. Never let your person go out at night without you. Moon or no moon.

Patricia, that’s what I was thinking too. My person shouldn’t go out by herself in the dark.

My person takes pictures of strange things, too, but I’m with you. As long as I get to go along, I don’t mind. Sounds like another great adventure.

Lola, it was another great adventure. Sometimes I can’t figure out what my person is up to, but I’ll take any chance to go out on the trails.

The only time Wonderbutt’s person voluntarily gets up while it’s still dark is – well, never.

Wonderbutt’s person, it’s pretty rare for my person to get up that early voluntarily either. That was one of the things that was so strange.

Even the bunny went to see the magic eclipse? Glad you are home snug and warm after such and adventure.

Karen, that bunny was running really fast – I guess it was afraid it would miss the eclipse.

Awww, what a sweet thing to do Bongo, walking in the moonlight! It’s almost as good as walking in the sunshine!! *scratchin’ ya behind your cute ears!!*

Sunshine, I prefer walking in the sunshine, but there aren’t many rabbits out then, so I guess sometimes a moonlight walk is good. The ear scratch feels good. Thanks.

A lunar eclipse is a rare event Bongo so your person got up early to see it. I hope you managed to catch up on your sleep 🙂

P.S. Thunder Mountain is a great name!

Bassa, my person and I both took a nap after that adventure. She says there’s not supposed to be another lunar eclipse for about three years but she discovered that in 2017 there will be a solar eclipse where her brother lives. My person says the name Thunder Mountain reminds her of Disneyland, but here it’s a really cool rock formation.

Kevin, I made sure I went to protect my person but she says I’m in the most danger after dark because she’s afraid I might go running after coyotes or javelina.

You are brave to go hiking around in the dark. We go out in the dark, but that is to get ducks, not take pictures. 😆 Wonderful picture your person captured!

Brown Dawgs, we don’t have many ducks here, so I guess I can put up with my person’s picture taking as long as it doesn’t happen very often.

This time, full moon was in the afternoon, so puzzle wasn’t exited because of this special lunar eclipse thing – but I know, otherwise she would have done like your person did. I love to be outside on such nights for long walks, even if I ignore the moon for more than just light.

B0ng0, my person said she’s seen much better eclipses. She says usually they happen shortly after the moon has risen and they’re pretty awesome. This one happened when it was already getting light.

IT was a great eclipse! You got to see it! Woo hoo! We often go out here in the winter to see the Northern lights! They are so cool too.

    Keep up the great posts!!!

Chuck and the Collies, my person says she would love to see the Northern Lights sometime. We’re too far south so we don’t get them here.

Good for you, Bongo and BongoDogOwner.

I missed the eclipse because the rains have been torrential here and the skies are gray and dark.

    Thanks for the picture. 🙂

We’ve missed an eclipse or two because of bad weather. This time the weather cooperated wonderfully.
