Ever since I got my big bone for Christmas I’ve had an urge to dig and bury it. I’ve been really frustrated because every time I try to take that bone outside my person makes me drop it before she’ll open the door. How am I going to bury my bone if I can’t take it outside? The floors of my house are just too hard to dig through.
Well, today I got a different idea. I’ve got to bury something, and I guess it has to be something that’s already outside. My person takes my Frisbee outside and she throws it for me to catch. I got a new one for Christmas. It’s a nice, new, dog Frisbee. It’s softer than any I’ve had before. I wonder if it will bury.
This ground is still soft and moist from the rains we had a few days ago.
Almost done.
Okay I buried it. Time for another game of Frisbee.
And back to my bone. Like my new red nose?

Where did your person find a soft dog frisbee?? That’s what my Marley needs! Sometimes his mouth bleeds when he catches the frisbee 😦

Jaxart4animals, my person got it at PetSmart. Kong makes them. She says she wasn’t planning on getting me a new Frisbee until she saw this one and couldn’t resist. We both really like it.

Oh, sweet Bongo you buried your new soft Frisbee? You are so funny. At least you got to dig and bury something. Enjoy your new Frisbee and bone. We don’t care what color your nose is you are still mighty good lookin’ to us. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, I had great fun burying my Frisbee, but I couldn’t leave it buried because then how could I play Frisbee. Hugs and red nose kisses back to you.

Don’t worry, Bongo. Every dog seems to have that urge. Except Wonderbutt. He prefers to bring the toy outside, pee on it, and then try to bring it back inside the house. Sometimes he saves himself the trip outside, unfortunately.

Wonderbutt’s pretty cool. I think if I peed on my toys though my person would throw them out – or at least wash all the good smells out of them.

Yes. Wonderbutt’s person throws them away. Luckily, it’s only a select few that get baptized.

The last photo is absolutely adorable. Bongo, all my doggies love to dig too. Your new soft frisbee sounds pretty cool, I wonder if Chelsea and Harley would like one of those 🙂

Deannamelanie, I’m glad you like my photo. I bet Chelsea and Harley would like one of those Frisbees. It’s a lot easier on my mouth when I catch it.

Vanilla Bean, we have red rocks and red dirt here. I’m glad I don’t have to wear clothes or they would be red too – and my person says the stains don’t come out.

Cute Bongo – glad to know the soft Frisbee is dog approved. I’d been wondering. We’ve mulched a new tree to help it with the cold weather. It keeps getting holes dug in it ( “Bongo, I’ve go the hole dug, all I need to do is sneak my bone out…nosing it slowly closer and closer to the door….will keep you informed,” the German)

German, I’m rooting for you. Get it close enough to the door and then make a run for it.

I hope that helped your urge Bongo. You know you could bury that new bone int he house, Riva likes to take her stuff sometimes and move a cushion or a rug around until she has her goodie hidden, not quite the same as digging in the dirt, which she also does very well 🙂

Misty Shores, I decided to do something else with the bone rather than bury it. I finished it off.

Rumpy, it was the best of both worlds. The fun of burying something – but then I couldn’t miss my Frisbee tosses.

Don’t you have a soft bed ? Newfs bury treasure under their bed if they are not allowed to take outside 😉

Tylers, I have a soft bed, but I never thought of burying anything under it. Maybe because I don’t have to worry about Scratchy stealing my stuff.

These are great photos of you Bongo…I love seeing you in action. So how long does it take for the red stains on your nose to clear up? (I think it looks very cute, but I’m just wondering how long it lasts). 🙂

Oh Bongo, I love to see a doggie digging! It looks like such fun but digging for people is hard work.

December 29, 2011 at 5:34 pm
Patricia, the advantage for dogs is that we can stop when we want to. For some reason people always want to make their hole a certain size before they stop digging.

Leslie, you might know, but your friends are still protecting their bone. Just try to get it from them.

Digging is such a great way to spend time. There is dirt flying everywhere and you get take some with you at the end of the dig (much to the dismay of the house owner!). We pretty much feel as if the ‘red tinge’ in parts of our carpet are pretty much there for the long haul…and worth it.

Just Ramblin’ Pier, I agree – digging is so much fun. I dumped a bunch of dirt on the stairs going into the house (it was still on my Frisbee) but my person won’t let me bring much inside. She takes my Frisbee away if it’s full of dirt.
