Shivering

17 Jan

Bongo all WetNobody told me this would happen. Why am I so cold? Are you supposed to get cold after you go swimming? I’m shivering. And dripping.

Oh, let me shake this off. That was cool. Now I’m not dripping so much, but my people are.

How did you guys get wet? You didn’t go in the water. Are you shivering too?

Oh, no. What’s that funny sound? It sounds kind of like a woodpecker but it’s not coming from one of the trees. It sounds much closer than that. Very, very close. Is that sound coming from my teeth? They’re making a tune in rhythm to my shivering and I can’t stop them. What’s happening to me?

Whew! That’s better. Now that we’re back on the trail I’m not shivering any more. Person, why was I so cold? Why was my body shaking and my teeth making that funny noise?

What? Getting wet from swimming made me cold? But I can’t give up swimming. It’s too much fun. I know how we can fix it. Next time we come here, can you bring a blow dryer?

Henry, I get wet a lot in the summer because I like to play in the spray of the garden hose. It feels good because it’s hot outside. It was warm outside when I went swimming, but not warm enough to be wet in. I’ll still go swimming any time though. I just have to get my person to put a large towel on her checklist of things to bring.

…I suppose that kind of answered my question about the water! Poor thing! The “after” shivering was what I was thinking of. But then, a few moments of shivering are nothing compared to the joy of swimming! And as already said above, a towel will help eliminate shivers and castanets, next time!

somebody somewhere must have invented a wet suit for dogs..that is what you need. In this cold weather you must not go swimming in the water..it is too cold for your little ticker and although you are a fine fettle of a dog you can still catch cold…

So get your people to find out who makes wet suits and then get them to design one for you..that way you can swim without getting wet and without getting cold.

I am sending my love to keep you warm
