Who’s Lassie?

09 Apr

LassieOn my trails today I met a family. They were very nice and they gave me loves. My person and I walked on and then headed back home on a different trail.

We were walking along, minding our own business, when we noticed someone following us. Not many people use the trail we were on so it’s unusual to find somebody following us. Well, the people caught up with us and guess what! It was that family again. The one that had given me loves.

They were lost. They didn’t know how to get back to their car, so they decided they would follow me.

I felt pretty cool about that, but then they started calling me Lassie.

Lassie? Who’s Lassie? Don’t they know my name is Bongo? They should know that. After all, I’m famous.

My person had to explain who Lassie is and she found a picture of Lassie for me. Hey, wait a minute! Lassie looks like my friends the Collies. I don’t look like Lassie at all.

It’s a good thing I helped that family find their way back to their car. They were really confused. If it hadn’t been for me they might still be walking in circles on my trails.

Bongo, your like a modern day Lassie helping people in need! You really should have your own reality show!

Bassetmomma, that might be fun. A reality show on my trails.

Who’s Lassie?!! You are a very young dog, indeed :). I second Bassetmomma – you help all sorts of people as well as retelling wonderful Bible stories which remind us Who is most important – and Whom, if we follow Him, will help us help more people and animals. Lassie up :).

Bobbie Rae, I’m confused. Are we supposed to follow Lassie or Jesus? My person says it might be good to follow Lassie, but following Jesus is better. I haven’t come across either one of them walking on my trails.

You’re a great rescuer, Bongo. You deserve to be compared to Lassie… good for you!

Thanks Shary. It was fun to help that family find their car again. Especially when they gave me loves.

Lassie is a piker, compared to you, Bongo. You rock!

    Love and licks,

Bongo they sounded really confused. Good thing you were there to help them! If you were a Collie you would have just gotten a big haircut.

Bella and DiDi, I guess I was in the right place at the right time to help – and I’m glad I didn’t need a haircut.

You don’t know who Lassie is? That’s like saying you didn’t know Paul McCartney was in the Beatles. Wait. You don’t know who Paul McCartney is? What are we going to do about today’s generation? Honestly. 😉

Monica, I see Beatles on my trails sometimes. Is one of them named Paul McCartney? What? My person says Paul McCartney was a person and a Beatle. Now I’m totally confused.

No, you don’t look like Lassie [you are better looking!] but to the minds of people [everywhere it seems] the name “Lassie” is another way of saying “clever, kind dog who rescues people when they’re in bad situations and protects them”. Aren’t you proud now?!

Thanks Marina. That makes me very proud.

You would make a great rescue dog, Bongo, you must be very proud of yourself and believe me, you’re as famous as Lassie. I made a picture of a car last saturday with your name on it, and guess what, you have a FOOD-catering. I will post it on my blog so you can see of your own 😀

Angels Whisper, I must be famous. You made me my own car. Awesome! And food-catering! Can I eat all the food or do I have to share it? I’ll share some with you, of course.

That would be nice, Bongo, but most of the food is for you 🙂

Well done Bongo!!! You did a great job for those family! I think it was more than Lassie did!
Lassie is very famous in Japan, too and everybody loves her! My mom loved watching the anime of Lassie’s story when she was child! 🙂

Kevin, my person says she used to watch Lassie on television when she was a child, but she didn’t know someone had done anime of Lassie’s story. It’s cool to hear that Lassie is also famous in Japan.

Hey Bongo, Jet here. Lassie was an icon in K9 world, so any references are quite the compliment! Once again your detective and guidance systems would make Scooby Doo Academy proud!

Bongo, the German here. This Lassie thing is confusing. Sometimes when I’m concerned about something out the window and run to tell my person, she says, “What is it Lassie? Is TImmy in the well? I don’t know if Timmy is a dog or a person – and is “well” that loud annoying car? Beats me Bongo. But my person always gives me a hug and says only the best dogs get a “Lassie” So maybe it’s a special award for good dogs? I hope so. I’m trying to be good. And helping lost people is especially a “good dog” thing to do. So maybe it’s special award – you should ask for treats for being such a good Lassie! Big woof to ya

German, I guess we’re both good Lassies. I’m glad I’m not the only one that got confused about this. I like your idea about the treats. I might have to up my fee and ask for loves and treats.

I always thought Lassie was pretty, but I like Shepherds better, especially London from “The Littlest Hobo!”

Sandra, now I don’t feel so bad because my person didn’t even know who London was. She looked online though, and now we both know.

    Hi Bongo!
Thank you so much for the link back to us! We are sorry for a few days of not visiting, dad had to fix mom’s car and it took a few days. It was because of Lassie that dad wanted collies. Someday he hopes to name a collie Lassie. 🙂 Lassie was his first hero when he was a little kid. YOu Bongo, are even a bigger hero than Lassie! Your human should be very, very proud of you!

Again,l thank you for the link back!

Collies and Chuck, I was waiting for you to find the link back because I wanted to surprise you. I thought I might have to tell you about it. I hope your mom’s car is running well again. My person is still finishing up homework for her last class so she hasn’t been very good about reading all my friend’s blogs lately. She says she is getting closer, but she has to keep plugging away. -God Bless You too.

        Hi Bongo!
Our apologies for taking so long to reply! Thank you for the link back again.. you are the best Bongo and a big Collie hug for you and your human. 🙂
        Your impressed friends,
