Who’s the Boss?

23 Apr

Drawing of Little Dog BarkingI hope none of my blogging friends who are little dogs get offended by this, but today I was minding my business on my trails when a little dog walked by. And you know what that little dog did? That dog barked and barked at me as if he was the boss and he could take me on.

Well, I finished putting my scent on a bush and then I decided I was going to show that little dog who was really the boss. After all, I could walk right over that dog and not even notice he was there – except for the barking, that is.

So I decided not to waste any time and headed for that little dog full speed. I didn’t make it. Boing! I hit the end of my leash. And all this time that little dog kept barking at me.

Okay person, I guess you’re the boss today – but your arm is going to be sore tomorrow.

Oh, and person, we need to have a talk about not humiliating me in front of little dogs. This could really spoil my reputation.

We all know that you are the boss, Bongo! Super dog! By the way, thanks for the comment on my blog. Tell your person to take her time 🙂

Thanks Sweet Kitten. My person says that one of these days she’ll get caught up and we can get back to reading all my friend’s blogs again regularly.

Next time Bongo see if you can suck it in and slip out of your collar/leash then you can show that dog who is boss. Of course, your person will probably still show you that she is the boss. We need to start a seminar entitled “How to Train Your Human/Person.”

Higgins, if you don’t bark at me we can be great friends. A very little dog came by my house the other day and we had a great time playing. He didn’t bark.

As far as we are concerned Bongo…You are KING of the Trails….That little dog should show you respect, respect that you deserve!
It may take a couple of times, but I’m sure that little dog will be nice to you…:-)

Penny, that little dog better be nice to me – or else. Don’t tell my person I said that – she’ll keep me on a very tight leash.

Little dogs bark at Elka a lot. Judging from their body language, it’s because they’re scared and don’t know what else to do. I wish their people would pick up on that!

Little dogs are like that sometimes…. *gulp* We like to sound bigger than we look. Sometimes when I see a big strong dog like you I turn to a statue and when he gets close enough, I jump on his head. Cupcake Ambush!!!

Did your mama draw that picture of the dog?

You said it Rumpy. Trouble, trouble, trouble. Yes, I made my person draw that picture because she couldn’t get one with her camera in the middle of all that ruckus.

Branwen would bark ten times louded and then strut off… LOL…. Love the picture.. your human has a lot of talent. Mine would be a stick figure… ehehheehe

Hi Bongo, the German here. On yesterday’s walk we ran across 2 little dogs running wild and free by themselves. The little black Scotty puppy loved me and trotted along side for a long time. I was sad when my person found their person who put them back in their yard. It was great.
Apparently Scotties are my friends – but not Dachshunds. The Dachshund next door runs over and nips my toes every time he sees me – then yelps and runs behind his owner. He’s a trouble maker! So watch out for that little dog on the trail until you know whether he’s toe nipper or not!

German, I’m the same way. We found Houdini on the trails the other day. He’s a chihuahua. He came home with us and we had a great time playing together until my person found his person. I guess some little dogs are lots of fun and others – well, I won’t say.

    Hey Bongo, Jet here.

I hate when that leash thing happens. JJ has a leash like a mountain climber with some spring in it. She really bounces back! Mine is an old fashioned, so, Mom says it feels like I’m pulling her elbow out…

    • Bongo

      April 23, 2012 at 8:20 pm

Hey Jet, I wish we could get our people trained to LET GO OF THE LEASH. Mine is the retractable kind that can get long or short. Sometimes when it’s been long my person suddenly makes it short and I come to the end of it before I expect to.

Hey Bongo, I know what you mean. There’s nothing like the thrill of chasing a feline through the neighbors’ yards across streets filled with those car thingies… imagine, I take off and then boom, I do a wheelie!

      • Bongo

        It’s such a drag, isn’t it Jet.

Bongo, that little upstart of a dog had no right to bark at you. Someone needs to tell it to show a little respect. You deserve it!

Monica, I’m so glad you know how I feel. I think my person should put that dog in its place if she won’t let me do it.

Little dogs always bark at Lexie and Mica I think they feel threatened We always tell the newfs to just keep walking and don’t pay attention that everything is OK so they keep walking 🙂

    • Bongo

      April 23, 2012 at 10:54 pm

Lexie and Mica have more self control than I do. But then, they’re even bigger than I am.

Not to mention that they want to get teats for walking on and ignoring the barking.

This little dog obviously had no idea with who he was messing with! But -as I often tell you- you are a superior dog, so you shouldn’t pay any attention. [and always take care of your person’s well being first… a person with an aching arm may mean less walks!]

Marina, I try to think of my person first, but sometimes I just do something and then think about it later.

There is a saying that “A barking dog never bites” , so the little dog might be a coward! So you are Boss, Bongo!!! 🙂
P.S. the picture of the little dog is lovely!!! (OOps…sorry Bongo!)

Kevin, I bet that little dog is a coward. And it’s okay to say good things about that little dog’s picture – it’s only an artist’s rendition. Thanks.

I never thought about how a dog would feel. You’re so articulate – you could teach a class on this!

Bongo, you really have to teach the little dog a lesson, he has to stop barking at you. Doesn’t he know who you are? Give him a little growl next time.. but don’t forget to say ‘sorry’ to your person afterwards 😉

    • Bongo

      April 25, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Angels Whisper, obviously that little dog doesn’t know who I am or he’d be too impressed to bark. Maybe I should wear a sign.
