Red Things and Round Balls

24 Apr

Bongo and a bush with red flowersI was walking along my trails today and I noticed that things had changed. Yesterday in this spot there were a bunch of green leaves here.

Today, those green leaves have red things poking out all over. I sniffed around trying to figure out where those red things were coming from, but I couldn’t figure it out. I guess I’d better put on my detective hat.

.

.

Manzanita bush with berries

While I was still pondering all those red things I found these little round balls all over the Manzanita bushes. These are the same bushes that had flowers on them in January. Where have all the flowers gone? I’m not sure but I think those little round balls took them away.

Flowers hanging on juniper tree

Detective Dog is getting really flustered now. Red things and round balls. What next? I walked on a little way and almost stopped in my tracks. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, right on my trails. Juniper trees don’t have flowers, but this one had flowers hanging all through it. I’m not sure if I can get to the bottom of this one. I might have to climb that tree to do it. Maybe if I’m really nice to Scratchy he’ll climb it for me.

Symphony of Daisies

I was about ready to give up and go home. Too many mysteries for me. Then I saw it. A symphony of daisies with a globe mallow conductor. Maybe they can sooth my troubled brain to sleep with their music.

I’m not sure about that big word Viciously Sweet, but I think I like it. I’ll have to ask my person what it means.

Genevieve and Cupcake, maybe that’s why we haven’t had as much wind as usual this spring. My mind is being blown instead.

You are so lucky to have a trail that is ever-changing. Always something new and often it’s a beautiful new thing. Thanks for the pictures.

Anne, I guess I would have some trouble with that camera, but since my person insists on always coming on my trails with me I put her to work.

Bassetmomma, people think in Arizona all we have is sand and cactus, but my trails have lots of things – and a little sand and cactus too.

Everything is in bloom, Bongo, and it’s beautiful. I like the tree, it’s very impressive. Did the symphony of daisies work on your troubled mind? – you’re so funny, Bongo, at least you bring me in balance 😀

Thanks Angels Whisper. I’m still trying to get those daisies to play some music though. I think they’re a silent symphony.

You live in a truly awesome place Bongo – and the ‘desert flowering’ is just one more part of the awesomeness. Enjoy! I love the cherry blossom at my home, short lived but awesome just the same. Your trails are never boring!

Susan, the wildflowers in the desert are truly beautiful. Not that they aren’t everywhere, but I think that splash of color is extra special in the desert.

Jet, I keep looking for more clues to solve my mysteries every time I go out on my trails. I especially look for clues with interesting smells.
