Sometimes I like to play a game with my person when we’re out on my trails. I’m not sure if she really likes playing it with me. She doesn’t always act like she’s having much fun. I think it’s great though.
I call the game Follow the Leader, and of course I’m always the leader. My person tries to lead but I always run back in front of her.
The best way to play this game is to go around a tree and refuse to come back the way I went in. Since my person is attached to my leash she has to follow me.
She doesn’t seem to want to follow me most of the time. She keeps mumbling something about low branches. I’m not sure what she’s talking about. I fit right under them with no problem. If she would walk on four legs like I do she’d fit under them too.
She usually spoils the game at this point. I’m trying to go out the other side and she’s trying to pull me back the way I went in. We usually end up at a standstill.
She’s not going to win. She’s going to have to go under those branches.
What!? She tricked me. She unhooked my leash and pulled it around the tree. Come on, person. You’re supposed to crawl under those branches. What fun is this?

Ooh yu naughty dog Bongo – your person is not made to walk on all fours like you! Cut her some slack! (But I have to agree, it IS a good game – just not too often, OK?)

Susan, I think my person would have a lot of fun if she decided to play the right way.

Hey Bongo, Jet here.
Hey that’s a good one… I do the same thing around trees, telephone poles, street signs and the like. Even better is when JJ and I do this at the same time from opposite directions! Mom looks like a person on a Saturday cartoon.
Have a great day.
Bongo
May 11, 2012 at 9:48 pm
Hey Jet, that must be loads of fun to do that at the same time with JJ. Sometimes it’s nice to be an only dog, but at other times it would be really nice to have a buddy.

JJ had a sleepover at Dr. Shaffer’s last night, so I had an only dog day/night with Mom… and yes, it’s fun to be an only dog and yes, I do enjoy having a pal.

And I ask you Bongo: what kind of a leader would you be if your person was also standing on 4 feet… I seriously doubt you’d want that! Leadership has its little problems!
Bongo
May 12, 2012 at 11:42 am
Marina, I guess you’re right. It would be harder to drag my person around because her “feet” wouldn’t be as good as mine.

Bongo, I think we became disconnected on WordPress as I have not been seeing your posts on blog reader. I will unfollow and follow again to see if that solves the problem.

Bassa, I was wondering if that happened. I stopped seeing your posts too, but am still getting the emails. My person has just been very busy lately and hasn’t had much time to read posts. She says she has finished some of her projects now and might have a little more time soon.

That’s why we like our woods walks, they’re off leash. We always play follow the leader sometimes Lexie sometimes Mica but we each get to step where it’s the easiest. But sometimes we leaders have places its hard to go. Like over very big trees that are down. Our people get over but we have to find a way around. Its a fun game to play. Happy Mothers Day to your person:-)
Bongo
May 12, 2012 at 1:13 pm
Lexie and Mica, It sounds like you have lots of fun playing follow the leader. I wish I could go off leash on my walks but my person says no way. Happy Mother’s Day to your mom too.

LOL!!! Oh my….. Laddie use to love to do this to me on the trails. We would get close to a tree and at the last minute he would walk on the other side and there I am running right into the tree…Trevor would get mad.. snort and grumble as we straightened out the mess and then stomp off leading us on the trail again….I dont know if you ever saw the big bulldog on Looney Tunes cartoon or the Bulldog Butch on Tom and Jerry but his stomping walk was like that… LOL…. I’d give anything to take Trevor on one more walk… Great post, we laughed and it brought back dome great memories…
