No Wash

15 May

Bongo heading to the washDo you see anything? Besides me, that is.

Neither do I.

But my person says there’s something there.

That picture is me, heading down the trail to my wash. My person wouldn’t let me go there. She made me go on my regular trails today.

Why? She made up some lame excuse about something you can’t see. Invisible things that fly around and irritate you. Little bad spirits or something.

She says they always show up around this time of year and they just showed up today. I don’t even notice them. I think my person made them up. She says they’re all over my trails but they’re worse in my wash.

She could have come up with a better story if she didn’t want to go in my wash. Like a giant flood on its way that might overtake us, or a mountain lion lurking behind a tree waiting to jump out at us. Or a bunch of coyotes waiting to lure me into their pack. But no, she made up a sad story about invisible things. She even has a name for them. She calls them “no see ‘ems.”

Well, the next time I don’t see a cat, or I don’t see a rabbit, or even a quail, I’m chasing after it anyway. I can play this “no see ‘em” game too.

No See ‘Ems. Ha. A likely story. I’ll believe it when I see it! Huh? What a minute… I just mixed myself up.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, you’ve got it. You can’t see ’em so how can you believe in them. And my person says I make up stories.

Ask your person are the ‘no see ums’ also called ‘midgies’? We get them here and they are a PAIN. Your person is more than right – you avoid them. Sorry but this one you MUST trust your person on Bongo. I hope you get down to the wash sooner than later. Hugs.

Susan, my person says the no see ‘ums are cedar gnats. They’re around for about a month every year. That’s a long time that I have to stay out of my wash.

Bongo! No-see-ums, NOOOOOOO! Not the teensy biting bugs that hang out waiting to swarm on you and make you itchy. Terrible critters. Don’t go there Bongo!

Karen, I’ve got to figure out a way to get rid of those things. It’s not fair of them to take over my wash and chase everyone away.

Maybe a gully washer would help? Could you hire one? (Sigh, I wish. I hate those things)

Karen, I’ll have to look in the classifieds and see if there are any gully washers for hire. I’m sure they could get rid of those things.

Cee, my person said she’s not seeing anything. I think she just doesn’t want to go in my wash.

    Little bad spirits? 😮

    • Bongo

      May 15, 2012 at 1:53 pm

Dianda, you can’t see ’em so they must be some kind of spirit – and they’re taking over my wash.

Elka has such short hair, that if she gets a mosquito bite, where it swells makes me all worried and think that she has a tumor or something. Bugs are bad news 😦

      May 15, 2012 at 1:54 pm

Jen, I guess I’d better not invite Elka on my trails for a few weeks.

Bongo, no-see-ums are real things. They are awful! They get in your hair and ears and eyes and up your nose. Your person is doing you a favor keeping you away from them. So be nice…

Patricia, you mean she’s not making this up? I thought she was just tired of going in my wash.

She’s not making it up. She is protecting you from some mighty bothersome bugs.

Hey Bongo, I wouldn’t believe that either except I had to turn around on my last walk too cause of stupid black flies… nope I didn’t see ‘um either…. Lola

Lola, you mean you have those things where you are? I guess I’ll believe it then. I can trust a dog.

Yup, we have plenty & I can even send you some. I don’t like when they get in my nose but at least they don’t bother the other end because of my nice fan tail…

        May 16, 2012 at 12:21 pm

Lola, maybe if you send some my way and I send some your way they’ll meet in the middle and stay there.

A perfect solution that only a brilliant dog mind could come up with… yeah lets send the bugs to middle earth… Lola

You have to watch out for those tinyblack flies….They are the WORST…Your person was right to avoid Bongo….Stay clear of them.

Penny, two dogs in a row telling me it’s true. I guess my person is right then and I’d better stay out of my wash for awhile – or find a way to convince those things to leave.

I hope those flies leave soon…they are nasty

        May 16, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Penny, my person says they hang around for about a month every year. Maybe I could change the calendar so May is a shorter month. I could add the extra days to February. Then those “no see ums” would leave sooner.

We don’t see anything either Bongo. You mean she sees something that you can’t even smell?? That sounds fishy to us, we always smell everything whether Mom can see it or not!!

Bongo, at first I didn’t saw anything, but than I took a closer look under the microscope and I saw lots of moving fishy things called bacteriums. Maybe your person has microscope eyes, is that the clue? 🙂

Angels Whisper, I don’t think my person sees that well. She’s just making it all up.

Bongo, I googled what ‘no-see ems(ums)’ as I didn’t know what they were and found out that they’re really annoying because they seem to be harmful like your person said! Please stay away from your wash for a while Bongo!

    • Bongo

      May 16, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Kevin, my person says the ones here are called cedar gnats and they’re mostly annoying and have itchy bites, but some people (and dogs?) are allergic to them and the bites swell up really big. I guess I’ll stay out of my wash for awhile.

Patreciau, my person says the one’s here are called cedar gnats. I think they’re too little to eat anyway.

Beware of “no see ‘ems” Bongo. Sometimes they become painful “feel ’ems”.

      May 17, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Bassa, I guess I’ll vote for breezes then. My person says the breeze today must have blown most of the “no see’ems” away. She even let me go in the wash. Woo woo!

LOL! BOngo, Ginger says in the middle of the night bark at the no see ems.. that will get the point across! LOL…. The rest of us say listen to your person… she is protecting you.. 🙂

      May 17, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Collies, that barking thing is a good idea. I don’t do it very often so it always gets my person up. At least I got to go in the wash today. My person says the breeze must have blown most of the “no see ’ems” away.

Listen to her this time Bongo ’cause those no see ems are very pesky and they do bite!

Bassetmomma, I’ve been listening because I don’t like the bites – but I wish I could wash those things out of my wash.

Ooo Bongo dear! Better to stay safe and trust Mom!! I’ve read many of your furiends telling you that the “no see ‘ems” are TRUE!!! Keep Safe Bongo!

Popcorn, I’ve found out since then about those “no see ’ems.” My person sat down on the trail while she was talking on the phone and they started congregating around us. We had to leave.
