Color the Sky

25 Jun

Bongo on the TrailI was walking along my trails today minding my own business when I looked up in the sky and saw something strange. White things.

I’ve seen those white things in the sky before, but it’s been a long time. I was beginning to think that the only color the sky came in was blue.

Oh yeah, clouds. That’s what those white things are called. I’d almost forgotten.

.

Clouds

Oh, no! Those clouds remind me of something else that starts coming this time of year. Something I don’t like at all. Thunder!

Hey person, let’s get home. I don’t want to find any thunder out here. Some of my friends who live other places are already getting thunder. Yikes!

What? There’s no thunder in those clouds? How do you know, person?

They might not look like thunder clouds. But I don’t want to take any chances. Have you got any blue crayons, person?

why do you think it is that most dogs are afraid of thunder? After all it is only a rumble and cannot hurt you. My dogs are like that , they hide under the bed, and shiver because they are afraid… Of what?
    lots of love

Patreciau, it’s the sound and the flashes of light and the strange electric feeling in the air. It’s really creepy and scary.

Don’t be afraid of thunder, Bongo. It’s just light and noise, like TV. That can’t kill you. Soccer players, helium balloons, and ladders are another story.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

Cupcake, my person knew a dog that was afraid of hot air balloons. I’ve never been close enough to one to know if they’re scary.

    Hey Bongo,

Those clouds are pretty buddy – I hope you don’t get any Thunder, but try not to be afraid if you do, I usually just hang out with Mum and then I’m not scared anymore 🙂

    Wags to all

    Snoops 🙂

Snoopy, the thunder is not nearly so bad when my person is with me, but sometimes she leaves me alone in the house. That’s when it’s really scary.

They don’t look like thunder clouds to me!

Dianda, my person says they’re not thunder clouds too, but they’re still making me nervous.

Ohhhh Bongo, we had that thunder stuff today & the rain came down so hard I couldn’t see outside. It was awful & I had to pace & pant and finally hide under the desk. Then my person left me! for the dentist of all things & I couldn’t go. You have to find a safe place cause that thunder gets all in your ears & bounces around in there…Lola

Lola, I can’t believe your person left you in that storm. Sometimes that’s the worst part. When my person tries to leave during a storm I try rushing out the door. Then she can’t leave because she knows I’ll run out of the house and try to escape the thunder.

Well my person keeps telling me that I should be the one going to the dentist cause I’m the one who knocked her tooth out. I don’t know why I should go cause my tooth was just fine after the collision, but I think I would rather have been there. You think they have thunder at dentist’s offices?

Lola, my person says that dentists are to people what thunder is to dogs – so they must have thunder at dentist’s offices.

You have beautiful skies Bongo! We have clears days too but they are not all that often here… 🙂

Collies and Chuck, our skies have been nothing but blue for over a month. My person likes the thunder clouds when they come. She says they are beautiful. I wouldn’t mind them if they weren’t so noisy.

Bongo maybe some blue sun goggles? (Although those sweet white cloud layer looks sort of like ice cream….now I’m hungry…trails are supposed to make you hungry, right Bongo?)

      June 25, 2012 at 5:58 pm

Karen, I think we need an ice cream shop at the end of my trails – one that sells blue goggles too. I’m getting hungry now. I’d better go out on my trails and look for that ice cream.

I hate thunder! We don’t have storms here very often, but I get really nervous and I hide in my person’s closet. I feel pretty safe in there.

Lola, I’m glad I’m not the only one that hates thunder. You don’t want to come visit me in July and August, but we could have a dance party on my trails any other time of the year.

Rumpy, you are so lucky. I wish we weren’t gonna have thunder here, but the clock is ticking.

We’ve already got quite a lot of thunder this year where I live. I’m not scared of it at all (I know many dogs don’t like it though) but! my mom’s so scared of thunder and hates to go out during thunder, so I can’t take her walk….*sniff sniff*

Kevin, you’re so lucky not to be scared of thunder. I guess you have to take care of your mom during storms though.

Those are marshmallow clouds Bongo! Nothing to fear from them!

Brown Newfies, I like marshmallow clouds, but I sure hope they don’t turn into thunderheads.

Angels Whisper, I would need a long ladder first.

Oh, Bongo as you are such a clever dog and you learn quickly, why don’t you study clouds so that after a while you know which are the ones that bring rain…Also you can smell them! Our “weather report” dog knows when rain is miles miles away [she curls up shaking in a specific corner in the house!]. That blue crayon might not be such a bad idea after all!

    • Bongo

      June 26, 2012 at 4:43 pm

Marina, the smells idea is the best. I’m so busy checking smells on the ground that I usually forget to look at the sky.

Hey Bongo, Linus is with you. He hates those thunder storms. We got him a thundershirt and even though we don’t get much thunder around here the 4th of July is right around the corner.

    Happy Monday!

Colby, my person got me an Anxiety Vest (like a Thundershirt) at the end of last thunder season when she heard about them. I’m hoping it helps me, but I still don’t like the idea of thunder.

That’s a clever idea – paint the sky blue. Maybe we could all learn a lesson from that and make it our daily motto

Susan, paint the sky blue sounds like a great motto.

Chancy and Mumsy, no thunder yet. My person says we could really use some rain here too though.
