Hey, what is this? This used to be my trail. Yesterday it was my trail. It’s always been my trail. It still smells like my trail. But now it’s got branches in the way, and freshly planted prickly pear cactus, and some square thing sticking out of the ground.
I guess I’ll have to go on my other trail. It’s a good trail too, but I like having options.
Oh, now I know why the first trail is blocked.
Somebody wanted me to go on the other trail because the dogs are out in the yard near the trail. And they like to bark at me. I think I’ll ignore them. That makes them bark even more.
But I’m still confused. How am I going to go on a trail when there’s cactus growing in the middle of it? It wasn’t there yesterday. Maybe it will be gone again tomorrow. My person says there’s been a trail there forever and it even has trail signs on it.
I guess someone needed to plant some cactus and wasn’t sure where to put it.

Bongo, I’m confused, too. I don’t understand why they would plant cactus right on the designated trail and post a sign to stay on the trail? I’m scratchin’ my head on this one…

Lindy, there were two trails that met back up together. I guess someone figured we only needed one – or maybe they were just trying to justify their jobs.

Oh no, Bongo, someone stole your trail…Bummer!

Jaz, I’m really bummed about this. I might have to go tromping through that cactus – but I have to be careful of pricklers.

Do ber careful Bongo, taking cactus needles out of your nose is no fun, I had to do it to my dog Chico once

Jaz, I haven’t gotten the pricklers in my nose, but I’ve had them in my feet. Not fun.

Like Lindy I don’t understand the sign.

Patricia, I guess somebody thinks that after all these years we no longer need two trails that go to the same place. The only problem is that one of my other trails exits into the area where they planted the cactus and I have to tromp through it anyway.

Bongo – what is really going on down there? Seen any strange lights in the sky recently?

Karen, maybe that’s it. Aliens landed on that trail and they don’t want anybody to find them.

Don’tcha hate when the things you’re used to get changed? That bugs me! Somebody needs to bring back the trail you know and love.
Love and licks,

Cupcake, I so agree. The last time they tried to block a trail people moved all the stuff they blocked it with. This time they really got serious.

Hah, this kind of goes along with my “people have signs and motives that dogs totally don’t understand” post from the other day. What does Bongo care about cacti? Seriously!

Jen, people put strange things up sometimes. Most of them are only good for marking on. I have to be careful walking over that cacti though. I know about pricklers.

Misty Shores, I think we’re all supposed to squeeze onto the skinny little trail that goes the same place – sort of.

Anyhow, big hikers over here too. Looks like you had lots of fun.

Erika and Sebastian, thanks for stopping by and commenting. We have trails near my house that my person and I are on almost every day. This time someone messed with one of the trails though.

Rumpy, it’s kind of a natural path for water when it rains – which would keep things from growing on it, so it might stay a trail whether it likes it or not.

That is really strange that someone would plant cactus right in the middle of a trail. The cactus could not grow very well and someone will get stuck (pricked) by them if the accidentally stepped there. I hope they go away soon so everyone and especially you can enjoy the trail again.

Lexie and Mica, sometimes people plant cactus when they’re trying to make a trail go away. The biggest problem is we have to go through that area to get back to the trailhead from another trail we go on. I guess we’re not supposed to use that other trail either.

Oh no….it doesn’t seem to be nice….who did it? Surely must be someone who is really mean! They might be jealous of you having some trails…. I hope that this trail comes back to you soon. *hugs*

Kevin, it’s actually the Forest Service that did it. Sometimes they think we only need a few trails to walk on.
