Hey person, what are you doing with those prickly pear fruits on my blog?
You’re what!? You’re making bread with them. Since when is this a cooking blog?
Person, this is going a little too far. I can see if you were making dog treats maybe. That could go on my blog. But prickly pear bread? Those prickly pear fruits don’t even smell appetizing.
Throw those prickly pears in the garbage and start making me some dog treats.
Wait a minute. What’s that pink stuff you’ve got there? Did Scratchy do that? Let me have a look.
You’re putting that in the oven? What about the dog treats?
Hey, that stuff is starting to smell good.
You mean I get to eat some of this?
Hey person, you’ve got some more prickly pear fruits left. What are you going to make next?

I didn’t know you were a foodie, Bongo 🙂
September 13, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Sweet Kitten, food is good. As long as I get to eat some of it I don’t mind if it goes on my blog.

Never heard of making break with prickly pears. Interesting. Does it taste good? Is it a sweet tasting bread? Very curious here.
September 13, 2012 at 6:37 pm
Susan, the bread is good but the recipe my person used only has a little honey and isn’t very sweet. My person says if she does something with prickly pears again she probably won’t make bread. It uses the chunks and most other recipes she found use the juice. The fruit has tons of seeds. They’re very little and hard and it’s almost impossible to get every one of them out of the chunks of fruit. She’s afraid someone might break a tooth on one.

How was that prickly pear bread Bongo??? Was it any good???
Woof-Woof from Penny…She wants to know…LOL

Alex and Penny, that bread is good, but my person says she would have like it sweeter. Next time she’ll know.

I love pink food! Pink is my favorite flavor. I think that bread looks delicious, B!
Love and licks,
September 13, 2012 at 6:38 pm
Cupcake, that pink bread was pretty awesome. There’s going to be more pink food on my blog tomorrow.

Prickly pear dog cookies could be next!
September 13, 2012 at 6:39 pm
Kat n Collies, that sounds yummy. I’ll have to get my person working on a recipe for prickly pear dog cookies.
September 13, 2012 at 1:11 pm
Yummy! Candy or jelly next?…ok dog cookies on the schedule…
September 13, 2012 at 6:40 pm
Karen, my person says she can buy prickly pear candy and jelly at the tourist shops around here, so she tried something else. I’m still waiting for the dog cookies though.
September 13, 2012 at 2:38 pm
Ah – now I’ve been enlightened & that looks pretty good to me. Bongo I’m betting you could “talk” your way into getting some homemade treats – with that face who would refuse you?
September 13, 2012 at 6:41 pm
Lola, I guess I’ll have to try my charm on my person. Prickly pear dog treats sound really good.
September 13, 2012 at 2:45 pm
That looks yummy!
September 13, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Misaki, it was yummy. I’m waiting for my person to get the second loaf out of the freezer so I can have some more.
September 13, 2012 at 5:16 pm
Always expanding your repertoire, Bongo! Never say never to what may go into your blog :).
September 13, 2012 at 6:43 pm
Roberta, I guess I learned that. As long as I get some of the food it can go on my blog any time. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

That sounds very interesting and it looks good 🙂
September 13, 2012 at 9:18 pm
Misty Shores, it was good. My person is still hiding some in the freezer. I’ve got to figure out how to get in there.
September 13, 2012 at 9:25 pm
Those pears look very strange I wouldn’t have know you could eat them. The bread looked great, did it taste good??
September 14, 2012 at 12:04 am
Lexie and Mica, you’ve got to make sure you get all the pricklers off those pears before you eat them, but they made some good bread.
September 14, 2012 at 12:09 am
Yes!, you got something of that pricklypearpie 🙂
September 14, 2012 at 11:43 am
Angles Whisper, it was good but I still think my person should make some prickly pear dog treats.
September 14, 2012 at 12:48 am
Ah, that looks delicious! […and so do you , errr sorry!]

*drools drools* The prickly pear bread looks very yummy! and the fruit itself seems to be delicious, too! Does it taste like what? a little bit sour? or sweet? How does it smell before baking and after?
Prickly pear looks like dragon fruit except the color of pulp as dragon fruit’s is white.
very curious about the taste! 🙂
*whisper* How did sorbe taste, Bongo? Woof?
September 14, 2012 at 11:47 am
Kevin, all that prickly pear stuff was really good, but the prickly pears themselves don’t seem to have a lot of flavor. I could taste the other stuff – orange juice in the bread and peaches and honey in the sorbet – more.
September 14, 2012 at 7:10 am
This is wonderful news, Bongo, and love your mug face doing the taste test! I bet you would be a great food reviewer…:)
September 14, 2012 at 11:48 am
Sunshine, I think food reviewer would be a great job. Maybe I should change my blog so I could eat different things all the time.
September 14, 2012 at 12:19 pm
I Love your thinking, Bongo!

September 14, 2012 at 7:37 am
How does prickly pear tastes? 😮
September 14, 2012 at 11:49 am
Dianda, the prickly pear fruit doesn’t have a lot of flavor by itself. I could taste the other things in the bread more.
September 14, 2012 at 7:56 am
Looks yummy Bongo. I am jealous, I want some too. You what? You ate it all? Hope you didnt get stomach ache again! Your person is very talented.
September 14, 2012 at 11:52 am
Thanks Susan. I would have eaten it all if my person had left it on the counter. But she stashed it where I couldn’t get to it. I’m so disappointed.
September 15, 2012 at 8:43 am
That looks yummy. Will you share, Bongo?
September 15, 2012 at 11:32 am
Sandra, come on over. I think my person still has a loaf stashed in the freezer.
September 15, 2012 at 8:59 am
It looks good. I love the color. The last two pictures are especially good!
September 15, 2012 at 11:34 am
Thanks Bassa, it was good. I love it when I get to post with food – because that means I get to eat it.
September 16, 2012 at 5:07 pm
mmmmmmmmm….. that looks good!!! Great post and we think you like the food on your blog Bongo! hehehehe 🙂
September 16, 2012 at 5:26 pm
Collies, my blog can be a food blog anytime as long as I get to eat the food.
September 17, 2012 at 4:27 am
Oh, now I want to take a piece of that bread D:
September 17, 2012 at 3:40 pm
YouKai, come on over. My person hid some of it from me in the freezer.

October 10, 2012 at 8:26 am
That bread looks yummy, Bongo…you’re one lucky pooch.
October 10, 2012 at 3:08 pm
Zen and Genki, I guess there is an advantage to letting my person put her baking stuff on my blog. Otherwise I’d probably never get a sample. And it was good.
