Hey person, what did you do with all those prickly pear fruits you had left over? I hope you made something good for me.

You made juice? I don’t want juice. I want something good to eat.
Pink juice!? I told you I didn’t want juice. I don’t want juice of any color. Now come on person – let’s get some treats here.
Ice cream!? You made ice cream? Now we’re talking. Is all that for me?
What? I only get a little dish? What are you going to do with all the rest?
What do you mean that isn’t for me? Where’s mine?
Mmmm! This is good! And I like this dish even better than that other dish. I don’t have to worry about breaking it.
I’m almost done with this. Can I have some more?
Hey, wait a minute! How come Scratchy gets some? He didn’t even help get the prickly pear fruit.

So glad you got some Bongo and, really, Scratchy only seems to have gotten the tiniest little bit, I don’t think you need to worry about that.

Susan, Scratchy didn’t even finish his and I haven’t been able to get hold of his dish yet to finish it off. My person has been watching me too closely lately.

Susan, I think my person would be easier to train if Scratchy wasn’t always whispering in her ear.

Lola and Diane, I guess they do match, don’t they. I think it means my person needs to keep giving me the prickly pear stuff.

Misaki, this was really a special treat. I hardly ever get ice cream. I think my person still has a stash in the freezer. I’m going to have to bug her for more.

Bumpy Road, my person says she would be glad to share if you want. Do you have prickly pears in Australia? They sure do make yummy treats.

I’ll have to ask next time I’m at the farmers’ market – all I know about them is that they used to be considered a noxious weed and at one point took over thousands of square miles of farming land and made it useless!

They do grow pretty easily wherever they’re planted around here.

I see you’re wearing your vest. Is there so much thunder around?
At least you’re getting lovely treats, to keep your mind off it.
Bongo
September 14, 2012 at 6:12 pm
Delft, we’ve had thunder almost every day for the last two months, but my person says she thinks it’s gone now. She just checked the ten day forecast and it shows sunny and no rain every day. Woo woo!

Ice cream is the best. Your person is very generous to give you some–but not too much–it could make your tummy hurt and cause some embarrassing runs–if you know what I mean.

September 14, 2012 at 9:24 pm
Patricia, my person gave me cheese once and that’s what happened. Now she never gives it to me any more. I guess that’s why I don’t get much ice cream either.

*drools* Awww….Bongo….I love sorbe and ice cream!!!! and this prickly pear sorbe looks soooo delicious! OMD! Scratchy enjoys tasting, too! You’re locky family Bongo! 🙂
I now know that Prickly Pear doesn’t have so much flavor and taste, so what about the nutrition of the Prickly Pear Fruit? Is it good for health like lots of polyphenol?
Bongo
September 15, 2012 at 11:32 am
Kevin, that ice cream is really good. My person says prickly pear is good for health. One of the recipes she found is for prickly pear health water – which is just the juice frozen into ice cubes and then put into a glass of water. Apparently it has lots of chromium and vanadium which suppresses appetite and also potassium and minerals. This is far too technical for me.

Ginger, my person probably won’t let me do that because she’d be the one picking all the pricklers out of Scratchy.
