Last Flower of the Season

07 Nov

Purple FlowerYou’d think it was the last wildflower ever the way my person is taking pictures of it. Yeah, I suppose it might be the last flower of the season – but is it really that special?

I mean, look. It’s a puny little purple thing. The only one on the bush. If that even is a bush. I think it’s really a bunch of weedy little suckers winding their way around the rocks. And they just happened to have one tiny flower – the last throwback of summer.

Purple Flower

So can we go now? And leave that little thing to die a wintry death? Yeah, I know it’s not winter here yet but it will be soon. Believe me. I checked the weather and I feel winter on its way.

Yeah, I know it felt like summer today, but It’s coming. So forget about that flower because it’s gonna be gone.

***

What? You’re done taking pictures and you want to go now?

Wait a minute. I’m not ready to go.

Bongo in back eating weeds - flower in the foreground

I’m not finished with these weeds. Go ahead and take some more pictures.

I know deep inside you like that flower, Bongo!!! It’s gorgeous by the way!
Maybe your person could continue taking pictures of both you with the weeds and the flower!
    🙂

Marina, my person says thanks that you like the flower pictures. She can take all the pictures of me and weeds that she wants – as long as I’m busy munching on them.

You’re trying to be tough, Bongo, but really you’re sad to see summer go!

Will and Eko, I will miss the summer. But maybe we’ll get some snow. I love snow!

What a beautiful flower. We humans definitely need a little extra time to enjoy summer beauty before it gets too cold for blossoms. Your patience is appreciated!

Thanks Shary. Sometimes I just want to drag my person along though – I mean, she does that to me when I’m sniffing something really good.

If it is the last flower of the season, it sure is a pretty one to shoulder that burden!

Thanks Jen. It’s just sitting there all by itself – but at least there’s some weeds nearby.

Thanks Karen. It’s supposed to get cold this weekend so my person can put her camera away. I just hope it doesn’t freeze my weeds.

you are the most unpredictable dog..are you sure that you are not female? One minute you want to ‘let’s go’ and the next you want to stay….brrrr.
It’s a very pretty flower and it has taken a lot of effort to get to this point so you should appreciate its beauty.
i loves ya Bongo ..sweet kisses xxxxxx and loves

Patreciau, I don’t think I’m unpredictable. I just hadn’t found that great patch of weeds yet. That flower didn’t have any good messages on it so I wasn’t interested. I love you too.

Angels Whisper, we’ve had perfect weather all week – but my person says it’s supposed to get very cold tomorrow. I don’t think I’m ready for it. Guess I’ll go out and check that flower again.

Thanks Dianda. The weeds were pretty good too. I’m afraid they’re going to go away when it gets cold tomorrow.

That flower is very beautiful, Bongo! The light purple of the color and the shape of the flower are lovely! 🙂

Thanks Kevin – or at least my person says thanks. It is a very different kind of flower.

Remy, it will definitely need something. Our first winter storm is on its way.

    Hey Bongo, Jet here.

Dude, gotta give your human a little … ya know… creative time… think of it as their “sniffy time!”

      November 10, 2012 at 11:57 am

Hey Jet, I don’t mind too much as long as she finds flowers with weed patches nearby. But she always seems to be dragging me away from the good sniffs so sometimes payback is necessary.

Ginger says eat your weeds then before you leave bite the flower off the top and that will be that… hehehe

Ginger, I’ll have to remember that. I didn’t need to with this one though. Yesterday it looked pretty sad after having rain pound down on it for awhile.

I like to see flowers in winter. It makes me think of Spring and warmth.

Sandra, it was still really warm here when that picture was taken. Now that it’s cold I don’t think that flower is going to last much longer.
