Yesterday was a blustery, snowy kind of day and I didn’t want to be outside at all. But today was a different kind of day. The sun came out and the air was crisp and cool. The perfect day for a walk.
It’s a good thing today was a good walking day because I found an animal that I’ve never seen on my trails before. Today I made friends with a raccoon.
I didn’t know what to expect from a raccoon because I’ve never met one before.
.
At first he was kind of shy.
He even tried to run away from me.
But the raccoon’s friends tried to help. He didn’t seem to be afraid of them at all, even though they weren’t raccoons.
Finally we became friends. That little raccoon put his fear aside and patted my head.
He even taught me how to play a game.
I had so much fun with my new friend today. I hope he’s just the first of a whole family of raccoons that I get to meet on my trails.

How cool! Looks like you had fun. Ginger says he looks like a squirrel to her so eat him… dad is holding his head and sighing again… wonder why?

Ginger, that little raccoon was far too cute to eat. And not pesky like a squirrel.

That may well be the cutest raccoon I’ve ever seen. …. It’s also the ONLY raccoon I’ve ever seen. I hope I see one by my house. I want to taste him.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Cupcake, tasting licks are good on this kind of raccoon. Just make sure you don’t bite one of them. He was awfully cute.

Marina, it was much more fun playing with a raccoon than it was braving the terrible snowstorm.

Well, thanks to you and your love of dogs, I was forced to write a post on my childhood dog, Worthless. I hope you enjoy it.

It was a great story. My person keeps me in tight control – always on a leash – or I might be just like Worthless.

That is the biggest raccoon I have ever seen. And where was his tail? I think you have a whole different species of raccoon on your trail than we do here.

Patricia, you mean there’s more kinds of raccoons? This is the only one I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to meet the other kind.

He looks like a very large raccoon I might have been cautious at first. But since He is so friendly you can just enjoy his company. It’s great that he made friends with you Bongo:)

Lexie and Mica, my person says he was very big as far as raccoons go. But he definitely was friendly.

Misaki, that raccoon was a great friend. My person said he probably doesn’t live around here though. I wish we had some raccoons that lived closer.
