Walking with Bunnies

21 Jan

Two Bunnies on leashesWait a minute! Wait just a minute! This is a dog blog. What are those bunnies doing on my blog?

***

My person left me for a long time today. And when she got home I smelled something on her.

It smelled kinda, sorta, a little bit familiar. Then I realized why.

It smelled like those wild bunnies that I chase sometimes on my trails. Or at least I try to chase. It’s kind of hard when you’ve got a person attached to your leash.

But even though the smell was like my trail bunnies, it wasn’t quite the same.

So my person had to admit it. She’d been petting bunnies. Bunnies on leashes!

She even had pictures to prove it.

Two bunnies on leashes

This got me really worried. What if my person decided she’d rather take one of those bunnies on a walk instead of me? What if she left me home and took a bunny?

My person said those bunnies were softer than me. And she said they had a job working as therapy bunnies in a nursing home.

And my person said those bunnies didn’t get into mischief like me.

That settles it! Who would want a pet that didn’t get into mischief? How boring would that be?

I was still a bit worried though that I might be ousted; until my person said she got me something to make up for petting those bunnies.

Different shaped dog cookies

Cookies!

And they look like cars, and bones, and cats, and pesky squirrels.

I already ate the pesky squirrel.

Hey Scratchy, I’m going to eat the cat next.

Do they have any cookies that look like bunnies?

Bunnies on leashes are CUTE! Not cuter than us, though, B. That would be impossible!! Sometimes a therapy bunny works with me at Therapet. Also a cat named Cuddles, in a stroller! Still NOT as cute as us.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, nobody could be as cute as us.

Be careful around those bunnies, you never know. They may seem harmless now. What if they have hidden fangs we cannot see or some kind of evil trickery device we dont know about.
Bunnies can be dangerous…I dont trust those two bunnies….Look how they look at you….very suspicious….Just be careful….Woof Woof!

Alex and Penny, I heard that there’s a very dangerous bunny in Monty Python. I’d better warn my person to stay away from those creatures.

It’s exactly as you said it Bongo, who’d want a pet who wouldn’t get into mischief?! Besides that, [and more important] you are one and [irreplaceably] only!
Would be fun to be around those bunnies though…
    🙂

Thanks Marina. I bet I could teach those bunnies a little bit about mischief – unless they’re slow learners, that is.

OMD! Those bunnies on leash are very cute and interesting! We’ve never seen bunnies on leash here. But Bongo, you’re much cuter than they are! And I think one of your charms is you’re always mischievous!!! 🙂

Kevin, we’ve never seen bunnies on a leash before either. My person says she’s known people who have bunnies for pets but they usually didn’t take them for walks. I wonder what kind of adventures those bunnies could blog about. Not as good as mine, I’m sure.

Not to worry, Bongo; you will never be ousted. I have faith in your person. What a sweet idea, though: therapy bunnies.

Thanks Roberta. My person promised she will never give me up for a bunny. I made her promise. She won’t let me be a therapy dog though. She says I get too hyper when I see new people and I might wear them out trying to get them to toss balls for me to catch.

    Haha Bongo,

I have to confess I like the look of those cookies too buddy!! Remember when I HAD to eat the mailman and the Cat cookies? The guilt goes really fast! 🙂

And don’t worry, your Mom could never replace you, she’d so miss the mischief, she just doesn’t realize it yet!!

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Snoopy, I think you’re right. My person would be totally bored if it wasn’t for me and my mischief.

Misaki, I thought so too but my person says those bunnies were having a good time.

Benny & Lily, they are really cute – as long as they don’t come to my house and take over that is.

I’ve never met bunnies on leash, but I’ve seen ferrets on leash. They are cute pets, too (at least, according to some opinions…). And I’ve already seen cats walking behind their mom and dad – without a leash! In the case of oncoming passangers, they made a little roundabout in the gardens of the neighbouring houses.

Kolytyi, I’ve seen cats walking behind their people too. I always want to give them what for but my person won’t let me.

Huh… they don’t get into trouble? Diane had a bunny long before me & I can still see the chew marks all over my porch!

Lola, I guess those bunnies don’t get into trouble when they chew on the tree they were hanging out under. Maybe I’d better investigate further though. Those bunnies may be more mischievous than I thought.

Dianda, my person thinks they’re really cute too. I just wonder how fast they’d run.

Remy, the cookies were great. I’d send my person away more often if she’d bring me cookies every time. But I sure hope she doesn’t bring back any of those bunnies.

When I wrote my thesis for my Bachelor’s my topic was Pet Assisted Therapy. Bongo, you’re such an even tempered dog you could join the bunnies and help even more people smile.

      January 22, 2013 at 6:04 pm

Sandra, my person says I’m not very even tempered when there’s new people to play with. I would wear them out making them play catch with me. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Our bunnies are outside and hop away by themselves what is the point of walking bunnies anyway! You should be safe and enjoy your treats:-)

Lexie and Mica, I’m not sure about that walking bunny thing either – but these bunnies don’t look the same as the bunnies that live outside my house.

Collies and Chuck, those cookies are really cool. I found out there were even more kinds. Yesterday I ate a shoe and the day before I ate the couch.

Bongo, the bunnies are so sweet…I think just like the cookies. Did your person baked them?

    • Bongo

      January 28, 2013 at 4:23 pm

Angels Whisper, my person found those cookies when she was shopping. She didn’t bake the bunnies either. She wouldn’t even bring the bunnies home with her for me to chase play with.
