Calm the Storm

19 May

Jesus calming the stormOne day when Jesus was waiting for all the seeds to grow into good food…

I know that’s not how the story goes, but don’t you agree it’s better if there’s food in the story?

Okay, I’ll listen to the right story.

***

One day when Jesus had a crowd around Him He said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.”

So they got into a boat and set out.

***

I hope they brought their fishing nets.

I am listening.

***

While they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep.

Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake and the waves swept over the boat.

***

Hold on to those fishing nets, disciples!

***

The disciples woke Jesus up and said to Him, “Don’t you care if we drown?”

Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”

The wind died down and it was completely calm.

***

Time for fishing now.

Yes, I’ll listen.

***

Jesus said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?

The disciples were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey Him!”

***

The fish obey Jesus too. Maybe he could have a few jump into the boat.

Hey guys, wait for me! I don’t want to miss any of those fish!

Marina, I think it’s because I hardly ever get fish around here. Maybe I should get my person to move somewhere where there’s more water.

Woohooo!!! Jesus did a miracle again! I was very much worried if those people might be take away by the crazy storm and the waves because Jesus was sleeping….but he was just there! I’m glad he saved people from the waves! 🙂

Kevin, Jesus is pretty awesome in what He can do. The amazing thing is that His disciples who hung out with Him didn’t know what to make of it. They still didn’t know who Jesus was – and is.

Bongo, wait till Jesus is hanging out on the beach and cooks the fish. They’re much better that way.

Sueann, my person did a Google Image search for Jesus calming the storm. Usually she uses one of the suggested media files that WordPress brings up for my Bible stories because she knows they are copyright free, but nothing appropriate showed up this time.

Wow! This Jesus is a pretty powerful guy! I want him on my side. However, I think the story would have been more interesting with the boat getting crushed and sinking and sharks eating the disciples….. wait… dad is taking the computer away… wait…

Ginger, tell your dad not to worry. Jesus would have fixed the boat and raised the disciples from the dead.
