I don’t get it! I just don’t get it.
People are so strange sometimes.
One of the best things on my walks are the great smells I find. I look forward to checking my messages and finding out what my dog buddies are up to.
But my person is so impatient. She’s always yanking on my leash and making me leave a great smell before I’ve finished with it.
I don’t know how many times she’s done that.
It’s so frustrating!
But I put up with it because I’m such a good dog. If my person wants to walk instead of sniff stuff, I can go along with it – as long as I at least get a little sniffing in.
But here’s the funny part.
We walked past this bush.
It didn’t have any kind of special smells on it – no messages from my friends or anything.
So I walked on by.
And you know what happened?
My person stopped and she wanted to smell this thing.
She’s never stopped to smell anything ever before.
Why now? Why these flowers?
I’m going to have to give my person some lessons in what to smell.
I think she’s really confused.
And if she doesn’t get it…
I might have to yank on the leash and pull her down the trail.

Bongo, humans don’t have sensitive noses. We only smell the really strong stuff. You’ll have to just understand this and let her stop when she can actually smell something. Sometimes we sacrifice for those we love.

FleaByte, I’m just not sure what my person was smelling. She says it smelled good, but I couldn’t smell anything good. I don’t get it.

Moms have no patience for our smells, B. My mom says the word, “Let’s go.” a million times on our walks. Those flowers must’ve been pretty special to get your person sniffing!
Love and licks,

Cupcake, my person says it’s the best smell she’s found on my trails but I couldn’t smell anything good at all.

They are just jealous they can’t bend down and smell

Benny & Lily, that’s got to be it. I wish my person would get down and smell. I like knocking her over.

Ah, she doesn’t get it, does she?!!! They do look nice though… you’re sure they don’t smell good?!!
June 7, 2013 at 6:17 pm
Marina, my person says they smell really good, but I couldn’t smell anything good at all.
June 7, 2013 at 5:28 pm
Maybe your person is jealous because she can’t leave messages on the trail like you can.
June 7, 2013 at 6:17 pm
Patricia, that’s got to be it. She probably only pretended she liked that smell.

Misty Shores, my person says they smell really good. I don’t get it.

My mom, too…she always yanks on my leash whenever I sniff messages, besides if I lick them, she shout at me!!!
Those flowers are so pretty and intersting especially if we look at them closely.
I’ve never seen them here. I’m wodering what types of smell the flower is!!!

Kevin, my person says they smell like a really sweet perfume. I guess I don’t like the smell of perfume. She found a picture of them online and found out the name of the flower is brownfoot. She says it doesn’t seem like the name fits the smell, but it has to do with the old leaves that turn brown and the new plant coming up from the foot of them or something.

Wow! Very interesting flowers! Thank you very much for the information of the flowers, Bongo and your person! 🙂

Who nose Bongo – humans are a mystery 🙂
June 8, 2013 at 11:01 pm
Bassa, maybe I need to get my Detective Dog hat on to solve the human mystery.
June 9, 2013 at 1:01 am
Maybe your person wants to be shore that there wasn’t any message left for you Bongo 🙂
June 10, 2013 at 9:58 pm
Little Binky, I guess the tops of those flowers are kind of high for me – but wait a minute, if they’re that high then none of my friends can leave messages there.
June 9, 2013 at 1:21 pm
Maybe one of her friends marked it for her?
June 10, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Lola, that would be a sight to see.
June 10, 2013 at 10:49 am
Oh Bongo, you should not forget that humans have strongly reduced senses. Your person might have been able to notice the smell of those nice little flowers because she also got some visual aid (namely, their beauty) from them.
June 10, 2013 at 10:11 pm
Kolytyi, people are so unlucky that they have trouble smelling all the great things on my trails. I’m not sure about those flowers though.
June 10, 2013 at 10:10 pm
We know Bongo we are always stopping to smell for animals and other dog scents but Mom always wants to smell things like the flower??
June 10, 2013 at 10:18 pm
Lexie and Mica, I just can’t figure out people. What is it about flowers that they like to smell?
June 11, 2013 at 5:07 pm
Ginger says before you yank run around her a couple of times then yank… muwahahahaha er.. here comes the old guy he is not happy so I am pushing post comment now! heheheh
June 11, 2013 at 9:35 pm
Ginger, I’ll pretend I didn’t get that comment so you don’t get into trouble with your dad. But I’m running around my person now.
