Flames on My Trails

24 Dec

Manzanita bush with sunlight shining through loose barkThis is terrible!

Someone is trying to burn down my trails.

I walked around a corner and found this Manzanita bush on fire.

What am I going to do?

My puddle is a long ways away and there’s no other water around to put this fire out with.

I couldn’t bear it if my trails burned down.

How would I have any adventures if there was nothing left but black char?

Maybe if I blow on it hard enough and kick up enough dirt the fire will go out.

Oh no! There’s more fire here.

I’ll never be able to get it all out in time.

Run for it!

Call 911!

Do you think they have a fire truck that’s skinny enough to drive down my trails?

Hey, wait a minute.

These bushes are on fire but they’re not burning up.

This is kind of like the burning bush that Moses saw.

Maybe God lit this fire to remind us of Christmas.

You know, Jesus being born and all that?

I’m not sure about God’s color choice though.

Shouldn’t these bushes be burning in red and green?

I guess you never know about God. He seems to have a mind of His own.

Hey person, I think we’re doing it all wrong.

You’ve got to take down all those red and green lights on our house and put up orange ones.

you are always finding strange things on your trail. I can never imagine what you will find next….but if you find God then you are certainly in the right direction

Patrecia, my person says God is always watching me on my trails – and that He knows when I get into mischief. Gulp! Merry Christmas!

Fredrieka, it’s funny this seems like it should be a summer thing but it actually happens in the winter. The sun has to be at just the right angle.

Great idea! The trees here that change and lose leaves are choosing to do it now – mainly gold – but maybe the same message. Thanks Bongo and Merry Christmas to all!

Karen, I think God sends his message in all kinds of ways. Merry Christmas to you, Molly, the German, and RC. Do I have to, person? Oh, alright. Merry Christmas to RC Cat too.

Cupcake, every time I think I have God all figured out He does something unexpected. Merry Christmas to you and your mom.

God does have a mind of His own and we will never fully understand it. Merry Christmas, Bongo…and your person, too.

Intriguing little lights aren’t they? I wonder what would happen if you actually did decorate your Christmas tree with them… 🙂

Marina, those lights are solar powered. I think they might fizzle out on my tree.

Kevin, that orange color kind of is the sun. It only lights up like that when the sun shines through at just the right angle, and that right angle only comes in the winter.

We wonder if that is the bush that they call “The Burning Bush”. If it is that really cool!

That bush is a manzanita bush. I wonder if they have them over on the Sinai Peninsula.
