Leaf Dropping

15 Feb

Manzanita bush with leaves on the groundWhat’s this?

This is the wrong time of the year.

And those leaves are the wrong color to be on the ground.

As a matter of fact, Manzanita leaves don’t fall to the ground.

They stay on the bushes all year.

And since this is the only place on my whole trails with a pile of leaves like this, I know there’s some culprit somewhere who is guilty of leaf dropping.

.

And it’s up to me to find out who it is.

Bongo sniffing the manzanita bush

I’m sure that leaf dropper left some evidence somewhere around this bush.

Hmmm. It’s hard to sort out the messages.

I’d better work on it though.

After all it is one of my favorite things to do.

Bongo sniffing under the manzanita bush

I bet there’s something under here.

It’s closer to the grounded leaves.

I’m sure there’s something under here that will give me a hint as to who the culprit is.

Bongo sniffing the bush with his feet near the fallen leaves

Nothing. Nada. I’m not having any luck.

I’m not finding any clues anywhere.

There’s only one thing I can tell for sure.

Those leaves have fallen and they can’t get up.

Those are quite a lot of leaves down there Bongo! I’m as curious as you. Do manzanitas have a strong smell? Maybe that’s why you aren’t picking up any clues. Happy Saturday!

FireBonnet, manzanitas don’t have much smell at all – but too many of my friends left messages and I have to sort through them.

Maybe you should leave a pee mail message and see if anybody can help figure this out.

Poor leaves… I hope they don’t feel lonely! Have you tried asking them?! 🙂

Marina, I hadn’t thought of that. I bet those leaves could tell me exactly what happened.

Kevin, those leaves must really be crying loud if you can hear them all the way in Japan. I’m for sure going to give the culprit what for.

Perhaps too many messages got left on it and the leaves fell off from the repeated exchange of messages… but I would have to sniff too and leave a message to find out…. -Ginger 🙂

Ginger, I think you’re safe leaving a message – since I can’t find any clues anyway. If there were too many messages left on these leaves then the manzanita bushes on the busier trails would all be naked.

Bongo, I’m sure you’ll get to the bottom of the mystery. Maybe you can go back to the bush and do some more investigatin’.

Diane and Lola, I might have to go to the rescue and put all those leaves back on the bush.
