One Little Escape

16 Apr

Bongo in dog jail looking sadA few nights ago I was hanging out in the backyard and I didn’t want to come back inside.

I’ve never escaped at night before, so I convinced my person to let me stay in the yard.

What I didn’t tell her was that the meter person hadn’t latched one of the gates – the one you can’t see unless you walk over to it because it’s hiding behind the shed.

So I was hanging out in the yard and I decided to expand my boundaries, and I left.

It wasn’t really escaping – the gate was open.

And I didn’t go very far. My person got in her car and found me a little ways down the street.

She could have walked to where I was.

But then my person did something really bad.

A couple nights ago she locked me in dog jail and escaped from the house without me.

I could hear her out there.

And here’s what’s really bad.

She was hanging out with my neighbor dog Toby and another neighbor dog that I haven’t met yet.

And a whole bunch of my neighbors.

I don’t know why she didn’t take me.

Do I have to pay forever for one little jaunt down the street?

She could have at least brought some treats back for me.

But all she brought were a bunch of pictures of the moon.

I don’t get it.

What’s such a big deal about the moon?

Woo woo Ku! I wonder if I have to add color to my song when it’s a blood moon.

Ah, she knew what she was doing, Bongo. She wanted to protect you from the Blood Moon!
Bongo’s person: wow! beautiful shots! 🙂

Marina, my person says thanks. But now you’ve got me worried. Do Blood Moons attack dogs?

Well, I’ve heard stories, so better be safe than sorry! 🙂

Bongo maybe she was afraid you’d howl at that moon and scare the bush out of it?
Can’t blame you for a little jaunt – all the dogs around here have been just overly excited from all the wind and unusually cold weather….All the local dogs are discussing a protest until you are release and restored to the yard

Karen, it’s so cool to know that the dogs where you live are on my side. I think I’d better take another jaunt down the street to get support from my neighbor dogs.

Nicely exposed moon shots! I usually have a hard time taking pics of the moon.
    Thanks for sharing.. 🙂

Thanks Jackie. My person did a lot of experimenting with the camera settings. Not all of her pics turned out this good. But now she knows what works.

Maybe other comments are right, person was protecting you from the red moon. Personally I think she shut you in because you were naughty and went out of the gate…no excuses about gate being unlatched…you should know better. But I still love you loads and loads

Patrecia, that gate was talking to me and saying, “Come through, come through.” How could I ignore that?

Lily & Edward, my person made some excuse about me maybe knocking over her tripod or something.

Those moon pictures are ridiculous. Wow! It was all cloudy here, so we couldn’t see a thing. I hope you get out of jail soon, B. But you’re scaring us with all your naughty running. Do NOT expand your horizons anymore! Mom’s heart can’t take it.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, I always come back home. Mostly I don’t get the chance to explore the neighborhood much on my own anymore because my person has learned my tricks. I just got lucky with that gate.

Sweet Bongo we were thinking of suggesting that you put your person in the dog jail for a time…but when we saw those fantastic shots of the moon we changed our mind. We would not want you to do that and punish her for taking those amazing moon pictures. Maybe the next time she goes out she will let you go along with her. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, my person says thanks. She says the next blood moon won’t happen for a few months. I’ll have to figure out when so I can lock her in dog jail before it happens.

So sorry Bongo 😦 I don’t know why she left you in doggy jail either. Our mom has padlocks on the gates so that people can’t leave them open unless mom wants them open.

Marty, my person had a padlock on that gate for a long time and the meter people must have used the other gate (which is easy to see if that one’s left open) but the meter people sent her a letter and complained. She says now they put in a meter that they don’t have to come by and read. I guess I lost my chance for the gate to be left open again.

Thank goodness. If that happened at our house, we live on a VERY busy road and mom’s fear is one of us would get hurt!

Fortunately our road is not very busy, and it ends in a T right past our house so no one can drive very fast.

You know you should escape at night pal – it’s a bit dark!!

Dalton, I realized that after I got out on the street. And there wasn’t anyone outside to play with either.

Fredrieka, my person says thanks. I guess we have an advantage living in Arizona. Most of the time we can see the night skies.

I think that your person is amazing! The moon looks so beautiful! I’m wondering if she took the pictures with a special camera or the one she always takes a picture?

      April 17, 2014 at 10:40 am

Kevin, most of the time on my trails my person uses her little point and shoot camera so that’s whats on my blog usually. She says she’s afraid I’ll yank on my leash going after something and pull her over and destroy her good camera if she takes it. When she locks me in dog jail she takes her SLR camera. That’s what she used for the moon pictures.

Oh Bongo. I actually envy your person for having great weather to see the eclipse. It’s been rainy and gloomy in my part of the globe.

As for jaunting out at night, try to ask permission next time. Asking for a curfew might help. 😉

Nel, I guess we have an advantage living in Arizona. We usually get to see eclipses when they come around. Of course if it was cloudy and rainy my person would have stayed inside.

Don’t worry Bongo, your Mum was only trying to keep you safe by putting you in jail. Stick to the garden in future and don’t scare your poor mum

Fluffy Tufts, sometimes I think my person is trying to keep the house and the cat food safe when she puts me in dog jail.
