Downed Nest

18 Oct

Bird nest on the groundSome bird dropped her nest right in my yard and flew the coop.

Or maybe the baby birds were ready to go and they tossed out their nest when they left.

So which is it?

I’ve got to go find them and ask them.

.

.

.

But I’ve got a dilemma.

Bongo looking away and a nest on the ground

Did they fly that way?

Bongo looking the opposite direction

Or did they fly over there?

Little Binky, I might need your help if they flew up in a tree.

Patrecia, I think that was way before my time – but my person remembers it.

A little bird has lost its home
it flew off and went to Rome
it went to see Acropolis but he was not there
he looked in all the treetops but where? But where?
so it turned due south to visit another bird
and since then, I, m afraid I have not heard
About the poor wee bird who left his home
and dropped his nest in Bongo, s garden
    And left it all alone…ahhhhh

Patrecia, thanks for the awesome poem. Maybe Acropolis will show up and find that bird.

At least the babies are gone. It would’ve been sad if the birds went down. Yikes.

That’s true Cupcake. Sometimes I find broken eggs in my yard because a bigger bird raided a nest – but not this time.

Fredrieka, you’re right. Those birds should have left me some treats for using my yard. I’d better find them for sure.

Kevin, me too. My person says sometimes heavy winds blow nests out of trees. But this time of year the babies were probably not babies any more.

I bet it was blown down by the wind, like you said. The babies are all growed up by now, and probably left.

Those babies must have flown the coop. Otherwise they’d be hopping all around my yard.
