My Gift to You

BongoWhat are you talking about, person? I haven’t gotten any awards lately?

You didn’t. You lost a bunch of old awards in the computer again?

What do you mean, you knew where they were all along? Why didn’t you give them to me then?

You were too busy playing secretary to me? I don’t keep you that busy, do I? I only make you write one post a day. What do you do with the rest of your time?

So where are my awards? What did I get?

Oh, this one is from one of my special friends. Angels Whisper and Little Binky comment on my blog almost every day. I’m not usually too much on cats, but Little Binky is pretty cool. And they gave me the Thinking of You Award.

Thinking of You Award

Wait a minute. What’s this next award? I’m addicted to lots of things – like treats, and loves, and walks on my trails. But these friends said that my blog is addictive? Look at this. I got the Addictive Blog Award from Misaki, Angels Whisper and Little Binky, Cupcake, Dianda at CatsnCo, Dogdaz, Kat n Collies, Bumpy Road to Bubba, and Collies of the Meadow.

The Addictive Blog Award

Those collies are really cool because I also got the One Lovely Blog Award from both Kat n Collies and Collies of the Meadow.

One Lovely Blog Award

Then Angels Whisper and Little Binky and Collies of the Meadow also gave me the Wonderful Team Readership Award. I think they’re the ones on the team because they’re always so good about coming over and leaving me comments.

Wonderful Team Readership Award

This next award makes me drool, and it was given to me by several of my Super Sweet friends; Misaki, Remy at One Blue Dog, Echo and Link at Husky’s Life, and Angels Whisper and Little Binky.

Super Sweet Award

I’m still licking my lips from that award.

I got one final award from my friends Angels Whisper and Little Binky. The Blog of the Year 2012 Award. You can get up to six stars on this award if you’re awarded it multiple times. So far I have one.

Blog of the Year Award

I know I’m supposed to answer some questions for some of these awards and pass them on. But since it’s Christmas I’m going to do something different. I’ve got a present to give to all of my friends who have given me awards. Wait just a minute. I’ll open if for you.

Award Hoard

Bongo SittingI can’t believe it, person. You mean to tell me you’ve been hoarding all my awards since March. What will all my friends think who gave me those awards? They probably think I forgot about them. And now everybody will think I’m this famous, awesome blogger because I get so many awards, but most of my friends probably got lots of awards too. They just posted them more often. On second thought, I kind of like that famous, awesome blogger thing. Never mind, everybody. Just pretend I got all of these awards last week.

First, I want to give a delayed – in some cases very delayed – thank you to all my friends who took the time to give me awards. All of them have great blogs, so if some of them are new to you I hope you will click on their link and check them out.

Tell Me About Yourself AwardLazy Hippie Mama gave me the Tell Me About Yourself Award so I guess I have to tell seven things about myself.

.

.

.

  1. For some reason my person won’t leave me in the yard alone. I’m not sure why. I don’t jump the fence every time.
  2. I love to get loves from cute girls.
  3. I love to catch Frisbees, balls, and anything else someone will toss my way.
  4. I’m terribly afraid of thunder.
  5. I was a rescue dog. My people adopted me from the Humane Society of Sedona and gave me my forever home.
  6. If I could be anywhere in the world it would be on my trails.
  7. I have two girlfriends, but I haven’t seen either one of them for a long time.

I was also tagged by Bubba, my dog friends Bella and Beary, and their mama at Bumpy Road to Bubba, and by my friend Cee at Cee’s Life Photography Blog. I’m supposed to answer some questions and since Cee made up a set of questions I thought I’d answer those.

1.    Where do you want to retire?

My trails in Sedona are the best place I can think of.

2.    Which country/city in the world (that you have never been to) would you most like to visit and why?

I want to visit Chandler, AZ because my younger person just moved there.

3.    If you could give $100,000 dollars to one charity, what would it be?

A charity that helps rescue dogs.

4.    What is your favorite item of clothing and why?

That would have to be my Anxiety Vest that helps calm me during thunder storms. I’m wearing it               right now.

5.    Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

My person has never taken me to a hotel room – but I would for sure take any dog treats.

6.    What made you smile today?

Dog treats and a walk on my trails.

7.    For your computer Mac or PC?

I’m confused, but my person says she uses a PC to type up my blog.

8.   Do you plan out things usually or do you do them more spontaneous (for example if you are visiting a big city you don’t know?)

       I’m totally spontaneous.

9.    What is your favorite comfort food?

       Dog treats.

10.  Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?

       Elevator?

11.   What chore do you absolutely hate doing and you can’t say clean the bathroom or any part of it?

Having to do my business when it’s thundering.

I am so worn out now. This is probably the longest blog post I’ve ever written and I don’t even begin to know how to sort out who to pass all these awards on to. I have too many good blogging friends and bunches of them have already been mentioned as they passed these awards on to me. So if you have managed to read this post all the way to the end and you haven’t yet received one of these awards, please consider it yours. I’m going to take a nap.

Frozen Tag, Anyone?

Staying in the YardHey person, there’s this game going around with my blogging friends called tagging, and I think I’m it. I’m supposed to answer some questions and then tag more blogging friends – but I think they’ve all been tagged already. I think that’s kind of like frozen tag. I’ve been tagged and I can’t move.

Person, I’m holding all these questions and I don’t know what to do with them. And now I’m getting cold because I’m frozen. I should do what? Answer the questions? I guess I could do that.

Misty Shores Chesapeakes, Bones Diary, Laurie Bartolo, and Collies of the Meadow all tagged me with these questions:

1.       Describe yourself in 7 words.

Fun loving (oops, that’s two words), playful, escape artist (did it again) energetic, inquisitive, jumper, slobbery

2.       What keeps you up at night?

Nothing – except thunder

3.       Who would you like to be?

I’m happy being me

4.       What are you wearing right now?

My collar – and a lot of hair that will be all over the carpet soon

5.       What scares you?

Thunder – I’m deathly afraid of thunder

6.       The best and worst of blogging.

The best is all the blogging buddies I’ve made – The worst is my person is on the computer when she should be taking me for a walk or feeding me.

7.       The last website I visited.

The ones that tagged me so I could make sure I had all the info right.

8.       What is one thing I would change about myself.

I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m perfect the way I am.

9.       Slankets yes or no.

I didn’t know what a slanket was until my friend Laurie googled it and found out it’s a blanket with sleeves. I’ll just take my bed, or a cozy spot on the carpet.

10.   Tell us something about the dog that tagged you.

Cheyenne, Riva, Maia, and Titan are four amazing Chesapeake Bay Retrievers on Misty Shores Chesapeakes. They are beautiful and fun loving brown dogs and I guess I can’t fault them for living with some cats too.

Bones is a border terrier who has all kinds of fun and loves to get into mischief. He lives with his brothers Alfie and Jess and loves to give them a bad time. He recently had his first birthday and is afraid of losing his puppyness, but those of us who know him know that won’t happen anytime soon.

Laurie Bartolo loves to take photographs of dogs and she travels around her neighborhood looking for dogs willing to model for her. If you haven’t seen her photography you’ve got to check it out. It’s really great.

You’ve never seen so many romping collies as you’ll see at Collies of the Meadow. Chuck shares the lives and love of his many collies – both present and past. It’s amazing to see the different personalities they all have.

Hey person, aren’t you forgetting something? Yeah person, I got some awards too.

I want to say a big thank you to all my blogging friends who honored me with awards.

ABC Award

Sandra Branum and Laurie Bartolo awarded me the ABC Award. Sandra has a lot of fun poetry on her blog and personal stories as well. Laurie has awesome dog photography.

One Lovely Blog Award

One Lovely Blog Award was given to me by Collies of the Meadow, Dianda with Catsnco, and Tylersat99. Catsnco has everything cat. Please don’t tell anyone I read a cat blog. The truth is Scratchy steals the computer and reads it. Mica and Lexie are the two dogs at Tylersat99. They are both Newfoundlands and they have trails almost as good as mine – maybe even better because they have a swimming hole on theirs. The collies are fun loving and have totally overtaken their house, but their dad wouldn’t have it any other way.

HUG Award

Misty Shores Chesapeakes and Bumpy Road to Bubba honored me with the HUG Award. Bumpy Road to Bubba is a beautiful blog about Mumma and her Bubba who recently had her first birthday. They also share their home with Bella and Beary, two beautiful dogs. Misty Shores Chesapeakes has wonderful photos and adventures of a bunch of beautiful, brown Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

The Liebster Blog Award was awarded to me by Manipal’s Photo Blog. This is a fairly new blog that has some really wonderful photography. Please stop by and check this blog out.

I was also tagged by two other blogging friends – not dogs – and they gave me totally different questions so I’ll post those later. This post is getting long enough.

Hey person, you’re forgetting something else. You know, my blog roll?

No person, I don’t understand busy. Hurry up and get my friend’s links on my blog. At least you finally gave me my Facebook page. That took weeks. I hope nobody holds their breath because they might turn blue, but I’ll keep after my person to put up my blogroll.

Clean Out the Computer

Bongo SittingCome on person. Would you get them out of there? You’re not going to have any room left in your computer for my blog posts. Person, you’re starting to act like a hoarder. Come on, you can get them out. One at a time if you have to.

Person, why are you crying. I see tears coming out of your eyes. You didn’t lose them, did you? Those things you call files. Did you forget where you put the one they’re in? Maybe it’s under the bed.

You what? You’re crying because you’re touched? Person, I think you’re touched in the head. Come on. I know you know where they are.

Is that what it is? You do know where they are? You’re crying because so many of my blogging friends – who have really good blogs themselves, have given me awards?

Did you put my blog roll up yet to recognize all my great blogging friends? Well, get unbusy person. And where’s my Facebook page you promised me?

Okay, I can do that.

My person asked me if I would honor all of the great blogs who nominated me for these awards. I know I’m supposed to pass some of these forward, and I’m trying to get my person to unbusy herself and put up a blogroll for me since I have so many good blogging friends I can’t pick anymore.

So here goes.

ABC Award

A couple weeks ago I received the Awesome Blogger Award from Lilly the Cat. Lilly’s blog has some awesome cat cartoons drawn by Urooj Grundmann. Even if you’re a dog I think you’ll like these cat cartoons. They’re lots of fun.

One Lovely Blog Award

Three of my blogging friends have awarded me the One Lovely Blog Award. I’m not sure how lovely I am but I have a lot of fun on my blog.

I received this award from Sunshine at Simply Charming. She sometimes has some great poetry and photos on her blog, but my person says she especially likes Sunshine’s personal stories. Recently she wrote about her adopted daughter and my person had those tears in her eyes again.

I also received this award from Cee at Cee’s Life Photography. Cee has some wonderful photography on her site, much of it from Oregon where she lives. My person says she has an affinity for Oregon because her brother lives there and she grew up in the neighboring state of Washington. Cee has also written some very touching, very personal stories that have been incredible to read and can give hope to people who have been through or are going through something similar.

2 Brown Dawgs also nominated me for this award – but they are really 3 brown dawgs now with the addition of their super cute puppy Freighter who recently joined Thunder and Storm. These dogs are all Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. The blog has wonderful photographs of the dogs at home, training, and hunting. My person and I have learned a lot about what hunting dogs do and it has been quite an education. They really work hard.

Creative Capture Award

The Creative Capture Award came from Just Ramblin’ Pier. This was a real surprise as it was awarded for the photos I share on my blog and came from an awesome photographer. I love all the photos on this blog, but especially the ones of Stella the Newfoundland.

Versatile Blogger Award

My friend Vanilla Bean from the Philippines nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Vanilla Bean is one of the cutest dogs I know, but not only do you get to see all the great photos, you hear about all of Vanilla Bean’s adventures. Right now Vanilla Bean is overseeing a whole lot of puppies that were born into the household.

HUG Award

My friend Sunshine at Simply Charming also nominated me for this last award. This award is especially meaningful to me my person because it means that maybe I am touching people’s lives in a meaningful way through my blog. And all I thought I was doing was having fun.

If you’d like to know more about what the HUG Award is you can find the info at A Hope for Today.

I hope everybody will click on at least one of these links and make a new blogging friend today.

Person, I don’t think anyone’s going to read down this far.

Where Are They?

Hey person. Can you help me look for something? I can’t seem to find them anywhere. I’ve been looking all over and I don’t know where they are.

Bongo Searching Under the Table

It’s been awfully windy lately. I’m thinking maybe the wind blew them away.

***

Or maybe those bluebirds took them. You know, the ones that invaded my puddle.

Bluebirds in a Puddle

That one in the tree looked like he was ready to swoop down and take whatever he wanted.

Bluebird

Oh here they are! They were here all along. You had them stashed on your computer, person. I think you were hiding them from me. My new awards!

In the past few days I’ve been nominated for three new awards.

Two Versatile Blogger Awards

Versatile Blogger Award

and a Liebster Blog Award

The Versatile Blogger awards came from:

For the Love of My Dogs at http://loveofmydogs.com. Harley, Scarlet, Chelsea and a cat named Roory are featured on this blog. You can find useful information about and for dogs here and then there’s my favorite part – recipes for nutritious and yummy dog treats.

Dogdaz at http://dogdaz.wordpress.com. Dogdaz is a fairly new blog and definitely worth visiting. Louise, Sofie Bear, and the cats are featured on this blog. In addition to the stories there is some extremely creative pet photography.

The Liebster Blog came from Jimmie Chew at http://jimmiechew.wordpress.com/. If you haven’t stopped by Jimmie Chew’s blog you definitely need to do it. You have to be a very special cat for me to say anything good (being that I’m a dog and all) but Jimmie Chew makes the grade. He’s studying to be a model and there are lots of photos of him on his blog. Words won’t do him justice. You’ve just got to see for yourself.

I think my person hid these awards from me because she was afraid they would go to my head. She says that since I’ve received these awards in the past, and I have so many great blogging friends, many who have already received these awards as well, I should follow in the footsteps of my friend Sweet Kitten at http://cosytravels.wordpress.com and put up a blog roll instead of passing these awards on again.

My person says it might take her awhile to get the blog roll together though. She promised me a Facebook page when I got 100 Followers, and she owes me.

Rejected or Accepted?

Bongo on the Squishy Mud TrailI’m so disappointed. My snow is going away. But that’s not all bad because now there is lots and lots of squishy mud on my trails.

I met a dog on the trails today who wanted to play with me, but every time he got too close he would change his mind and run off the other way.

Rejection!!!

But then I remembered that one of my blogging friends that I recently met gave me an award. The Kreativ Blogger Award. The friend who gave me this award is Patrecia aka misswhiplash. She lives in Bulgaria and has five dogs, two donkeys, and a cat with three legs. Her posts are a lot of fun to read and you can find them at http://misswhiplash.wordpress.com.

I’ve never seen this award before which means I can pass it on to some of my bestist favoritist blogging friends (that I haven’t already passed an award to) and maybe this will be the first time they receive it. I know there are still lots of other blogs I love – I wish I could pick all of you.

But first I’m supposed to tell you 10 things about myself that you wouldn’t know. This is really hard. I tell you everything – well, almost everything. So I’ll tell you 10 things that some of my newer friends might not know.

1                     My people rescued me from the Sedona Humane Society about six years ago.

2                     I pretend I don’t like Scratchy (the cat) but I really do. (Don’t pass this on.)

3                     I’m deathly afraid of thunder.

4                     I don’t like olives.

5                     I get really upset when Scratchy steals my blog.

6                     I love squeaky toys.

7                     I get to stay inside most of the time because I’m an escape dog.

8                     I love kids who stand about my height – but most of them say I’m a slobbery dog.

9                     Catching Frisbees is one of my favorite things to do – and I’m really good at it.

10                 I really enjoy getting to meet so many dogs and people because of my blog.

Now I get to pass on this award to six of my blogging friends. I’m picking dogs again, so if you’re a blogging person I still love you, but I seem to have this affinity for other dog’s blogs. Maybe it has something to do with…?

I think Bassa was the first dog to find me when I started blogging, which was a real encouragement to me. She has been one of my favorite dog blogging friends ever since. She is a Caucasian Shepherd dog who lives in Tbilisi, Georgia (the country – not the state). Bassa and her tall person take walks through and report on their neighborhood, which is very different from the neighborhood where I live. Bassa’s blog is at http://bassasblog.wordpress.com/.

Rumpy also found me very soon after I started blogging. Rumpy is a malamute with some very fascinating blog posts including interviews with some interesting animals from all over the world. Rumpy even interviewed me. Rumpy sometimes allows DeDe the dog to give advice on the blog and June Buggie the cat to get on the blog and rant. You can find Rumpy at http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/.

I found Lola when her person let her be a guest blogger. She was blogging about hiking in my home town. Lola knows where to hike for sure. Last month Lola got to be a guest blogger quite often because her person was busy writing for NaNoWriMo (where you have to write a 50,000 word novel all in the month of November). Lola and her person can be found at http://sharyhover.com/.

The 2 Brown Dawgs always have some wonderful pictures on their blog and I’ve learned a lot about what a hunting dog does. They will also be adding a puppy to the mix very soon so there will be three brown dawgs. I’m looking forward to more puppy pics which will be coming to http://2browndawgs.com/.

Iowa Dog Blog has great pictures and stories about Duke and Gertie and sometimes other things dogs. A recent post gave great tips on photographing dogs – something my person needs to learn since I’m not always very cooperative. This blog is at http://iowadogblog.wordpress.com

I’m not sure Mumsy is always happy with Chancy’s gardening efforts in Chancy the Gardener, but they are both very sweet and are also joined by several other animals at http://chancythegardner.wordpress.com/

I wish I could give all my friends an award but I’m all worn out now. I think I’ll sleep and get all rested up – so tomorrow I can go out and have more adventures.

Special Treats

Today is exactly one month since I’ve been blogging and I have to say I’ve been having tons of fun. My person thinks that the more I blog, the more trouble I get into so I’ll have more stuff to write about. Maybe she’s right. I got in all kinds of trouble yesterday, but I’m still in trouble for it so I can’t write about it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I had a special surprise yesterday. One of my first blogging friends, Bassa, sent me a message that she (I think Bassa is a she) had given me two blogging awards. I’m so excited! Thank you Bassa.

Bassa is a Caucasian Shepherd who writes a daily blog and posts all kinds of cool pictures. You can check Bassa’s blog out at http://bassasblog.wordpress.com.

I don’t think I’m as sweet as Bassa, but maybe there’s a little bit of sweetness in me since I received this sweet award.

The “rules” of this award are the following:

1. Thank and link to the person who awarded you.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

3. Pass the award on to 5 more blogging friends.

4. Contact those friends and congratulate them!

Let’s see – what are seven random facts about me?

  1.  I’ll eat anything – fruit, vegetables, meat (mmm), dog food, plastic (yes, even plastic) – except olives. I hate olives.
  2. I don’t like it when Scratchy scratches my nose.
  3. My person won’t ever let me off my leash because she thinks I’ll run away (she’s right).
  4. I can jump really high.
  5. I love to drag my Frisbee through the snow.
  6. I rescued a little dog from a coyote attack once.
  7. I’m a home wrecker (well, maybe just doors, blinds, and washing machines) – (My person made me put this last one in – she said I’d have to get off the computer if I didn’t).

So much for my random facts. Now I need to pass on the awards to five blogger friends. There are two that deserve special mention, but Bassa already beat me to giving them awards. They are Rumpy Dog at http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/ and Bones at http://bonesdiary.wordpress.com/. These are two great dogs with really fun blogs. So, the special moment. My awards go to:

Lola doesn’t get to write on her person’s blog very often, but her person loves to write and has great coffee mugs. Lola visited my home town one time and she reads my blog a lot and comments on it. You can find Lola and her person at http://sharyhover.com .

Tiffany Dickerson writes about her faith journeys and they’re fun to read. She really made my day when she was one of the first to subscribe to my blog. You can find her at http://thewriteplacethewritetime.wordpress.com.

Sandra Branum writes some cool poetry and stuff. Her blog is at http://sandrabranum.wordpress.com.

Iowa Dog Blog is a new friend and has great pictures and stories about the dogs. You can find them at iowadogblog.wordpress.com

Stealing Faith is a great blog that one of my person’s friends writes. It’s really funny and fun. I don’t even know if she reads my blog, but that’s okay. Her blog is at http://stealingfaith.com/.
Congratulations to my 5 blogger friends. You fully deserve these awards!

To pick up the awards you should:

  • Thank and link to the person who nominates you.
  • Share seven random facts about yourself.
  • Pass the award to five more blogger friends.
  • Contact and congratulate the blogs nominated.

It’s been really hard for me to write all this serious stuff, but my person told me if I didn’t do it I would be in deep trouble.
