Quail Talk

29 Mar

Quail in a treeI wish I understood quail talk. Today I saw a quail in a tree and it was talking to another quail. The first quail would make a sound and then the second would answer.

I wonder if they were talking about me. I sure wish I knew what they were saying. What if they were laughing at me? They were way up in the trees and I was on the ground. Maybe they thought that was funny.

Or maybe they were making fun of the way I look. I don’t think I look that bad, but I sure look different than those quail.

Maybe they took some lessons from those pesky squirrels and they just wanted to give me a bad time. I might have to take some tree climbing lessons so I can go after them. Or maybe some lessons in quail talk so they can’t talk right in front of me without me knowing what they’re saying.

What, person? You think they were calling to find a mate? They were looking for a cute girl quail so they could have fuzzy little quail babies?

You mean they weren’t talking about me at all? Come on quail. I thought I deserved more attention than that.

All kinds of birds are always poking fun at me Bongo.
All I hear is all kinds of chirping EVERYTIME I walk by them.
If you ask me…They ARE talking about us…:-)

Penny, It’s nice to know that New York birds are the same as Arizona birds. I think we should talk about them.

Oh those quail…Even if they were making fun of you, at least you don’t have that silly feather sticking off your head like they do! Silly, silly birds…You’re far cuter than they are, Bongo!

Anastasia, those quail do look pretty funny with that silly feather sticking off their head. I think I’ll go out and laugh at them.

Rumpy, I guess I’ve been around people too long. I’m starting to think like them.

Cupcake, you’re making me blush. It’s a good thing you can’t see it through all my hair.

Bongo if a Quail ever writes to us we’ll try to get more answers for you. They could have at least said hello. Maybe mating interferes with manners?

Can you eat those qualls Bongo? Just wondering if they are the eating kind or just for looking kind. Oh, you probably can’t catch them without shooting them so, never mind. For your eyes only . . . 🙂

Sunshine, I think those quail are edible but around here no one is allowed to shoot them so they only have to worry about cats and coyotes. Mostly it’s the baby chicks who are in danger.

I think I would have a great time chasing quail. Wonder where I could find some around here…

    Woofs & hugs, ❤

Bailey, come on by in the summer. There are lots of quail running around then. We can chase them together.

Marina, you’d think I’d be the most important thing when they saw me on the trails.

Wow, Bongo, you have quails in trees. I’ve never seen them sitting on a tree. I googled the voice, and I think they have a lovely 123-sound, like they ask you to dance on their rythm, like a quick-step 😀

Angels Whisper, I never thought of dancing to quail music. I might have to try that next time.

I think that quails were talking about you as you are such a handsome, cool, and pawgeous dog they never seen!!! I don’t let them make fun of you!!! We have two white-eyes on the tree in our small garden and they sometimes talk each other like your quails. Me, too I wish I could understand what they are saying…. 🙂

Thanks Kevin. I think maybe someone should start giving bird talk lessons for dogs. Then maybe we could learn to understand them.

Collies and Chuck, I bet if I put feathers on those quail would think I was one of them.

Bongo, maybe they know you hike a lot and were asking if you had seen any cute Quail chicks?

Karen, I hadn’t thought of that. I’m usually looking for cute dogs, but a cute quail did cross my path yesterday.
