Big Brown

04 Jan

Brown TruckThere’s a big brown truck that comes by here some days. Sometimes it stops in front of my house and a person gets out. Sometimes she comes right up to my door. I don’t know what business that person has coming to my door. I don’t know her. I don’t think my people know her either.

When strangers come to my house I bark. I jump up on the back of the couch so I can see out the window and I bark and bark. Nobody’s coming to my house unless I allow it.

My person tries to get me to stop barking, but what does she know. Doesn’t she know I’m trying to protect her? After all, who knows what that person might be up to? Pretty suspicious – dressed in the same color as that truck. She probably thinks no one will notice her leaving the truck when she dresses that way. She thinks she will blend right in. But she doesn’t.

I must have made it clear to that person that she’s not wanted here because she comes up to the door and turns right around and leaves. She gets back in her truck and drives away.

Take that, you brown clothed person. Just try coming to my door again. I’ll show you who’s the boss around here.

Jaxart4animals, I can be a really scary dog where my people are concerned, but most of the time I just wag my tail and look for loves.

That same truck comes here but my people know the man. After I tell them he is here I wag my tail, jump around and act like a fool and he gives me a brisket and scratches my ears. The same thing happens when the lady wih the clipboard goes behind my home.

Pablo, if I got a brisket and some loves I might change my tune. Maybe I should turn on my charm with this person in the brown truck and see what happens – after I’m done barking, that is.

I use that same technique. It works for the mail man, too.

Lola, I’m glad we’re on the same page. My person knows my mail lady though, so when she comes to the door she gives me loves.

I love your courage, but be careful what you wish for. Sometimes, the brown-clothed person in the brown truck brings toys for me packed in brown boxes. I still hate him, but new toys are awesome!

    Love & licks,

Cupcake, I guess as long as they drop that box before they leave it’s alright. I’ll be checking those boxes from now on.

O’ve seen them- but they don’t come by here much and rarely stop. They fear me.

Rumpy, you’ve got them trained better than I do. I may have to come to you for some lessons.

    We Are With You Bongo!

We put on our fearsome faces and bark like maniacs but the person in brown always walks up to the door and leaves as if he is saying he is not afraid of us!!! How dare they leave and not pet us!!!!! Oh yeah Brown Person, once Mick learns to open that door (he can open most doors in the house) we are coming out and then we shall see how much of a smarty-pants you are!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

    God Bless You!

The Brown Person Hating Collies 🙂

Mick, I think you ought to get with it on that outside door. I would love to see all you collies chasing that brown person.

After the person in the brown truck arrived bearing boxes full of wrapped gifts for the fourth time in as many days, my 2-year-old granddaughter looked at her mom and said “Is that Santa?” She needs somebody like you, Bongo, to show her the ropes.

Winsomebella, I would definitely teach your granddaughter that that brown person isn’t Santa. Although I might bark at him too if he didn’t introduce himself first.

Bongo, the German seems to be of like mind about the brown truck its driver. Loud, loud, and loud.

Hey German, we need to get together for a Brown truck serenade.

Madam Lasagna is right beside you, Bongo. She despises the UPS truck with everything she’s got! When we go for a walk, she challenges the big truck even 1/2 mile from home. Disgraceful how they rattle by making noise and lingering by driveways. Who cares if the driver gives her a milk bone when he sees her. It’s still wrong!!! 😉

Madame Lasagna, they think because they drive those big trucks that they’re invincible. Well, we’ll show them.

You show ’em, Bongo! How dare some strange woman dressed in brown come up and ring your doorbell and run away! When it happens at my house, none of our pups like it either. And neither does Roory because the barking annoys her very much 🙂

We have a brown clothed person here too. Same truck too. Brown clothed person comes up to the door and leaves. You don’t suppose it is the same person, do you?

Brown Dawgs, Santa goes everywhere in one night. I bet this person does the same thing.

We don’t have the same truck in Japan but mom and me have seen the truck and the logo on TV or on the newpaper ad! Hmmm…very suspicious human…in uniform…
We have some different trucks come to our house sometimes and a stranger in uniform the same as their truck is coming at our door. Of course I bark and bark like you do, Bongo!
Yes, we have to protect our humans because they protect us in the other ways!!! 🙂

Wonderbutt protects us from all vehicles in a two block radius. Apparently his defense of us knows no boundaries. At least his defense against motor vehicles does not. Against rodents, it’s a different story.

Wonderbutt probably thinks that rodent is Dimple’s new pet.

Bongo you remind me of my poodle, Feisty. He barked like a maniac whenever someone was home and a visitor came to the door, but if he was alone he never made a sound. We found this out when my aunt knocked on the door and no one was home.

Sandra, I hope Bongo barks at intruders when we’re not home. It’s either that or if they enter the house he licks them to death.

LOL! We do the same thing to the big brown truck and the person who comes to our door dressed in brown! One time we waited to bark until the delivery man walked past the window, when we barked he jumped 5 feet off the ground! It was great!

Jen and the Newfies, that is too funny. I don’t think I could restrain myself until the person dressed in brown got that close, but I would love to make him jump like that.

Too funny sweet Bongo…are you sure that she didn’t leave you a nice gift at the door? Sometimes a brown truck like that comes to our place and leaves us something nice. You sure are good to bark at introoders…keep up the good work. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, come to think of it – after that brown truck leaves my person opens the door and brings a box inside. I wonder if that box has anything to do with the person dressed in brown? Hugs and nose kisses back to you.

You are quite right to defend and guard. I am the same but have extended my exclusion zone to include the whole street! 🙂

Bassa, I share the guarding of my street with all my neighbor dogs. I hope they defend against that brown truck as well as I do.
