One of my favorite things to do on my trails is to go walking in the wash. My person used to follow me in there when I wanted to go.
But now when I try to head down the trail to the wash she holds back and won’t go with me. Just because it’s steep with loose rocks and she slipped on them once.
I tried to help her up when she slipped, but she wouldn’t go for it. She was sitting there in the dirt and I jumped all over her trying to get a good hold so I could help her up.
And you know what she did? She pushed me off of her. What kind of gratitude is that? I’m trying to help her and she pushes me away.
She did get back up on her own and we went the rest of the way down the trail and into the wash. But she won’t go down that trail anymore.
I tricked her though. A little ways past that trail is another trail that goes into the wash. It’s not as steep and doesn’t have as many loose rocks. I guess my person doesn’t notice that we’re still going into the wash because I head that way and she just follows along.
I wonder where else I could get her to follow.

Oh oh Bongo, I gotta tell you that peoples can be a little more fragile than you & me. When I was a puppy I kinda made my Mom slip on a wet rock & she sort of fell on top of herself & well, I guess she broke her ankle. You’ve got to be careful cause if there’s a broken ankle involved you’re not going to be going on walks for about 6 weeks. Gentleness Bongo, gentleness…Lola

Lola, thanks for the advice. I didn’t think of that. I’ve pulled my person over a few times but she always got up and walked afterwards. I’d better be careful of her ankles. That would be really bad to miss my walks.

I love to race down hills, but my person always wants to go slowly. I guess two legs aren’t as steady as four.

Lola, I guess our people don’t know what they’re missing without those extra two legs. They sure would be much more fun to walk with.

My mom walks carefully, too. When I was little, she said all my zigging and zagging was going to end up killing her. Then she brought me to school until I learned how to walk nicely. I still lose my mind, sometimes, on account of my tiny brain…

Cupcake, sometimes I just have the urge to run – but I usually end up going boing—at the end of my leash. Us dogs have such a difficult life sometimes.

You gotta be kind to your person, Bongo – people aren’t as nifty as you are – and where would you be if your person couldn’t take you out on your trails! Then you’d have to be ultra careful of your second person then….. But I’m glad you can get into the wash an easier way.

Susan, sometimes I just don’t get why my person has so much trouble on some of my trails. They’re no problem for me.

Having 4 paws and closer to the ground makes you a bit more sure footed than your person. Be kind and don’t make her go places that are slippery. What would you do if she fell and couldn’t get up? It would be really scary. Maybe you could get her one of those med-alert thingies to wear.

Patricia, my person would always get up. I’d jump on her until she does. But maybe I could get her a med-alert thingy too.

Oh Bongo, you’re a very good doggy who tried to help your person up when she slipped! I always wait for her getting back up without exra help, felling irritated! BOL! Once, my auntie (mom’s sister) took me a walk, she teisted her ankle when I pull her strongly to run! Of course, I felt very sorry for her at that time though….

Kevin, I got warned about twisting my person’s ankle – that I might not get walks for awhile – so I guess I’d better be careful.

Ah, Bongo, you have to take care of your person [after all who’s the real boss here?!]. It’s not as easy to keep balance on two legs… show some compassion!

Marina, I’ll try to be nice to my person – as long as she remembers that I’m the boss.

Rooo you’ve gotta be careful with that person of yours, they can be very fragile! I accidentally pushed mine a little in the middle of a game of fetch (not on purpose) and she nearly fell over and complained about a sore ankle for weeks. *waggy tail*

Alfie, I guess I’m lucky I haven’t hurt my person’s ankle yet. That would be horrible missing all my walks.

Sweet Bongo, us people are so unsteady in a way. I remember ending up in a lamppost when I followed the dog of the children… but she wasn’t as helpfull as you 😦
Bongo, I have a story to share and when you’ve time I’ll hope you will read it.

Angels Whisper, I had my person stop by and read your story. I could send Scratchy over to you if it would make you feel better.

Hey Jet, everyone has been warning me I could really hurt my person. I wonder how I could get her to grow a couple of extra legs.

Chancy and Mumsy, I’ll make sure to keep you posted – unless I make my person fall and she breaks her camera. I guess I’d better be a little careful where I take her.

That was a very pretty place Bongo we would like to see it. I would probably fall at least once too, I have slipped on the rocks on our woods walks several times. The girls always run back to see if Mom is OK and luckily Dad helps me up.
