I cannot believe the mischief my person was up to this weekend. On Sunday afternoon we had one of those nasty thunderstorms. It kept getting louder and louder and then finally – craackk!!! – the lightning and the thunder came at the same time – right over the house. It was the loudest thunder in history!
My person took me outside after that and I was glad to get out of the house where that loud noise hit.
I took care of business and got some loves from my neighbor, and then you know what my person did?
She drug me back into the house. That’s where the loud noise came from. I don’t want to go back in there.
And then a little while later my person did it again. She took me outside for a walk and now the thunder was rumbling on my trails.
I wish my person would let me stay where the thunder isn’t.
It wasn’t too bad at first because we were going away from the thunder. But then my person started getting really mischievous. She wanted to head back. I didn’t like that direction at all. Come on person, let’s keep going this direction.
Finally we made it back home. The thunder’s outside now so I’m heading in. But what I really wish is that my person would stop her mischief and figure out how to turn the thunder off.
I guess until she does I’ll bury myself under this blanket.

Poor Bongo! There is REALLY a lot of thunder in your neighborhood. The blanket is a great strategy and a real fashion statement. You’ve been wearing your Thundershirt more often than I’ve worn all my sundresses put together! Hang in there, Buddy.
Love and licks,

Cupcake, my person has hardly taken my Thundershirt off in the last few days. I even met another dog wearing one on my trails yesterday. I thought the blanket was a real fashion statement too.

Penny, it would be a big help if we could hide from the thunder together.

Snoopy, I’m about ready to get under my blanket again. I hear that thunder rumbling. I wish the blanket would muffle out all the noise.

What’s up with all this thunder Bongo? We had some at my house too! It’s everywhere and I wish there was a switch we could turn off but you know what I think? I think the cats are making it thunder – yup, those cats found some way to make thunder noise…Lola

Lola, you’ve got a point there. I think I’m going to get after Scratchy right now. No wonder the thunder doesn’t bother him – he caused it.

Well I know when Moe gets scratched under the chin he makes this rumbling noise so I’m thinking he’s got some kind of amplifier that turns it waaaay up. I don’t know about Scratchy, but when there’s thunder here Moe just looks smug.

Scratchy’s the same way. It’s a cat conspiracy!

Misty Shores, my person says we still have a little over a month of boomers left. I wonder if I could just find a hole to hide in until them. I guess I’d better make sure my person throws some treats down in it though.

Best dressed in that blanket, Bongo.
(hope you got some rain with that thunder…wait, do you think the fact that the thunder is chasing you has anything to do with those mysterious cactus plants littering your trail and that odd sign?)

Karen, we’ve been getting lots of rain with the thunder. All the people here are happy about that. I never thought of the thunder having to do with the cactus and that sign. Maybe they were running away from the thunder and they tripped – right in the middle of the trail.

Sweet Bongo if your person figures out how to stop that thunder will you let us know. We have those loud thunders inside and outside when they come. I just can’t get away from that loud noise. Does putting a blanket over your ears help? I haven’t tried that. Hugs and nose kisses your friend Chancy

Chancy, I think we need to get both our people on that thunder thing. Maybe they can come up with something to get rid of it if they work on it together. The blanket doesn’t really help, but it makes me feel more cosy.

Oh, Bongo, the thunderstorm is going on for such a long time and it seems it never stops. Stay under your blanket, if it feels better. Hang in there, ok!

Angels Whisper, it seems like the thunderstorms just aren’t quitting this year. I’m hiding under my blanket for sure.

Oh, Bongo, I can’t believe how long these thunderstorms last!!!! I’m starting to believe it’s personal! Could it be there’s this one thunder that keeps following you because it’s found out your weakness? Bongo, you better show this thunder what Super Dog means! …maybe with a little help from a few drops of Bach’s Rescue Remedy, or any plant extract with calming effects.

Marina, I almost forgot about Super Dog with all this thunder. Oh yeah, Super Dog can chase it away! My person looked online and found out they have Bach’s Rescue Remedy for pets. I think I’ll send her to the store to see if they have some.

Oh no…..we can easily imagine the loud thunder and the crack noise from your description, Bongo. Besides the lightning and the thunder came at the same time??? How scary!!! Although I can deal with thunders, my mom can’t, so she feels very sorry for Bongo who had to experience those awful situations. *hugs*

Kevin, I think I’ll be hiding under my blanket for another month. I can’t wait till the thunder goes away. Thanks for the hugs.

Thunder is so scary! I’m glad we don’t have much of it where I live, but we still have some loud noises that scare me. People keep setting off fireworks and I really hate that. I’m glad you have your thundershirt and I think maybe I need one, too.
Bongo
July 31, 2012 at 12:41 pm
Lola, the thundershirt helps me some, but I still get scared. Maybe you could come here during fireworks time because it’s usually so dry they don’t allow them – and then I can come to your house during thunder time.
