I think it’s time to put on my Detective Dog hat. I haven’t worn it in awhile. But today I saw the strangest thing on my trails – or actually at the trailhead before I got to my trails.
.
.
.
.
.
A pair of boots.
Why would anybody leave a pair of boots here? I mean, boots are made for walking aren’t they? My person wears boots whenever she takes me out on my trails.
Yeah I know, I don’t need boots, and neither do any of my dog friends. But people are different. They’re wimps. They get out there with their soft little feet and go ooch, ouch, this is hot – or this is too prickly – or a snake might bite me.
Something must be seriously wrong for a person to leave a pair of boots here.
I’d better check them out. Maybe I can get some clues.
Maybe there’s a suspicious odor around these boots.
Not much here, but at least now if I see a person on my trails without any boots – especially one that’s gimping along and complaining about pricklers and things – I’ll be able to smell their feet and I’ll know if that person belongs to these boots.

Those heels look pretty fearsome. Maybe someone realized they weren’t good to wear on a trail?

Delft, I think someone must have realized those heels weren’t good for anything.

Patreciau, there always seems to be some mystery on my trails that needs solving.

That’s where those boots went. You know that hole that sucks up boots and socks, well I swear those boots are mine and must have been sucked into that vortex and sent to Arizona….No wait, on second thought those aren’t the right size….
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:38 pm
Jaz, are you sure they aren’t the right size. I could go check for you. If there yours that would mean that Detective Dog – me – has solved another mystery.

When you find out the size let me know Bongo!

August 10, 2012 at 12:25 pm
Really, who would leave a pair of boots there?
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:38 pm
Dianda, I haven’t been able to figure that out either. People leave some strange things on my trails.

I noticed, Bongo!

Roo, here’s an idea Bongo. Perhaps the boots were left for you to find, from someone wanting to give you a nice chew toy? *waggy tail*
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:39 pm
Alfie, I hadn’t thought of that since my person won’t let me chew on shoes and boots. I bet that’s what they did. I’d better go back and get them and start chewing.

Those boots weren’t made for walkin’? Bongo, you live in the most mysterious world!

Karen, my person said it was something about a song. I don’t know what she’s talking about though.

Boots on a trail? That does seem pretty weird!!!!
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:43 pm
Rumpy, most of the people on my trails seem pretty nice, but sometimes there are some weird ones who do weird things – or maybe they were thinking of me and knew I needed something to write about on my blog.

That really is odd. What happens to this stuff you find? Does it disappear just as mysteriously as it appears?
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:44 pm
Patricia, some stuff hangs around for a few days, but it all disappears mysteriously eventually.

Hmmm weird thing to find on a trail, especially those kind of boots, not good for hiking around on trails. You find the most interesting things on your trails Bongo!
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 1:44 pm
Misty Shores, I guess interesting trails attract interesting things. All the better for Detective Dog.

Looks like Mary Poppins got a new pair of shoes and dumped her old ones! …or she lost them on her flight to find you and grant your wishes!!!!

Marina, my person says she wishes Mary Poppins would help her clean her room.

Very strange…..besides the boots look still useful to wear, so there is no need to throw away…
*whispers* I like sniffing humans old shoes….heeheehee…. 🙂

Kevin, humans old shoes have some pretty good smells, don’t they?

Hey Bongo, Jet here.
A fine job of detecting, Scooby Doo Academy would be proud!

Hey Jet, with enough detecting practice maybe I could actually teach a class at the Scooby Doo Academy.

Yep, sweet Bongo we say something is terrible wrong when somebody walks outta their boots while walking on your trail. We know you will have your sniffer working on high looking for the feet that go in those boots. Maybe there will be a fine lookin’ lady that lost them…you know like Cinderella. lol Hugs and nose kisses
Bongo
August 11, 2012 at 8:17 pm
Chancy and Mumsy, if I find Cinderella without her boots I’ll have to kiss her feet before I help her put her boots back on. Woo woo!

They look totally unsuitable for trail walking Bongo. Did you notice any bare feet footprints?

Bassa, I saw lots of bare feet footprints, but they all belonged to dogs.

maybe aliens left them there!
Bongo
August 12, 2012 at 12:59 pm
Misaki, I think you’re right. Those aliens might not have known how rough and rocky my trails are until they got here. They probably were watching city people and thought they were ready to fit right in anywhere on the planet.

That is a strange place to leave your boots. I think you would want to wear them on the trail. She might have a more comfortable pair to walk trails, but then she should have left that pair in the car or house?!
Bongo
August 13, 2012 at 12:22 pm
Lexie and Mica, I couldn’t figure out why they were left there either. They were in good shape, you’d think someone would want to keep them – or maybe they thought it would be nice to leave them out as chew toys for all of us dogs on the trails.

That’s weird, Bongo, but she must have had a lot of guts, going on barefooted. I’m sure you’ll figure it out, Mr. Holmes 🙂
Bongo
August 13, 2012 at 2:03 pm
Angels Whisper, people don’t like to go barefoot around here. The ground is hot and it’s full of prickly things. I’m still looking for that barefoot person though.

Oh, one of my favorite things.. going barefoot! That is till Ginger steps on my foot… LOL…. You may not want to know why they took those boots off….. ppl do lots of strange things…

August 15, 2012 at 5:52 pm
Collies, my person says she used to like going barefoot in Seattle where she grew up, but she says it’s not a good idea for people to do that in Arizona.
