Too Dark

21 Aug

Bongo in the darkThis time of year my person and I usually go out on my trails when it’s almost dark. That’s because it’s too hot during the day, but when the sun goes down it gets really nice. But it’s too dark to take a picture.

So how am I going to prove that I went out and saw so many of my dog friends today. I guess they all had the same idea we did.

First I saw one of my neighbor dog friends. I don’t get to see her very often because she lives way down at the other end of the street.

Then I saw a little dog that was so little she had to be carried. I guess her tiny legs couldn’t go that far. What seems like a few feet to me must have seemed like miles to her.

Then there was my bike dog friend. This little dog is always running behind his person who is riding a bike. He never stops to say hi because he’s too busy keeping up with the bike.

A brown dog got off the trail when I showed up, and then my person made me get off the trail for two more dogs.

I know you’re not going to believe I saw so many dog friends within five minutes of walking on my trails, but what can I say. It was too dark to take a picture.

Sweet Kitten, neither of my girlfriends were around. I think they’re hiding from me.

You have a lot of friends. You are popular, B. All I saw today was the VET! It was time for one of my shots. Youch. My butt is still a little sore from it. Happily, I got a million treats, and I kissed the vet and the nurses so much, I think we are engaged!

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, I don’t like the shots but I like going to the vet for the loves and treats. I’m glad you get lots of loves and treats too.

Susan, I’m glad somebody believes me. My person seems to think nobody will believe me if I don’t show them a picture. Maybe I can get her to stop taking so many pictures and walk more.

Misty Shores. I’m glad you believe me. I’m hoping my person will realize that and stop taking so many pictures and start walking more.

Have you had cheese before going on your trail? cause i fink the humans say that can make you dream fings which did not happen?!

    • Bongo

      August 22, 2012 at 10:59 am

Dalton, my person hardly ever gives me cheese. She says it doesn’t agree with me. Does it make you dream good things?

or bad depending on how much you have i think! Surely the more you have the happier you are so the better the dreams?

Please do not worry, Bongo! We believe whatever you say, so surely you’ve met many dog friends on your trails! Hmmmm….I just feel very sorry for your bike friend, Bongo….because he can’t stop at where he wants to….I think that sniffing things on our walk is one of our duties, isn’t it? Woof?

    • Bongo

      August 22, 2012 at 11:04 am

Kevin, my bike friend looks like he’s having fun following that bike, but I bet he misses the sniffing part. Or maybe he’s so busy running he’s never had a chance to learn how much fun sniffing can be.

Bongo we will believe you because we all like to wait until its cooler to go out and walk. We think its great that you got to see so many friends and your walk and have a lot of fun. The problem here is there are sooo many mosquitoes and a lot of them have West Nile Virus. so a lot of times we just don’t get our walks. Enjoy some for us 🙂

    • Bongo

      August 23, 2012 at 12:11 am

Lexie and Mica, that sounds horrible – all those mosquitoes with West Nile Virus. We don’t have many mosquitoes on my trails because the only time there’s water is after it rains.

I believe you, Bongo. You’re seeing so many of your friends because they had the same idea as you. Wait until it’s dark and cooler. It’s been hot here, so Henry and I are doing the same. Waiting until the sun begins to set.

      August 23, 2012 at 12:12 am

Monica, sometimes my person and I are the only ones on my trails – but there sure were a lot of my friends this time.

I’ve been taking lots of night walks lately, too, but I don’t have any photographic proof, either. I’m invisible in the dark. 🙂

      August 23, 2012 at 12:01 pm

Lola, you would really blend in in the dark. I bet that helps for sneaking up on things like cats and rabbits.

Lola, I bet you’re person loves it when you sneak up on those skunks.

Dianda, I’m not afraid of much of anything – except thunder.

Collies, that sounds like fun. We get pretty good full moons here. I’ll have to take my person for a walk next time we have one.

Bongo, can I ask your opinion? What do you think about the idea of running alongside a human who is riding a bike? Whenever I see this scenario in my neighborhood, I always feel terrible for the dog! No matter how big or energetic the dog is, I’m sure it’s always difficult for him or her to keep up with the human! What do YOU think? I’m anxious to hear a dog’s POV! Thanks!

      September 5, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Jessica, when I was a pup I probably would have loved doing that. I still would love it, but I probably wouldn’t last as long. I just have one dog friend that I see doing that. He’s a little dog and he never stops to say hi because he’s too busy following the bike. They go on my trails and the trails are really rocky so bikes can’t go very fast. I guess it depends on the dog. Some dogs are born for running (like those sled dogs in Alaska) and some aren’t.
