I Pick the Pets

24 Aug

Bongo with squeaky toysOkay person, whatever you do, you’re not bringing home a new pet without my permission. I don’t care what size it is, or how fuzzy it is, I’ve got to check that pet out before you’re allowed to bring it home.

If you find a puppy, it’s got to be the right puppy. That puppy would have to play with me when I want it to, and let me take my naps when I’m ready for one.

And if you get a kitten it better be a cuddly one. Either that or one that will keep Scratchy occupied so he doesn’t bother me.

You’d better not get any birds though, because Scratchy would give the birds what for. And he might do that with any cute little animals you decide to bring home.

Maybe you could get a rabbit – but it has to be a big one so it can hold its own with Scratchy. On second thought, maybe not. I’ve heard those rabbits leave little pellets all over the place. I wonder if they taste good – I mean, maybe you could teach the rabbit to use Scratchy’s litter box.

Do you think a snake or a lizard would be good? They could stick out their tongues and give Scratchy what for if he tried to harass them.

What kind of pet are you thinking of person?

You’d better not get one of those. Scratchy might bop it across the room.

That looks like one tickly mousie – not sure it would pass Scratchy’s mousie criteria.

Karen, I think Scratchy would like batting it around though. And he might not know the difference. He never is allowed outside to find little mousies. He might even think a lizard was a mouse.

Creepy factor – through the roof – that is just horrible – you may not, under any circumstances, have that as a pet!

Susan, I guess my person thought the same thing because she just took some pictures of it as it was wandering off.

Pets can be annoying. Just saying…

Cupcake, I agree with you. If I had my way I’d be the only pet in the house – and of course I’m never annoying.

We like the way you think Bongo. Good rules for your person to follow.

Bella and DiDi, if my person follows those rules she’ll be much happier. Happy pets means a happy person.

I agree that you and Scratchy need to weigh in on the selection. I am not a fan of spiders as pets, but to each there own. LOL

Dogdaz, my person said she’ll let the spiders live outside, but she just was talking to our neighbor and he said he used to have a great big one of those as a pet.

Oh Bongo, I am aracnophobic and nearly fainted dead on the floor when I saw that photo. As much as I love you, if you get a pet like that I won’t be able to watch! x

Bumpy Road, my person promises she won’t get me a tarantula. But one came visiting my yard a little while ago.

Kat n Collies, my person says I’m all the dog she can handle for now. Maybe if I’m really good she’ll get me a puppy to play with.

Those tarantulas are pretty tame as long as you give them their own space. I don’t think they’d make a good house pet. We’ve had a few in our garage when we lived in AZ but they were rather shy and didn’t hang around there for very long. Ever see a tarantula hawk paralyze a tarantula? That’s pretty amazing.

Lindy, my person says she’s only seen videos of tarantula hawks paralyzing tarantulas, but we see a lot of tarantula hawks flying around on my trails. We see lots more of them than we see of tarantulas.

Those cute little stuffed ones are nice Bongo, but if some one is thinking about that last one you might have to move. I don’ t think those make good pets for anyone, eeeek!!!

There are these cuddly stuffed toys she could get in many sizes for all of you, but another pet… ?

    • Bongo

      August 25, 2012 at 11:32 am

Marina, I agree. I’ll take the cuddly stuffed animals. Another pet would try to steal all my person’s attention.

Bongo, it’s good that you make your point about the pets. These little spiders are more fun for cats 😀

Angels Whisper, maybe I should bring one in the house and let Scratchy play with it – or better yet, I’ll send Scratchy out to go get the spiders.

I think you should authorize he entrance of any pet at home too, and if it enters without your authorization you should be able to deport it.

Doggy’s Style, I totally agree. Any new pet has got to look up to me and not take away any of my person’s attention. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

*gasps* Oh no Bongo! Is that a spider? So scary….is she venomous? How big is she? You found her near your house?

    • Bongo

      August 25, 2012 at 11:54 am

Kevin, that is a tarantula. My person found this one in the parking lot at her church, but then we found one outside our house. We usually see them in August every year. They’re not really poisonous. It might sting a little if you got bit, but they’re very gentle and don’t normally bite. The tarantulas are about 3 to 4 inches across.

Patreciau, my neighbor said he used to have one for a pet. I told my person that Scratchy and I would probably play with it too much and it might get squished.

Winnie, I never thought of that. But they might have to hang out with the frog. I hope the frog would approve.

Chancy and Mumsy, I told my person she couldn’t bring that pet home. It’s not playful enough. Hugs and nose kisses back to you.

Bassa, my person says one of her cousins used to have a pet pig. And the cousin’s next door neighbors have alpacas. I wonder if an alpaca would play with me.

We think you should get a collie! LOL….. Ginger has all kinds of ideas about that Spider…. like locking it in a cage with scratchy…. our perhaps a dozen in a cage with scratchy.. or.. heck just nuke scratchy…. *dad is just holding his head right now… wonder why*

    • Bongo

      August 28, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Ginger, my person is holding her head too. Our people are strange sometimes. But a collie sounds like a good pet – one that would do mischief with me.
