Do you believe it? My younger person was taking stuff from the house and putting it in his car tonight. Stuff he needed for that college place. And they locked me in the bedroom.
My people said they had to leave the door open and they didn’t want me running outside.
So what did they do? Well, they didn’t lock Scratchy in the bedroom with me. They let him have free reign of the house with that open door right there.
And the sad thing is that with all that wide open outside waiting to be explored, Scratchy stayed right at that open door and sniffed the door frame.
I suppose there might have been some good smells there, but there’s so many more smells further out. I’m so disappointed in Scratchy for not taking advantage of his situation. I would have been out that door in a shot. What’s wrong with Scratchy?
And when my people started heading back into the house…
Scratchy ran back in as fast as his little feet could take him. He does not know how to take advantage of a good situation.
I’ve got to convince my people that it’s Scratchy that needs to be locked in the bedroom and me that should be allowed by that open door.

Somebody needs a walk, huh?! Still, I think Scratchy knows exactly what he’s doing! He knows where loves and safety is …home!

Marina, sometimes Scratchy would sneak out when he was little – then for a long time he would still sneak out but he’d always let my person catch him. Now he just looks out the door.

Misaki, it works best if I take a run for it as soon as I see the door starting to open. But my people have caught on to what I do and it doesn’t work anymore.

Sweet Bongo did you try barking in protest? Maybe you can come up with a good plan that will let you get out and investigate the next time that door is left open. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, I’ve tried sneaking and it used to work but my people have figured out what I do. I’ve got to come up with another way.

That Scratchy is smart enough to know when he’s got a good thing. (or maybe he knows he’s not as clever as you and doesn’t dare walk outside for fear he can’t find the way back?…but don’t tell him I said “not as smart”, Bongo…no need to embarrass him)

Karen, I think Scratchy’s afraid of the coyotes. I’d just give those coyotes what for.

No, sit! Stay! The coyotes (and assorted wild varmits) have a whole different code of conduct. (But they will give you a slice of respect where as Scratchy is right to feel like lunch.)
Just dream about coyotes – safely indoors!

Karen, I like chasing after coyotes. I’m not sure why, but my person gets really upset with me when I do.

Hi Bongo,
I guess you just need to teach Scratchy a little bit about mischief. Maybe you can sneak out the front door one day and show Scratchy where the good smells are.
Happy Monday!

Colby, I keep trying to teach Scratchy some mischief, but he doesn’t seem to want anything to do with it. He has his own style of mischief.

Bongo, I can’t understand that you had to be locked inside of the bedroom. Is it because they didn’t need more help 😉

don’t like to say this Bongo but do you think that maybe your person knows who she can trust not to ‘make a dive for freedom’. I think also that she did it because she loves you so much and did not want you to get run over…what a lovely thoughtful person she is!!!

Ginger, maybe we could tie Scratchy and Tigger together.

Haha! You are really oppositive! While you die for run out, he is totally captivated by standing warm in home.
Maybe, again, you need to contract with Scratchy and get him to free you when you are locked up 😉

YouKai, I keep trying to get Scratchy to cooperate with me, but so far he won’t have anything to do with it.

Well Bongo, I can’t believe you’re the one who got locked in & I can’t believe that Scratchy didn’t bolt right out the door. Moe isn’t supposed to go outside but he’s gotten out a couple of times & it’s my job to chase him right back inside. Hey, I’m technically a work dog not a herding dog but you gotta do what you gotta do. I’ve had to chase him around the house a few times & when I get him in front of the door I put my nose under his belly & flip him inside. He’s a big scaredy cat anyway .

Lola, sometimes Scratchy sneaks outside when we’re in the back yard. I have to chase him back in, but he runs right back in the house. I guess most cats are scaredy cats.

Sorry you got lock in Bongo but you would have run out. I can’t believe that Scratchy didn’t even check out the front yard. Minx our black cat would have been out the door and behind someones bushes so we couldn’t see her. It always takes us days to get her back in because she only comes home in the middle of the night and she always picks a different time to check in.

Lexie and Mica, I guess Scratchy’s been in the house for so many years that he doesn’t care about going outside any more. Sometimes he tries to sneak out into the back yard though.

Bassa, that might be a good idea – sending Scratchy to college. Maybe I should lure him into the car with cat treats next time my younger person comes home.
