My New Pet

31 Aug

Bongo sniffing an upside down boxMy person and I have not been able to agree on a pet and I was beginning to think I would never get one. Except for my friend Dalton who said she’d come over and be my pet – but my person said it will take her a long time to get here because she lives so far away.

But today, my pet showed up. I don’t know if I picked him, or if he picked me. He came into the house on his own. I told him to be quiet and hide so my person wouldn’t notice him until he was settled in.

But he decided to come out and show himself. He stayed in one spot and kind of blended in to the carpet.

I watched as my person looked toward him. I’d hoped she’d think I left something on the floor and she’d ignore it. At first I thought she did.

But then I saw her do a double take. She looked closer at my pet. And then she walked away.

Well pet, I guess you’re okay here. Maybe it’s time to come up with a name for you.

My person came back with a box and put it over my pet.

Scratchy tried to get the box off. I think he wants a pet too. No Scratchy, I think our person is just keeping him in a box until she can find something better to put him in.

Hey, wait a minute! My person is taking that box outside. And my new pet is in it.

What do you mean I can’t have that pet in the house?

What do you mean he’s an outdoor pet?

Next time I get a new pet I think I’m going to have to put my person outside.

Yes, I think that’s the right decision: put your person outside! 🙂

Sweet Kitten, I might even have to lock the door so she can’t come back in and take my pet.

Oh it’s a lizard…I don’t think that it would make a very good friend. You would not be able to cuddle it or really even play with it. It would not play ball or chase things and you could not take it for a walk…no…it is best that it went back outside and went back to its family…… you have Scratchy..isn’t he your pet?

Patreciau, Scratchy doesn’t want to cuddle or play with me either.

Misaki, if I can get him back in I’ll have to make sure he stays hidden this time.

Cupcake, he’s just like all the other lizards I see outside. They’re always running off.

Oh, sweet Bong we are so sorry…here you found you a nice pet and your mom take it outside. Maybe if you get a pet too big for her to carry she will let you keep it…you think? Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, maybe I should go for a bear – or an elephant. Hugs and nose kisses back to you.

That did look like an interesting pet. But you prolly would have eaten him–if you could catch him.

Patricia, don’t let my person know that. She’ll never let me get a pet.

Patricia, my person thinks he probably would have gotten away from me by hiding under the couch. She thinks he may have even been under the couch for awhile before he decided to come out and show himself.

Well, pets are a lot of responsibility. You have to make sure you’re prepared!

Jen, I could let it sleep next to me and eat some of my dog food – on second thought, I don’t want to share any of my food.

Jen, I changed my mind about that pet. I wouldn’t want to have to share my dog food.

Haha, Bongo…just think, your person might be doing YOU a favor. What if your pet started to eat YOUR food and Scratchy’s food that you occasionally taste to make sure it has no poison?? hmmn……….

Sunshine, I’ve been thinking about that. I don’t think I want a pet after all.

What a cute pet, Bongo… you can still give him[?] a name but your person is right it’s an outdoor pet. Maybe you can hangout together outside.

Marina, I’m so disappointed. My pet ran off already and I can’t seem to find him.

You need a better pet, tell your person you need a pet/friend to play with…someone who can walk in your trails with you and your person…

Kat n Collies, I really think my person should get me a puppy, but she says I’m enough of a handful and she doesn’t need a puppy around. I don’t know why she’s saying that. I would take care of the puppy.

Oh no…what a shame! I think that the lizard might have been a great pet for you as he/she is harmless and normally very quiet. Just…he/she looks a bit grotesque….! yuck!

Kevin, I’m not sure what kind of lizard that was. It looks different than most of the lizards we see around here.

Oh sadly poor bongo your person is right this pet will much happier outside. Don’t give up I’m sure you and your person will agree on a pet soon.

Misty Shores, my person says she doesn’t think I would take care of a pet. All she needs to do is get me a puppy. I would keep it busy playing – but I wouldn’t want to share my food.

Well that shouldn’t be a problem because the puppy would eat puppy food. I hope your person will consider getting you a puppy 🙂

Bongo I think I would have jumped straight up in the air if I saw one of those in the house. It’s a little too much like those snake things that scare me.

      September 1, 2012 at 8:43 pm

Lola, the lizards aren’t nearly as scary as those snake things. We see lots of them outside, but my person says it’s the first time one has come into the house. It surprised her, but she snuck it out before I had a chance to play with it. She said it probably would have hidden under the couch where I couldn’t get to it anyway.

Maybe the lizard is waiting outside for you, Bongo? I think he knows he can’t stay in the house, as long as Scratchy is inside 🙂

Angels Whisper, Scratchy probably wouldn’t be very nice to that lizard. Maybe I’ll have to give Scratchy what for. I couldn’t find my lizard outside though. I think he ran off.

Ginger, I hadn’t thought of that. I could send lizards after anything I couldn’t reach myself. I’m going out now to find me some more lizards.

Dianda, my lizard ran off so I guess he doesn’t get a name.
