It rained today – really, really hard. It made awful sounds on my roof. I didn’t like it at all.
When the rain finally stopped I took my person out for a walk. There was lots of water on my trails, but I expected to see that.
What I didn’t expect to see was that thing in the picture. It’s small. So small that my person couldn’t even get her camera to focus on it. But what is it?
I think it’s some strange new kind of raindrop. It doesn’t soak into the ground, and it doesn’t even melt like hail. I’m going to have to investigate this. Raindrops like this could explain why there was so much noise on my roof.
I walked along my trails and I didn’t see any more of those strange raindrops. But since I heard all that pounding on my roof I bet I could find some in my yard.
I got home, and sure enough – look what I found.
A white one – but it looked just like the other one.
About this time something started clicking in my memory. I remember I used to see those – all over my house. I haven’t seen any lately, but I think I’ll put my Detective Dog hat on and see what I can find.
Woo woo! I had to move some file boxes, but here it is – buried in the carpet.
I’m putting my paws around it so you can see what size it is.
But now I have a bigger mystery. How did this strange rain get into my house?
This could be a dangerous quest. When my younger person comes home next time, I’ll have to get him to get his airsoft gun out for extra protection while I investigate.

Jackie, they are airsoft pellets. When my younger person was younger than he is now they used to be all over my house and yard. I used to get all excited when he got his airsoft gun out.

At first I thought it was a tennis ball, but it’s a little (A LOT) too small for that. Maybe it’s candy!

Airsoft pellets??? and they were all over the yard and you heard them on your roof during the rain storm????
Thee must have been an army outside…LOL

Penny, that army must have run out of pellets and run off because I didn’t see them when I went outside. Maybe they were scared that I would give them what for.

Ok, Bongo, so the airsoft pellets started dancing on the roof and making noise while it was raining…hmm… and I see one pellet between your legs and one wet spot as big as the pellet… Yeah, you’re right, it must be airsoft pellets 😀
Bongo
September 6, 2012 at 5:16 pm
Angels Whisper, I don’t think that was a wet spot. It was a chunk of Scratchy’s fur. He picks it out when he’s shedding and leaves chunks all over the carpet.

At first I thought that it might be some kind of eggs like insects….BOL! Oh airsoft pellets!!! That sounds fun and many kids in Japan love doing it! I hope those pellets would gather around on their own after playing! Your legs are very long Bongo! Beautiful! 🙂

September 6, 2012 at 5:19 pm
Kevin, we used to have airsoft pellets all over the house and yard, but my younger person doesn’t shoot them off anymore. My person caught most of them in the vacuum cleaner (that noisy thing that I love to bark at), but every once in awhile one still shows up.

You love to bark at the vacume cleaner? Me, too! Always bark at it when it’s nisy! 🙂
Bongo
September 7, 2012 at 1:59 pm
Kevin, sometimes my person locks me in her bedroom when she’s about to make that vacuum cleaner get noisy. It’s no fair. It takes all the fun away. So I make sure I shed lots of hair while I’m in there.

Don’t even know what an airsoft pellet is but I’d say don’t go eating those things Bongo!

September 6, 2012 at 5:23 pm
Diane, they’re little plastic balls that get shot out of airsoft guns. My person says it’s kind of a guy thing – and mostly young guys. They don’t have much smell, so I’m not even interested in trying to eat them. Now the cat treats that get left in the garden – that’s another story.

At first I tought they were iced raindrops, but you did find it out. Take care of those! One of my cats (or maybe, my catlords?) was shooted once and he still have a scar in the place were he got it… it for sure is dangerous.

September 10, 2012 at 12:19 pm
YouKai, fortunately my younger person doesn’t play with those much any more. I used to get really excited when he got out his airsoft gun and I got shot a few times but it didn’t hurt much because my hair protected me.
