Someone’s at it again – leaving strange things on my trails. But this time they left something, and then they took something away.
I found a wire today – a very long wire. It kind of looks like a big crack in the rock, but if you look really hard you can see that wire going over my paw – not under it.
I don’t know if I’ll ever figure out how that wire got there. My person says since it’s in a wash the water probably brought it there last time it rained.
Okay – so what was it doing further up the wash. There’s nothing there but trees, bushes, and more wash.
I wonder what I could do with that wire.
I could string it across the trail so it would trip the javelina when they came to eat the prickly pears.
I could form it into a cage and put Scratchy in it.
I wonder if I could capture the thunder in it and then throw it away.
While I was figuring out what to do my person made me leave that wire where I found it. How am I going to do anything with it if I can’t take it with me?
As we headed down the trail I came across another mystery. A tree that we pass almost every day was missing a branch. I know that branch was there yesterday.
I looked everywhere for it and I never did find it. I guess maybe the rain sent it down the wash.

I think using the wire to catch the thunder was a very clever idea. Mom’s, they never let you do what you want to – tut, tut.

Whoa! Wait! (Get those paws off!)
Sorry, RC was rushing to the washing machine to see if there was something in her wash.
If your wire or branch shows up there, I won’t let RC keep it.
Happy trails, Bongo!

Karen, that wire is a potential cat cage so RC would be better off not keeping it. Besides, I don’t want to trap too many cats. Then I’d have to figure out what to do with them.

I think you need a full length mirror to find the branch Bongo 😉

Misty Shores, I wonder if my person would be willing to carry a mirror with her when we go on my trails.

What an observant dog you are, Bongo! I wonder what other mysteries you will find next time. Maybe you should write a detective novel??

Thanks Bites and Tales. One of my official titles is Detective Dog because I’m always finding mysteries on my trails that have to be solved. I’m still waiting for my person to get me a detective hat though. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Must have been quite a rain!!! I suppose you could use that wire to catch the thunder, as long as you keep the other end grounded and away from those lovely paws, or else we’d have a charcoaled version of you! If only that branch had a voice…

September 8, 2012 at 12:07 pm
Marina, maybe I should stay away from that wire. I don’t think I’d look good in charcoal. Did you find the branch?

Maybe the branch fell off in the wind and someone took it home to chop it up………you did not tell me what those white things were that you found……and now you’ve found a wire…good thing it did not trip your person up xxxxx

Patreciau, I guess I protected my person from getting tripped up by that wire. Those white things – you mean those little round balls? My person says they’re airsoft pellets that people – mostly boys – shoot out of airsoft guns. They used to be all over my house.

Oh no…the wire was brought there by rain?? It’s your lovely trail and nobody can disturb it! I hope that it’ll be washed away by next rain to somewhere else! 🙂
Bongo
September 8, 2012 at 12:12 pm
Kevin, I’m hoping the rain washes that wire away too, but big enough rain to do that usually has thunder with it so I’m all confused. I want it and I don’t want it.

That’s funny! With the branch that is. Not so funny that people leave trash around. Sometimes when we go on nature walks, we not only take small bags for poo, but bigger grocery-size bags for the trash that other people leave.
Bongo
September 8, 2012 at 12:14 pm
Dawn, that’s a good idea taking trash bags. We don’t find much trash on my trails, but every once in awhile something strange shows up.

Well, sweet Bongo that is a mystery about the wire and how it got on your trail. We think you may be looking in the wrong place for that tree branch though…we think we see it on your back…wonder how it ever got up on your back? Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, it’s on my back? What? I don’t see anything on my back. Do you mean in the back of this tree?

Hey Bongo, Jet here.
I’m partial to your making a cage for Scratchy idea. Or, you could make an art project and raise $ for your favorite shelter???

Hey Jet, I hadn’t thought of that art project idea. I bet I could get really creative with that wire.

I hope the wire was cleared away Bongo. It might be dangerous if an animal got caught in it.
Bongo
September 10, 2012 at 12:25 pm
Bassa, the wire is stiff and very long so I don’t think it would hurt anyone. I’ll have to check and see if the rain washed it away. My person says it’s too long to carry back with us.

Bongo! Wires are really scary after this weekend (shiver) will explain shortly. Hope a spaceship zapped it safely away!

I don’t know either where the branch is, Bongo, maybe the wire took it when it felt down. I think you have to do another investigation on it, in the meantime I’ll take a closer look at the photo 🙂

Angels Whisper, I guess I can blame the wire for taking that branch since I never did find it.
