There’s only one room in our house that gets a good sunny spot. And it’s the room that my people haven’t been spending much time in.
So for a long time I didn’t even notice that sunny spot. I was busy doing my dog duty and hanging around where my people are.
After all, they might need me to protect them from something.
But Scratchy isn’t such a dutiful cat.
He hangs out in that sunny spot even when nobody else is in the room. And to make it worse, he leaves clumps of his fur there. I guess he’s trying to claim that spot as his territory.
Well, my person went into that sunny spot room to pick up all Scratchy’s territory claiming furballs, and I followed her.
And I discovered something. I discovered the sunny spot and now it’s mine.
Scratchy, I’ll let you have a little corner of my new sunny spot. But only when the spot’s big.
And don’t you go leaving any of your furballs anywhere near here.

Thanks Sweet Kitten, I’m lying in it right now as I write this to you. Well, my person is writing what I tell her because the computer is in the other room.

Yip – cats will always claim the best sunny spots (and leave the mark there to prove it). My word, that’s a lot of fur. Good for you, stealing it back again.

Susan, Scratchy’s going to have to leave his fur somewhere else. He’s been pulling piles of fur like that out every day, and his coat seems to be still just as thick.

Patreciau, Scratchy didn’t want to share it at all, but I’m bigger than him so I win.

I think I see a little sunny spot left for Scratchy too! I know you have a big heart, Bongo!

Marina, sometimes Scratchy sneaks onto the sunny spot when I’m not looking. Today he’s on the futon though – one of his other favorite places. I’m not allowed to get on it for some reason.

Hey, isn’t that Scratchy in the corner of the sunny spot?
But not to worry, it’s big enough for the both of you!

Delft, I let Scratchy share the sunny spot – as long as he knows his place and stays in the corner of it.

Real friendship is sharing the sunny spot. We have plenty warmed dream bases to go around this time of year, but as the seasons progress, it gets to be a battle…

Karen, I guess it’s okay for Scratchy to share the sunny spot – as long as he doesn’t try to cuddle up close.

Enjoy your sunny spot Bongo, but watch out for those fur balls of Scratchy’s!
Bongo
November 21, 2012 at 5:36 pm
Barb, those fur balls can be dangerous. But at least they pick up easily. Otherwise they might get big enough to trip over.

That sunny spot RULES! Lucky you found it, B. Good job staking your claim. Scratchy sheds fur almost as much as me!
Love and licks and sunny thoughts,

Cupcake, Scratchy sits and picks his fur out in clumps. At least I get mine evenly spread all over the house so it’s not as noticeable.

Hey Bongo,
Glad to see you’re being assertive buddy – especially telling Scratchy to cool it with leaving the fur around, you don’t wanna go picking it up on your coat, people might mistake you for a giant cat! Tee Hee
Sweet dreams,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Hey Snoopy, that would be horrible – being mistaken for a giant cat. Guess I’d better get after Scratchy again. He’s leaving more fur around.

Collies, sunny spots are definitely the best. When Scratchy gets too close I pin him down with my paw. As soon as I let him up he runs for it.
