Where’s My Turkey?

23 Nov

Bongo looking for turkeyYesterday was Thanksgiving and I was left home alone. Well, Scratchy and I were left home alone together.

It seemed like we were alone for a very long time, so after I messed up my person’s bed and tried to get into the garbage – that little wrapper fell out on its own – I swear – I decided to pass the time by taking a nap.

And I had lots of dreams. All about turkeys. Turkeys were running through my house gobbling away. I tried to catch them, but they ran away. You’d think Scratchy would help me – aren’t cats supposed to be good at catching birds? But Scratchy was taking his own nap. He must have had his own turkeys running through the house.

But then my dreams got even better. The smell of cooked turkey wafting (did I use that word?) through the house. And turkey meat filling up my dish so I could eat to my heart’s delight.

Finally, I heard my person’s car drive up and my dreams went poof. Maybe they were prophetic (another big word?) and the turkey would be coming through the door.

In came my person, and she was carrying a big plate of food – turkey and other things – and did it smell good!

So where’s mine? I was ready to gobble that plate of food up and my person wasn’t giving it to me.

What!? No turkey? This is Thanksgiving! Dogs should get turkey too.

Bongo getting turkey

Sorry person. I never should have doubted you.

Thanksgiving Turkey Day is the best!

Awwww, you really thought your person would leave you without a turkey treat?!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving dear Bongo, even a day later, after all, giving thanks is a good thing for every day isn’t it?!
BTW You do have a great vocabulary, Bongo the litterateur!

Marina, my person has to help me with those big words. I guess I’m thankful that she helps me with my blog – and that I got turkey. And she forced me to have some self control. She wouldn’t give me all the turkey yesterday, so I still have more coming. I would have eaten it all yesterday.

Turkey is over rated..it’s very dry….now a nice goose or duck…you would love those..but what I do like is the fat left from cooking the turkey. In England it is called DRIPPING and it is fantastic on bread with a little little bit of salt..yummy it is but makes you fat!

Patreciau, turkey is good, but those drippings sound wonderful. I’m not even worried about fat. It would just be an excuse for extra walks on my trails.

Ellen I agree, food is wonderful. I can’t wait till Christmas to see what kind of goodies I’ll get to eat.

Rumpy, I’m not sure what’s gotten into our people. I think they should invite people over so we can get more loves – and anything that drops from the table.

Gizmo, I know I wouldn’t have any leftovers. I’m not sure how our people can stand not eating all that turkey at once.

Happy thanksgiving Bongo. Glad you got (what appeared to be) a tiny morsel of what I suspect was probably a very large bird. 😉

Thanks Flo. Now that you mention it, it was a very tiny morsel. I think I’d better ask for more.
