Hidden Presents

24 Dec

Dog toy inside a mailboxThis is too good! I’m really beginning to like Christmas more and more.

When my person and I headed out for our walk today there was a package at our front door. I didn’t really think much of it. It was kind of an annoyance because I had to wait while my person put the package inside the house.

Then we went out walking. It was an ordinary kind of walk. Nothing special happened that I could write about for my blog, and then we headed back home.

My person decided we needed to check the mailbox before going into the house. We have to walk right by my neighbor dog Toby’s house to do that and I wanted to stop and say hi.

No such luck. My person has a one track mind and she was headed straight for that mailbox.

She opened the mailbox while I sat very quietly next to the post that holds it up in the air. And she said there was something inside it for me.

What? What? I can’t see anything. That mailbox is way too high for me.

Then I had to wait while my person took pictures of whatever that thing in the mailbox was.

But finally, she gave it to me. A squeaky toy just for me! Somebody loves me. Woo woo!

Bongo with Toy

Then we went back in the house and my person opened that other package. Remember that one? The annoying one?

The package was from my person’s sister and there was a present inside for me from my cousin dogs. And you know what my person did?

She hid it from me. She hid my present and the other ones too. Even the ones that smelled good.

So you know what I did?

I hid my new mailbox toy from my person.

That’ll teach her.

Karma, Bongo, karma. Lots of times, I’ll give someone a new toy. After they play and run around the house with it, THEIR toy, not any other of the dogs, they usually head outside with it; sometimes I see it again, sometimes not. Enjoy!

Roberta, when I first got my squeaky snake – which is still one of my favorite toys – I didn’t bury it well enough and my person found the tail sticking out of the ground. For some reason she won’t let me take my inside toys out in the yard anymore. Merry Christmas!

Just don’t forget where you hid it. Teddy does that all the time–hides his toys and then forgets where he put them. I think he does it to get new toys.

Patricia, you’ve got to do something to get new toys. When I have a lot of them I never seem to get any new ones. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Collies and Chuck – and my person says thanks for the E-card you sent. Tell Ginger if she shoots down Santa’s sleigh she’s gotta watch out for those reindeer. I hear they have very pointy antlers. God Bless You too.

Merry Christmas to you too Kevin – and to your whole family too – although I think Christmas is already over where you are. Right now it’s mid-afternoon on Christmas day for us. I think that one toy might stay hidden for awhile because I got more for Christmas. One of these days I’ll find it and it will be a big surprise for me.

A hidden toy is like money in the bank, B. It’ll be there when you need it (after you rip the face off the one you have).

    Have fun!

Cupcake, you’re so right. I’ll never be out of toys if I’ve got one hidden away. I usually don’t destroy my toys except when my little friend comes to visit. One little friend visit equals one toy down. It will be good to have extras waiting because my person doesn’t always replace my toys right away.

Marina, I finally got all my other presents too – and my person still doesn’t know where I put my mailbox present. It’s my secret.

Kat n Collies, I’m going to keep that toy hidden for awhile – at least until I remember where I put it, since I got more toys for Christmas that I can play with now.

Angels Whisper, my mailbox present is still hidden in a safe place. I’ll bring it out when my new Christmas toys don’t seem so new anymore.
