Appreciating the Weather

10 Jan

Bongo sniffing something on the trailToday was one of those T-shirt kind of days that we sometimes get here in January. My person said snow was on the way so we needed to take advantage of the weather while it’s here. So off we headed on my trails.

Bongo heading up a trail

Hey person, this isn’t our usual way to go. Where am I taking you?

Bongo in a small patch of snow

Did you say snow was on its way? There’s some snow already hanging out here.

***

When I finished checking out the snow that seemed to like this warm weather, we headed on up the trail.

Bongo heading up a steep trail

Where am I taking you person? This trail’s really steep.

Bongo looking down the trail

Are you coming, person? You seem to be taking your time.

Bongo looking worn out

You can slow down now, person. I need a rest.

***

Finally, we made it to the top.

Bongo and view over edge of houses below

Can you see our house down there?

Hey, this is pretty cool. A what kind of view is it? Panoramic view? I don’t see any pans from here? Just an old coffee pot.

Hey, I worked really hard to get up here.

What do you mean, we have to go back down again?

I know you are super dog but I’m quite sure you’ll appreciate a nice nap after that!!!!! […and a rest for your poor person who will probably need it for your next walk!]
I must say, you are very lucky, Bongo to have such amazing places near home!
    🙂

Marina, naps are really good after nice, long walks. I’ve got to get energy for my next walk. It is wonderful having my trails so close to home.

Wow your surroundings are so different to our green home. Those mountains look awesome, Me and Nellie would not like to try and walk up them. We would be exhausted. Love Nellie and Jasper.

Nellie and Jasper, you just take your time going up and it’s not too bad. It’s definitely worth it when you get to the top – and then you can rest before you go back down.

Beautiful Bongo! It is snowing at my house three hours west of Las Vegas. It should be coming your way!

Nancy, these pictures are from yesterday. Today it is cloudy and much colder. I think the snow will be here by tonight.

You know Bongo, I was thinking how cool it would be if your person put a camcorder on your head & you could video all of your adventures.

Lola, my younger person’s been wanting to get one of those little camcorders you can put on remote control airplanes and things. I’ll have to push him to get one of those and then “borrow” it from him.

Thanks Milo and Jet. I had a great time on that hike – even if I did get a little winded on my way up that hill.

Will and Eko, we’re bundling up now though. Snow day tomorrow. Then we usually have to wait several days after a storm for the weather to warm up again.

It’s going to be in the 80’s here this week end! SC is pretty temperate in winter but this is a bit unusual. We need some cold so the plants don’t get confused and the bugs go away.

Patricia, the plants must be really confused around here. We’re expecting a snow day tomorrow. Big changes in temperature.

Jaz, we’re supposed to get snow tomorrow. I think it will be a shock to my system so soon after that warm weather – but I like playing in snow too.

What a beautiful place to walk! If we had scenery like that by our house, Lucky would get about five walks a day…. So pretty!

Melissa, my trails are really awesome. But I haven’t been able to get my person out on them more than once a day. I don’t know what else she could be doing that’s more important.

The scenery is breathtaking!!! When I look into “Sedona” where you live, I found out that Sedona is well-known for “Spiritual place” to Japanese people and also is popular to visit! Now I very much understand why the place is called like that. So magnificant! 🙂

    • Bongo

      January 11, 2013 at 11:15 am

Kevin, we do get a lot of Japanese visitors here – and many others as well. The New Age spiritual stuff draws a lot of people and the tourist industry plays on that to get more visitors, but the scenery alone draws a lot of people here. The number of visitors we get here can only be estimated, but I think we run a close second to the Grand Canyon. Many people visit both places.

Bongo, what a beautiful walk you had today! Thank you and Mom I wish I could have taken that with you. Course I would have been out of breath before reaching the top that was really high 🙂

Lexie and Mica, we take our time going to the top because we get out of breath too. It would be great if we could share walks together.
