Who’s on the Roof?

23 Feb

Bongo looking cool with his Detective Dog hat onI had to put on my Detective Dog hat again. And not for a mystery happening on my trails. This mystery is happening in my own house. Right now.

This is serious! You see, there’s somebody thumping around up on my roof. I’m sure they’re up to no good so I’ve got to find out who it is.

I know the sound of those pesky squirrels when they run around on my roof and this is not the same. Whoever this is is much heavier than a squirrel. And they don’t move the same.

They thump around a couple times and then they’re quiet. And then a little while later they thump some more. Sometimes in the same place and sometimes not. Guess I’d better go outside. Maybe I’ll be able to see who it is.

House with tree in front and snow on the roof

Hmm. I don’t see anybody up there. I’ll go check around the back. I bet they’re hiding from me on the other side of the roof.

House with snow covered trees behind it

There’s nobody back here either. I wonder where they went to? And who they are?

Hey, look! Snow treats.

Bongo eating snow off the ground

I wonder where this extra snow came from. There’s more here than anywhere else in the yard.

Oh, I bet it dropped off the tree in the corner of the yard.

What a nice surprise to find that snow treat in my yard, but I think I’ll go back inside and warm up now. Maybe if I run out quick next time I hear that thumping on the roof I’ll catch whoever it is.

Wait a minute! I think I have another mystery on my hands. I was just outside. The sky is perfectly blue. The pictures here even prove that so there’s no doubt about it.

But now that I’ve come back in the house I can clearly hear that it’s raining outside.

Baxter, whoever it is is gone now – and so is the snow. And I haven’t seen those pesky squirrels anywhere.

Kolytyi, if it’s snowcats I’ll have to send Scratchy up on the roof after them.

A cat ornament on the house would look amazing 😉

Marina, I guess I scared whoever it was off. I haven’t heard them for awhile now. They must have gone wherever the snow went.

Hawk, I’m still puzzling too. I never caught whoever it was and now they’re gone. And so is the snow.

    Inspector Bongo, is Scratchy inside?

Angels Whisper and Little Binky, Scratchy says it wasn’t him. I have to believe him this time. He never did leave the house.

Alex and Penny, do you think I have to go up on the roof to get them? Maybe I could send Scratchy up to bring them down for me.

Thanks Misaki. I’ve been working hard on it. But I haven’t heard those sounds in awhile – and the snow left too.

Oh-oh…my neighbor had a family of raccoon in her attic and you don’t want to mess with them! They’re meaner than a cat when you step on his tail you know.

Diana and Lola, I sure hope there’s no raccoons around here.

Benny & Lily, I never did find who was on the roof and they’re gone now. The snow is gone too. My person says they’re related. I don’t get it.

I get so mad when critters clomp around on my roof. Usually, it’s crows. It’s amazing how noisy those feather brains can be. I bark at them to make them fly away but it doesn’t always work. Maybe some of them can’t hear.

    • Bongo

      February 24, 2013 at 8:05 am

Lola, those crows can be such honry dudes. We have ravens around here, which are like big crows. They don’t hang out on my roof but sometimes they harass the little birds.

Whenever it snows, we have someone on the ground, too! We think that he/she visits our tiny yard jumping from the roof! Because they make a big sound which surprises feral kitty who just visiting our yard. I’m glad you still have some extra snow treats, Bongo! 🙂

    • Bongo

      February 24, 2013 at 8:10 am

Kevin, I guess those visitors really like to hang out with the snow. Maybe feral kitty can track them down for you.

*whispers* I know who those visitors are Bongo….in fact they are snowmen falling down from the roof into the ground…hee hee…

Kevin, you’ve got to be on me Detective Dog team! As a matter of fact, I’m sending my hat your way right now.

This is puzzling. Lucky the hat is on and you are on the case. I wonder if snowmen or snowsquirrels were running around up there….. Yikes!

      February 24, 2013 at 8:11 am

Cupcake, my person says whoever it was is at least related to snowmen. I guess that’s pretty cool because we never got enough snow to actually build a snowman.

That stinks about the squirrels…but maybe…instead…it’s raining snow treats?

    • Bongo

      February 24, 2013 at 1:11 pm

Donna, it did rain snow treats in my backyard. Maybe whoever’s on the roof will push some more off for me. What, person? What do you mean I have to go up on the roof and I’ll find lots of snow treats?

Dalton, I don’t think I’d get anywhere without my Detective Dog hat. Anyway, whoever it was is gone. They left when the snow did.
