Road Trip

06 May

Where are we Going? My younger person is home from school this week and today he and my person told me to get in the car with them. I like jumping in the car but I always get a little nervous about where I might be jumping back out.

We headed down the street and we made a turn. Well, this isn’t the way to the vet. I like the vet. They give me loves and treats there.

And then I got really worried. This is the way to the dog hotel! I don’t like going to the dog hotel. Maybe we should turn around and go back home.

But we kept going. Hey, wait a minute! We don’t ride this far in the car when we go to the dog hotel. Where are we going?

We rode and rode, and finally my person stopped the car. And there was no vet and there was no dog hotel. We were in a big parking lot.

And then we crossed the street.

Fay Canyon Trail Sign

A brand new trail! I hope my people brought lots of water because there are an awful lot of bushes that I need to leave messages on.

After my people assured me we had lots of water with us we headed up the trail.

Bongo and his younger person walking on the trail

We walked for a ways through lots of trees and then we climbed some rocks – and look what I saw!

Fay Canyon

Cathedral and Bell Rock from Fay Canyon

My younger person went exploring some more, so I thought I might too.

Bongo looking up the trail

But before I could get very far my younger person came back.

Bongo and his younger person looking at the view

I could sit here forever.

What? It’s time to go back.

Bongo and his younger person heading down the trail

I sure hope there’s some treats at the end of this trip.

What a great trip! Your area is so different from ours…but one thing is the same…lots of outdoor trails/parks for a dog to explore!

Oh, so many good things all at once! Car, new trails, younger person, incredible view … new plants to water! Only one thing left now: FISH!
    🙂

Marina, there wasn’t any water on this trail- just places where lots of water runs when it rains – so I guess I’ll have to look in those places for some dried fish.

The car is tricky like that. It takes you places, but they’re not always the places you WANT to be taken. You lucked out with this ride. What a beautiful, fun hike!

Thanks Cupcake. I wonder if we can figure out how to control those cars better – so they only always take us to fun places.

Ooooh, beautiful! I’m so jealous of everyone’s great hiking photos on today’s MM! My younger brother is in AZ–I should suggest this place to him!

Bongo is quite the handsome boy, by the way! And I love his name. 🙂

Phew! *wipingforeheadwithapaw* I’m glad that you didn’t have to go to the Dog Hotel Bongo!
Wow!!! What a breathtaking scenery that is! Yes! I could have sit there forever if I would have been there!!! You’re so lucky to have those amazing place close to your place! I’d love to visit Sedona someday! 🙂

I think you’re right. Sedona has such great trails. Have you ever hiked West Fork? I think it’s the best trail I’ve ever taken. Ever. In the Whole World!

Lola, both my people have hiked West Fork, but they’ve never taken me. I’ve got to get them to take me there because I hear it’s got water.

Lola, I won’t trade road trips this time. The library does sound boring – unless you can find people to give you loves.

A new trail Bongo and you had such a beautiful view at the top. We would love to sit there and look too. Too bad there wasn’t a little stream for a splash!

    • Bongo

      May 7, 2013 at 10:03 pm

Lexie and Mica, that’s the only thing this trail was missing. Water. I think it has streams when it rains hard, but then I’d probably be so wet I wouldn’t care.

You had really exciting adventures with your younger person! Beautiful landscapes and beautiful photos! My favourite pic is, of course, that one in which your head is to be seen in the right bottom corner! I have the feeling that I can see exactly the same scenery as you!
