This is unfair! This is totally not fair! My person is making me write a blog post about a cat. I’m writing this post totally under duress. I don’t even know what that word means, but I’m under it.
I barely even know this cat. He showed up at my house a couple days ago and every time I try to get to know him I get locked in the bedroom. I’m tired of getting left in the bedroom so I guess I’ll just ignore him for awhile.
But there’s a mystery to this cat. I recognize his smell. His smell has been sticking to some of my friends that visit sometimes. Maybe they got tired of having his smell on them. Oh no, that means his smell is going to be on my people instead.
Hey, how did that picture get here? How come that cat is sleeping there? I’ve never seen him sleeping on the back of the couch. Every time I see him he’s hiding under something, or behind something. How come he won’t come out when I’m around?
You want me to what, person? Tell everybody his name? I don’t even know his name. What is it? Scratchy Two? I sure hope not. That would really be bad.
Oh. His name is Gizmo. How come he’s here? Are my friends – the ones who smell like him – on vacation?
Oh. They had to move and couldn’t find a place that accepts pets? You mean Gizmo might be here for a long time? I’m stuck with two cats?
I don’t believe it. Gizmo is even trying to out-cute me.
Hey person, do you know anyone who has to move that has a dog?

Splotchy knows just how you feel. Every time she tries to get a sniff, out she
June 5, 2013 at 11:46 am
Us dogs are sure given the short end of the stick. Splotchy and I will have to unite.
June 5, 2013 at 10:45 am
What can I say, Bongo… at least Gizmo looks like he would be more willing to play with you. He is very cute, but OF COURSE not even close to your radiance!
PS Be the boss from the early stages!
June 5, 2013 at 11:47 am
Thanks Marina. I’ve been feeling kind of down – afraid that Gizmo is cuter than me and he might try to take over my blog. I’ve for sure got to tell him who’s boss because I heard that he used to live with a dog that he’d always harass.
June 5, 2013 at 2:26 pm
Sweet Bongo, may I remind you the title of your blog: BONGO DOG BLOG?! Nowhere does it say: Gizmo Cat Blog! I’m sure that sooner or later Gizmo will get see the larger picture…
June 5, 2013 at 3:53 pm
Marina, I sure hope there’s a lock on the place where you put the name on the blog. I could see Gizmo trying to change it. But then again, Scratchy’s tried to change it many times and he’s failed. Maybe I’m safe.
June 5, 2013 at 10:48 am
Oh Bongo, I know you are not so happy about this new kitty, but I am very very glad that your person has brought him to live at your house!
When my mom worked at the shelter there were many, many kitties and pups left there because their families could not keep them and this was a very sad thing. I am oh so glad that Gizmo has a new safe home instead of a kennel at the shelter.
June 5, 2013 at 11:49 am
Remy, that’s what my person said. She didn’t want Gizmo to have to go to a shelter. Maybe I could make a little cat shelter for him here and stick him in it.
June 5, 2013 at 10:50 am
Looks like Gizmo is adapting well.. I hope those kitty’s don’t team up & pick on you too much Bongo!
June 5, 2013 at 11:50 am
Jackie, that’s what I’m afraid of. And I’ve heard that Gizmo likes picking on dogs. I’m keeping him in the corner – when I get let out of the bedroom, that is.
June 5, 2013 at 10:52 am
Bongo remember that Gizmo’s are very friendly and lots of fun 😀
June 5, 2013 at 11:51 am
Gizmo, I thought of you when I learned that this cat is named Gizmo. I sure hope he turns out to be just as much fun as you are.
June 5, 2013 at 1:28 pm
I’m sorry about the duress, B. Gizmo is awfully cute, but I hope he gets his act together about you. For me, the only thing scarier than a cat is a cat hiding under stuff. Whoa! Good luck.
Love and licks,
June 5, 2013 at 3:51 pm
Cupcake, I’ll manage to get Gizmo straightened out – that is, if I can ever get out of the bedroom I keep getting locked in.
June 5, 2013 at 1:38 pm
Poor Bongo, You’re still the cutest.
June 5, 2013 at 3:52 pm
Thanks Susan. I’m glad you think that because I was starting to get worried.
June 5, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Don’t worry you’ll be back in charge very soon.
June 5, 2013 at 3:53 pm
Thanks Sandra. I’ve got to tell the cats around here who’s boss.
June 5, 2013 at 5:02 pm
Hey Bongo, We kind of like Gizmo, we think he looks cute. Sure hope he turns out to be a nice cat for you to play with… 🙂
Alex, Trish and Penny
June 5, 2013 at 7:48 pm
Alex, Trish, and Penny, so far I can’t get Gizmo to play with me. Every time I try I get locked in the bedroom. I sure hope he decides to play pretty soon.
June 5, 2013 at 10:12 pm
Oh no Bongo you are outnumbered hope he doesn’t like your food or treats:(
June 6, 2013 at 12:19 am
Lexie and Mica, I’ve been worried about that too, so I’ve been eating all my food extra fast.
June 6, 2013 at 12:34 am
Oh Bongo, Cats can be so prevailing, but I’m sure Gizmo will make furriends with you in a while and if not, you pack up your things and come to live with us 🙂
June 6, 2013 at 12:42 am
Little Binky, I’ll keep my suitcase ready. So far Gizmo doesn’t want to play. But he’s trying to make friends with Scratchy.
June 6, 2013 at 1:36 am
He will never be cuter than you pal!!! OO OO guess what I have just thought of a positive of this two cats one dog thing…wait for it…. at least scratchy is the one who has to share food and treats and toys and cat stuff!
June 6, 2013 at 11:45 am
Dalton, you are so wise. I hadn’t thought of that. The cats won’t be interested in my treats and toys, but Scratchy will have to share.
What's Going on at Mumsy's
June 6, 2013 at 4:54 am
Oh, sweet Bongo hang in there! We bet before long you, Scratchy and Gizmo will be doing just fine together! Hugs and nose kisses
June 6, 2013 at 11:51 am
Chancy and Mumsy, I sure hope so. Gizmo goes and hides when I want to play with him.
Two French Bulldogs
June 6, 2013 at 6:22 am
Welcome Gizmo! But locked in the bedroom while the intruder sleeps on the sofa! We are calling the authorities
Benny & Lily
June 6, 2013 at 11:52 am
Benny & Lily, I agree. The authorities definitely need to be called in on this. At least I’m getting out a little more now, but every time I try to play with Gizmo I get locked back in the bedroom.
June 6, 2013 at 7:37 am
“Gizmo”! How lovely name it is! And I’m so glad that your person let him in your house after his humans had to give him up because of the new place….Please tell her “Thank you very much” for saveing Gizmo!
Hmmmm…..I agree with you Bongo…I think it’s hard to get along with kitties as a dog…just please be careful of their claws, Bongo!
June 6, 2013 at 11:54 am
Kevin, I’ve had lots of experience with Scratchy’s claws – I guess that’s why he’s named Scratchy. I just hope Gizmo’s claws aren’t as sharp. So far I keep getting locked in the bedroom every time I try to play with Gizmo.
June 6, 2013 at 10:35 am
Trying to out-cute you?? Come on Bongo, that would be impossible.
June 6, 2013 at 11:55 am
Thanks Sanscera. I think I’ll go tell Gizmo now that he’ll never be cuter, no matter what.
June 7, 2013 at 10:32 am
Gizmo is a very handsome, nice, lovable being – if one can say such things about a cat, I mean. But you are simply not overcuteable.
June 7, 2013 at 10:51 am
Thanks Kolytyi. I’m still trying to get Gizmo to play with me though. So far he doesn’t want anything to do with me.
June 9, 2013 at 2:14 am
Gizmo is cute Bongo 🙂
June 10, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Bassa, I think Gizmo looks a little like Barnaby. He’s finally letting me sniff him.
June 9, 2013 at 1:18 pm
Gizmo looks a little like my old Riki Tiki who was here before Moe. pssst…if he’s anything like Riki Tiki, be very careful – that guy was always getting stuck on my face! Lola.
June 10, 2013 at 10:03 pm
Lola, I’m watching out for Gizmo. I heard that he used to harass the dog he lived with before me.
June 11, 2013 at 5:11 pm
Bongo… stop and think…. you get to eat out of two cat bowls… er… there will be twice as much catfood that the cats will “accidentally” dump out and you will have to clean those messes up! Now, here is a plan… throw them a catnip mouse and perhaps they will fight over it and do each other in… muwahahahah
-Ginger the bratty collie
June 11, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Ginger, I’ll have to try the catnip mouse thing because Gizmo eats all his food and everything that Scratchy doesn’t eat – so there’s nothing left for me to steal.
