After a Rain

06 Jul

Bongo trying to go down another trailEarlier today we had a bunch of thunder and some rain, but things had calmed down.

So my person and I decided to go for a walk.

Because of the rain everything smelled fresh and good, and the rain and clouds had cooled the air.

Rather than sweltering in the heat like we’ve been doing the last few days, it felt refreshing out in the cooler temperature.

This was turning into one of the best walks I’ve been on in a long time.

But then it happened.

First it was just a few drops of rain.

I can handle that.

But then I saw it.

A big flash of lightning.

And you know what comes after that.

Thunder!

I hate thunder. I’m deathly afraid of it.

Fortunately we were right at the beginning of a trail heading into the wash.

And it was the opposite direction of that thunder.

It’s a cool trail too, because you have to climb over big rocks when you get into the wash there.

But my person didn’t get it. She said we weren’t going that way.

I insisted.

Bongo refusing to budge

I lost.

But that thunder kept getting worse. And it came from the very direction we were headed.

My person says we have to go through this stuff to get home.

But I’m sure we can still get home if we head in another direction.

Patrecia, we’ve got a big storm going on right now with loud booms. I don’t like it one little bit.

You lost, Bongo, what a shame! But I bet you put up a good fight. 🙂

Delft, it sure was good when we finally got back home. I don’t like going through that stuff at all.

It sure is nice to walk in the cook air after a rain Bongo…Sorry that next storm came along so quick and messed with your fun

Gizmo, I think I should get a summer place somewhere else where there isn’t any thunder. The rain is nice, but that thunder is sneaky and it shows up all the time.

Too bad you couldn’t go to the trail you wanted…after all you even had your nifty thunder shirt on too. Penny has a similar shirt but in red, it matches her fur nicely.
We are glad that it rained….it helped keep the fire from spreading too far… 🙂
Hope you have a nice quiet evening with no thunder!!!

Thanks Alex, Trish, and Penny. It sure would be great if we could get rain here without the thunder. We’ve got more thunder here today.

Humans are weird aren’t they?! At least you did get to enjoy part of the trails. We’re also expecting rain here and the vest is ready for your friend! Courage, Bongo dear! 🙂

Marina, I haven’t been able to figure out why my person doesn’t want to run away from the thunder too.

Mom recognizes that stubborn posture. I am not afraid of thunder, but sometimes, if Mom wants to come inside, and I want to take a street nap, I look just like that!

Cupcake, sometimes I do the same thing if I want to take a longer walk. Every once in awhile it works, but usually not.

Oh that is scary Bongo. I wish we’d get a little rain here & some cooler weather. Looks like you’re wearing your thunder vest though – does that help a little bit?

Lola, my thunder vest helps calm me some, but thunder is still really scary to me. I think I need a force field around me that keeps thunder away.

Have you ever tried a tin foil hat? Diane put one on the cat once but I don’t think it had anything to do with thunder. I think she was just trying to keep the negative energy away from that cat!@

Lola, maybe I’ll try that next time. I think it helps keep aliens from reaching into your mind too.

You show your person just how brave you can be Bongo, Im sure your person will reward you with some yummy treats. Walking after the rain is a lovely feeling.

Susan, I love walking after the rain, as long as the thunder doesn’t have the same idea. But I’m working on the treats now.

I’m afraid Bongo that your person skipped her geography lessons at school. She should know that Earth is a huge ball – so, if you go steadily in the same direction, you will return to your starting point.

Kolytyi, that is the best idea yet. That means I also get to go swimming before I get back home.

Oh poor Bongo….I’m very sorry that you had to suffer from the thunder…..I know how it scares you…..my mom also hates thunder, too so we need to get those thunder away to somewhere not in this earth together!

Kevin, I bet if we team up we can figure out how to get rid of the thunder.

So that’s where Molly learned the “sit down you’re going wrong approach”. I’ve been wondering.
We are expecting rain so have packed up all the outside toys and taken afternoon walk a little early since it is windy and cooler. We don’t have any big rocks so we can run home faster if necessary.
Hope it quiets down there, Bongo…but wish you’d get to keep the cooler weather>

Karen, we got some rain today – but tons of thunder came with it. I’m glad I was able to teach Molly something though.

Paw you, I do hope you got home safe? Next time the thunder sounds and you don’t want to walk through it to home you are very welcome at mine!

Dalton, I’ll remember that and head straight to your house. I think you live in the opposite direction of the thunder.

Bongo, you better get up and follow your person. If you sit any longer, the thunder might getting worse and you get more scared, so it’s better you follow your person this time.

Little Binky, I’ll follow my person as soon as she starts going away from that thunder.

Lexie and Mica, my person is afraid I’ll run away from the thunder so she makes me stay with her. I just wish she’d go the way I want to go.

Misty Shores, I think that thunder is more powerful than my person. It sure makes more noise than she does.
