Rocks on Rocks

09 Sep

Bongo sniffing a cairn with extra rocks on topHmm. This is strange.

For a long time there have been trail markers on my trails so people know which way to go.

They’re mostly just a big pile of rocks, but the rocks have heavy wire around them so the pile keeps its shape and the rocks don’t get knocked all over the place.

People need this kind of thing. I think they’d find it much easier if they’d learn from us dogs.

Follow the smells.

But look what I found.

This pile of rocks has another pile of rocks on top of it.

What’s that supposed to mean?

Is it for people who don’t get it the first time and need to be told twice?

Or maybe it’s for really tall people who don’t see the regular trail marker because it’s so far below them.

Or it might just be a waste of good rocks.

And look at this.

Bongo looking at a rock on a cairn

Here’s another one.

I’ve figured it out now.

This isn’t a double trail marker to help people follow the trails.

The rocks on top mean something else.

Instead of sticking to the trails these rocks are telling people to go up.

Trail cairn with an extra rock on top

I think they’re for the birds.

Maybe it is to stop humans from getting lost…then you would need your sexy detective hat on to go find them

Patrecia, I was thinking I might need my Detective Dog hat to figure out what’s going on here.

Ku, it’s funny how humans just don’t get it sometimes. I guess that’s why they need us to straighten them out.

How strange..who put them there? We need a detective to solve the mystery of the rocks.
Do you know where to find one? A detective with a sexy hat and a good sense of smell……..

Patrecia, I think I can come up with someone who fits that description.

Molly says the trouble with people is that they really don’t get into trails properly – you gotta put that nose to the ground! When will they learn? Missing out on so much!

Molly, I don’t even know how people can enjoy the trails if they don’t enjoy the smells like we do. That’s the best part.

Reminds me of cairns. I thought it’s normal to put more stones on cairns.

Stanze, these things are called cairns, but normally nobody adds anything to them. Although we sometimes find unofficial cairns that someone started unrelated to the trail marker cairns.

That is weird. I tell you, you can’t ever tell about those rocks. Some of those rocks have a mind of their own. Trust me. I know this first hand especially having Bashful. XOXO – Bacon

Bacon, I think you’re right about those rocks. Sometimes after a big rain the rocks in my wash have totally rearranged themselves.

I saw some birds just today. I’ll send them to your trail. They’re sure to like it.

FleaByte, that would be great. When the birds see those rocks they’ll know which direction to fly.

It looks like some sort of weird Stonehenge thing. Hmmmm. Are the aliens back? Does it smell like Mars?

Cupcake, it could be aliens. There’s lots of people here who think they’re aliens.

Benny & Lily, I’ve got my trails memorized by the smells. I don’t know why people never bother to do that. They’d hardly ever get lost if they did.

I think that whoever makes these piled rocks, he/she must been talented to pile things up, because those rocks were piled up very tidily….even with the heavy wire, it seems to be difficult to do so. 🙂

Kevin, there really are some talented rock pilers around here.

I thought it was a kind of Stonehenge too, Bongo, at least in miniature 🙂

Little Binky, I’ve never gotten to go on the Stonehenge trails, but my person says it does kind of look like a miniature Stonehenge. Maybe I should name that branch of my trails the mini-Stonehenge. I bet it would bring lots of visitors who could give me loves.
