Too Many Flowers

13 May

Bongo in front of hedgehog cactus blossomsThey’re everywhere this year.

Spots of magenta peeking out from the browns and greens of my trails.

.

.

.

.

.

It’s kind of like an Easter egg hunt.

Hedgehog cactus blossoms hidden in the woods

Little spots of color popping up when you least expect it.

But I’m going to have to practice my photobombing.

Because my person has to get her camera out every time we pass one of those things.

I don’t know what she sees in those things.

They don’t even smell good.

And none of my friends leave messages on them.

That could be disastrous.

All I can hope for is that their blooming season is over very soon.

***

Wait! What?

This is terrible!

The hedgehogs are still in full bloom and the prickly pear are already starting up?

Prickly Pear blossom

What am I going to do?

Two kinds of cacti blooming at the same time.

I think I’ve got a lot of boring walks to look forward to.

Time for another photobomb.

Gah! Be careful, B. Don’t photobomb so close to the cactus or your vet will be photo bombing the next picture.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, I watch out for those things. But this is kind of ironic. My person didn’t get attacked by cactus while taking those pictures, but the catclaw did attack her. Those catclaw things are nasty – the plant kind and the animal kind.

Levi, I guess the photos will have to do until they bloom again next year. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Dogdaz, we don’t have a lot of other flowers around here this year, but the cactus flowers are going to town.

My dogs would be pleased if I showed interest in smelling anything at all. Even flowers!

Amkuska, my person never seems to want to smell the right things – and then she drags me away from the best smells. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Cactus flowers on your trails look very dynamic! We have some cactus here but they rarely bloom….

Kevin, cactus flowers are the best around here. It’s part of what makes the desert so beautiful.

If all cacti bloom at the same time and not one after another, then it needs a shorter time to get back your trails in their normal state when your person is not provoked continuously into taking pictures of things different from you! 😉

Kolytyi, I guess that’s a good thing. The cacti are confused this year because of the warm winter we had. The century plants are even blooming now and they usually wait until June.

Collies, you definitely have to walk softly around the prickly pear.
